E3 2014 - All your wildest hopes and dreams
Fierce_LiNk replied to gaggle64's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The emphasis is on the right bits. They need to let go of the past (forget) and create (make) new things. Yes, the first and third are the same, but it needs reiterating. (also, just so we can't class anything like Mario Kart as new, when it's really more of the same). To you, Nintendo is Mario and Zelda. To me, Nintendo is supposed to be about creating memorable games and gaming experiences. Nintendo isn't and shouldn't be limited to a few franchises. I remember something a few years back when they revealed the Wii, something about "would you rather go down the same road but faster, or go down a whole new road?" (can't remember the exact quote, but it was to that effect, from Reggie). Well, I want the new road, Nintendo. :p X looks incredible, but we know almost nothing about it, let alone a release date. As for not wanting Mario, Zelda, etc: To put it simply, the last Zelda (Skyward Sword) was a bad game. Nintendo also seem very content on covering old ground with the franchise rather than breaking through with the new stuff (Ocarina of Time 3D, Wind Waker HD, even A Link Between Worlds I'd argue did this) I've had enough of Mario and the fact that he's on pretty much everything. Metroid is something Nintendo neglect, considering the output that it received on the DS and so far on the 3DS. It's the one franchise I do want to see again, but I could quite easily live without the other 2 for a while. Either way, I can dream. -
The game was 3-1 to Liverpool when I last checked. What the fuck happened?! Not sure why Spurs are posting about that, it's not really any of their business. Weren't they supposed to be challenging for the title after their huge summer spending?

IGN RUMOR - Nintendo may show new hardware at E3

Oh aye, I know you're not saying it'll happen. Maybe somebody in the modding community will fuse an already existing phone together with a DS/3DS and create something like that. I imagine that a GBA phone would be easier to achieve, since it's only got the one screen. Could see that working. -

I would like Nintendo to FORGET about recreating history and actually MAKE new History. I don't really want to see another Mario or Zelda, I want something new. A new series or two that in 20 years time we'll look back on and think, "wow, that was amazing." Where's the new stuff that is going to have a lasting impact on the videogaming industry like Mario or Zelda or Metroid has? I also want something with depth. A game besides Smash Bros. where you will spend hours and hours on it so that you learn it inside out. I knew Ocarina of Time like the back of my hand. I knew Majora's Mask better than my ex-girlfriend. I want to feel this feel again. - Something new. - More depth. - For the love of God, something NOT from a franchise we already know about. I have serious reservations on whether Nintendo have what it takes to create another game with the depth of A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Ocarina, etc. Super Metroid in particular. Make me believe, Nintendo. -

A few months ago, I'd be right there with you. But, phones have moved so much beyond simply just texting and phoning. The game has changed. If Nintendo did create a phone, it would probably include some of the things that you want, but I imagine that it would miss features and support a lot of consumers would be looking for in a phone. App support, for example. Considering all the hoo-har in the past about friendcodes and the fact that voice chat is an issue in games, it seems naive to expect Nintendo to create a device which...relies on people exchanging their numbers and communicating through voice and text messaging. Ha, imagine that, you CAN text you friends, but only through using one of the preset messages. -
I'm not a huge fan of these mega threads and don't really see a problem with people making their own threads for different things. For example, to check up on past members, to post about something awesome that they have done. I don't mind that, we're not exactly short on threads. I'll keep this open in the meantime to see where it goes.

I'm watching Ine play this now. It's so, so beautiful. Amazing music, visuals and script writing.

Not to shit on anyone's ideas or preferences, but if there was one company who I think shouldn't make a phone or who couldn't be trusted to pull it off, it's Nintendo. They're not diverse enough and don't have the technological know-how to make something like a phone. It would be extremely barebones. Leading features that are available, standard features would be missing. It wouldn't be state of the art. It definitely shouldn't happen. Even if it did happen, it wouldn't replace the majority of people's phones. It would rather be the next handheld that "just happened to have features similar to a phone". There's no way a significant audience out there would replace their iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S4s, Nexus, HTC One, etc for something like this. No way. It's suicide. -
I may make a trip down, one day. I should bluddy hope so. MKWii was dire, far too random and unexpected for its own good.

ExciteBike, 1080, Wave Race and something like NBA Courtside is going down the right route. But, they also need something for the likes of tennis, golf, football etc that DOESN'T feature Mario's face on it. They need new characters, new heroes to warm towards. A realistic-ish tennis sim alongside Mario Tennis is the key, imo. Bringing back a game such as 1080 would be excellent. We haven't had that shoved down our throats every console or handheld generation, and I think it would add variety to the console. I will be heartbroken if Nintendo show off another sports game with Mario's face on it. We see more than enough of him. We need something else.

Is the multiplayer 4 or 5 player? Can you take 5 players online like in Sonic Transformed? Is the game as random as Mario Kart Wii was or is it more skill-focused? MKWii was random as fuck...

Hnnnnngggggggggg. Just make sure that you put it in the right place. Not in her other castle. My predictions: Nothing. I'm going in empty. Zero expectations. First E3 in a long time where I'm not hyped at all.

IGN RUMOR - Nintendo may show new hardware at E3

Sometimes it's just fun to talk, brah. You know, discuss things. We can dream a little. -
What are the actual game modes involved in this game? Is it the simple "Grand Prix, time trial, multiplayer" or is there some kind of story mode/something else? How does it work with customising kart parts? Do you unlock parts or are all open from the start?

Why not both? Great games on a powerful console/moar horsepower. -
Real Madrid were immense against Bayern. It was unreal. They moved the ball so well and that was probably one of the best games from Luka Modric that I have ever seen. He was sublime. Chelsea deserved to lose against Atletico. They didn't have enough fire power and to put on such a poor show at home and go through would have been a big injustice. They've won the Champions League once already playing not-so-great football, being in another final would flatter them too much. Disappointed in Bayern. I've said it before and I'll say it again; they were a much better team last year. More lethal, more attacking, harder to defend against. Even we did pretty well against them...until we had a rush of blood and mucked it all up. Their league form is fantastic, but it should be considering that they've been poaching Dortmund's players and because there are no other teams that can compete against them.

Just wait for Nintendo to give us Baby Pink Gold Peach. That'll rustle some jimmies. Insulting. That entire third row is garbage.

I'm in the process of watching this direct. It's absolutely fucking heart-breaking to watch this after the Smash Direct. This is terrible. It's not funny or even slightly humorous on any level. What were Nintendo thinking making it 35 minutes long?! It could easily have been a third of that time with just details of the online features, the weapons and new trailer. Done. Everything else was filler. The real kick in the nuts: Nintendo add in Voice Chat but NOT during the actual game. Are you fucking kidding me? Why go to the trouble of adding it but not during the race? They don't get it. So painful. I was tearing my eyes out about 15 minutes in. On the plus side, the free game deal is awesome but...for such an important thing, why did they put that in such an odd place? I almost gave up watching it. Who was this meant to be aimed at? It's not funny enough to be aimed at older gamers, it's far, farrrr too long to be aimed at younger gamers. So...who? It's soul destroying seeing that Smash Bros has tons and tons of effort and love being put into it, awesome game modes, differentiation between the 3DS and Wii U version, whilst Mario Kart 8 looks near enough like the previous iterations plus anti-gravity plus HD. Finally...Pink Gold Peach. Wat. Still can't get over watching that. It really was dreadful and frankly embarrassing. Nintendo needs a bullet bill shoved up its arse to boost it forward into the present.

I agree with half of what you are saying, but disagree with some bits. Brad Pitt has the greatest of all time facial genetics, but he has worked veeeeery hard to achieve and maintain that physique for example. He's taken care with styling his hair over the years, facial hair, etc. He's not just woken up and had six-pack abs, for example, he's had to work for that. Being in shape also means he'll have less fat around his face, meaning certain features like his cheekbones and jawline will be accentuated. Johnny Vegas would NEED to put in a lot more of an effort in order to impress people. He hasn't got the physique that Brad Pitt has, he hasn't got the natural facial features or the style and charisma. He's not a movie-star, for example. He's...what the fuck does Johnny Vegas actually do? Status proves a part in it, too. So, yes, whilst Brad Pitt is born with SOME aesthetic features, he has worked on the rest of it to make him a true 10/10. Dat face (natural), dat styling, dat physique, dat rugged look, dat career. Dat evrything. Chanel is sexy as hell. :awesome: For hair products, I only use Matt Clay. I tend to keep my hair a bit shorter these days because it's quicker and easier to style.

Colonial Marines was a brilliant idea because it's more focused on recreating the atmosphere from the second in the series; Aliens. This is focusing on Alien. Both games are trying to do different things, so I love the fact that you can have one series of themes, settings, characters etc but two completely different outcomes. For me, it's a shame that Colonial Marines ultimately didn't live up to its promise, because the ideas behind it looked spot on. I'm loving the attention to detail with the settings. For me, that's part of what I'm looking for in these sort of games. I want to feel there. The little touches like the soundtrack kicking in when you enter a room just make my hairs stand up.

My smells are: Hugo Boss: Soul Hugo Boss: Bottled Night Bvlgari: Aqva Davidoff: Adventure Davidoff: Cool Water Davidoff: Champion Calvin Klein: Eternity Calvin Klein: Man Armani: Code Chanel: Bleu I don't spend a lot on it at all. I ask for these as gifts for birthday/christmas, I buy them when there's stupidly low deals on (picked up Adventure for 20 quid, 100ml) and I buy larger bottles (100ml) because it lasts longer. I'm regularly getting told in work that I'm the "best smelling person there", by parents AND teachers. (a few of the older students have commented on this too). Compliments = confidence rises = you feel happier = everything you do is better because you put more care into things.

True, you either feel engrossed by it or are turned off. For me, as a huge fan of the films (notably the first), this is a dream. You're being stalked around a ship by a fucking Xenomorph. Soundtrack from the original film. Sound effects, lighting...aaahhhh.

U wot m8? Brad Pitt is considered by many to be the sexiest man alive...of course people are impressed when he looks good. Put it this way, Brad Pitt's bad day far, faaaar exceeds Johnny Vegas' best. Even then, people like Brad Pitt have a "high bottom level". Meaning that even when they're not looking their best, they still look pretty fucking good because of the exceptionally high standards that they have for themselves. I understand about airbrushing and looking super-skinny and all that...but it's not really THAT had to look tidy. Even more than decent. A lot of the people that I think are hot or sexy aren't even people who have movie-star looks. You don't need that. It's usually, for me, down to the following: 1. Diet. 2. Appearance/Cleanliness 3. Personality. Take control over what you eat. It's far too easy for people to bullshit about food. All you need is a little self control and it does wonders. I feel much, much better when I'm eating the right stuff than when I'm eating the wrong things. Control your diet, exercise during the week, challenge yourself and you'll reap the benefits not only by looking better but feeling better. You don't want to be a 40-year-old-something-has-been who is out of shape and could have taken better care of yourself. Don't let yourself get to that stage. Your body and the way you appear says a lot about you as a person. If you don't bother to wash yourself/shower, tidy your hair up, you're not going to encourage people to come and speak to you or socialise with you. Smelling good is under-rated! I have a different aftershave/eau de toilette for every day of the week. I have karma cream from Lush because it makes my skin feel awesome and I make sure that I shower AT LEAST once a day because I feel rough as fuck and look/smell dreadful without one (coupled with the exercise I do). Ine smells amazing! Perfume/aftershave shopping is best in life. Personality. If you feel good about yourself on the inside, you'll radiate it on the outside. Cliched, but true. If you love life and actually have things that interest you, it becomes infectious and you influence those around you. People find that attractive, I certainly do. Even if you're not talkative or super-confident, you need to have some way of showing "this is who I am and what I stand for". Everybody has their quirks and I find it interesting when I meet new people to see how they tick.

Things are slowly looking up. My brothers in particular have been great/helpful but...my Mum...fuaarrk. She must wear Superman or Wonder Woman pyjamas or something because she's been unreal the last two days. She's had a few moments, but otherwise she's been an absolute rock. She's seen the positives of his life and she understands that it was his time to go given that he was in pain. I was worried that she wouldn't be able to see life after my Dad, but I'm feeling much better about this now. She's going to make it.

Not sure if serious. Have you people seen the movies? In the third film, there were prisoners who had access to knives and pipes and shit. They pretty much all died. (against ONE Alien) The only weapons that would work would have to be firearms. Ripley only survived the first film because she ejected the fucker into space. If you're one vs. one with this thing, you are going to get mauled, regardless of fight/flight response. Game looks awesome. If the PS3 version is awesome, that means I'll be getting one of those. If not and it turns out you HAVE to go next/current-gen or this, then...just maybe a PS4. Please don't fuck this game up.
