  1. Maybe because the games are fun to play? Ever tried the Pro Clubs modes on FIFA? Ever done a 32vs.32 on Battlefield 4, or a 6-man raid on Destiny? The games get love for a reason.
  2. Gutted we're not playing tonight! I thought I'd be a bit late to the party as I got in late from work, exercised and ate my tea, but thought we'd still be online. Aw well. Booo. I want to play again baaaaadly! Ok, it's time to get the league sorted. I'm going to quote this post that I made before: What do we think? Also, should we start another thread for league sign-ups and then another for the league itself? Or, should we do sign-ups in here and another thread for the league? Orrrr, just do the lot in here. I think the league definitely deserves it's own thread. The quicker we decide on this, the sooner we can get started. We're going to need to have some rules in place to make the competition fair, depending on the option that we do go with. If we do go with option 1, maybe we shouldn't allow players to go the same team twice in a row? Otherwise we'll just get Real Madrid vs Real Madrid every single match, or something. Let's start discussing.
  3. Probably, but we're still shite. We're getting better and we definitely play much better football than last season. The quality of the passing has improved, both short and long. We're short in the centre-back positions, but once that's fixed we are good to go.
  4. I thought we gave it a good go in that second half and left with some sort of dignity. We looked miles better than we did at the Etihad last season and that's even with 10 players. Chris Smalling is a fucking idiot for that sending off. I knew it was coming after seeing him get a yellow for whatever the hell it was he was trying to do. He's in big trouble now because he's spending too much time out injured and he's not exactly putting in the performances when he does play. I fear for him, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones because I think all three could realistically be gone by next summer. They're too injury prone and when they do play, they're reckless and make mistakes. I don't think Kompany put a foot wrong all afternoon, that's what you need in a centre-back. Luke Shaw was my man of the match. He looked very comfortable on and off the ball, tried to go forward, looked solid at the back, communicated well with his team and always wanted the ball. Probably the only guaranteed spot in our back four, in my opinion. Rojo, Jones, Smalling, Evans and Rafael are all fighting for their places, especially because the likes of Mcnair are challenging them for places. Realistically, we were always going to struggle in this fixture, but getting ourselves down to 10 men just made it too difficult. We did well to keep the score down and I thought we threatened in the second half. Unfortunately, we are two centre-backs short and we need a new right back (maybe even two, one for cover).
  5. I should be online tonight, not sure about the day-time. Playing squash today and may be food shopping. Aside from that, I've got work to do, toooo.
  6. Yeah, I'm feeling confident and know that my lifts will improve. I was already squatting either once or twice a week and seeing improvements, so doing it more often will only help. I don't really see the harm of hitting chest three times a week. If you want to get better at something, you do it more often. Would you do squat and bench three times a week? The only downsides would be that it's potentially very fucking tiring and that your overhead press may suffer initially (as you'll be too tired from benching to go heavy on that)
  7. Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng. Got on some FIFA15 multiplayer last night and it was so gooood.
  8. Sorry lads, I'm not sure if my messages went through earlier. I had some friends around and was playing against one of them. So, I was on the game but doing local multiplayer. I sent a reply but I don't know if it got through.
  9. This will require a detailed response. I previously worked my way up to 108kg just over a year ago before realising that my depth was pretty shit. So, I started pretty much from scratch again and worked my way up from 50KG upwards, going below parallel. I managed to work my way back up to around 80/90kg before experiencing pain in my hip flexor. When this happened, I switched from the back squat to the front squat and rebuilt myself from there. Worked from 40kg all the way up to 80 for sets of 5 reps, pretty proud of that. On a cut, too! I spent ages on the cut to get my abs in shape for the summer, whilst still progressing with the front squat. I slowly switched from the front back to back squats and moved the weight up slowly. It was quite difficult to do any serious weight on a cut. Started bulking again at around August and have managed to get my back squat (which feels fucking great now, no hip flexor issues) up to 92kg for 5 reps and going. Howeveeeeer, as I've just started Stronglifts, to get my body used to squatting 3 times a week, I've gone in with what was recommended, which was to do 50% of your 5-rep max. So, back down to 40-ish kg and back up again. Second session today, 50.5kg, depth was great, hip flexor was great and I'm looking forward to seeing some benefits at last. Very stop start, but it's better to hit the lower weight with great depth rather than to go in half arsed and do shitty squats. I'd rather see some gains and know that I'm doing it the right way. The hip flexor pain was unfortunate and there wasn't a lot I could do about it, so I'm glad to finally be enjoying back squats again. Feels good.
  10. I use tuna chunks, so yeah, much squishier. Surely when you bite down onto it all of the mash will just seep out of the sides and back onto your plate. It just sounds and looks like a fucking mess!
  11. I can't either as I have to clean up our place for some guests tomorrow. Place is a shit hole.
  12. It's disappointing. I'll hold back on playing more of it until the issues are sorted out. It's a shame, the game itself is very good.
  13. I imagine that a lot of people bought this game digitally since it was pretty cheap. So, I can't help you there. I downloaded an update for this earlier and was half-expecting it to be the dynamic weather update. It was not. I am now a sad panda. :'( Game is beautiful, though. I played it for about an hour and have been reminded of its beauty. I really like it and will try to make more of an effort playing it.
  14. Really? It's a huge carb overload and there's no real substance to it...far too squishy for my liking. Maybe we should get ReZ to do it for his Food Review.
  15. I actually think that this isn't too bad of an idea. Maintaining good health is quite an in-thing at the moment and there probably is a market there waiting to be tapped into. Sleep is obviously important and the fact is that the vast majority of the population won't be getting enough of it for a multitude of reasons. Having a family, long hours at work, stress or financial worries, partying, staying up all night gaming (that's us) or other things. I don't know if people would be on board with this type of device though. Most of us probably don't get enough sleep and we know that already, we don't really need a device to tell us that. WiiFit was the right idea because it came with exercises and it was fun. A lot of people knew they wanted to lose weight and just need something to engage them in order to do so. It's interesting to see where they go with this.
  16. Tbh, it's quite difficult to find specific accessories like this in stores these days. Another reason for this is the demise of the high street; there are very few gaming outlets out there unless you happen to live in particular areas. As far as I know, we don't have any independent gaming stores here and we only have the one GAME. Supermarkets will occasionally stock Wii/WiiU games, but not so much the accessories like LAN adapters. You'd have to go online for that sorta stuff and I do most of my buying online these days. I don't know how difficult it is for things to get transported to Ireland...is it really that bad? What about the likes of Amazon or ShopTo? They must ship there, surely? I've never seen TG4 but S4C is the greatest (lol, it isn't really, it's pretty shit). Used to enjoy watching the Rugby on it, dat accent.
  17. My brother eats these. Son, I am disgust. He also invented an abomination and destroyed everything that I knew about sandwiches. We were eating a roast dinner and I must have been in my early teens at the time, so this is years back. Mashed potatoes, the great of all time usage of potatoes. Everybody piles them onto their plates. I recreated that famous scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind where Richard Dreyfuss builds that mountain out of mashed potato. Smothered the whole lot with gravy. It was divine. My brother had to take it one step too far. Two slices of bread, with piles and piles of mashed potato stuffed between them, complete with ketchup. He's the only person I've ever known to eat mashed potato sandwiches and still does it. I still think he does it to wind me up because how anybody could think that would be a good idea is beyond me.
  18. In this thread, Wii is butt-hurt about living in Ireland. Move across the water, brah. We get everything here. Do u even S4C, brah?
  19. I dunno, maybe she had sobered up by the time the fourth date had rolled around? white text is white. I love you please.
  20. I actually had to stop doing dips for a while because of some discomfort that I was having in my elbow region. My pressing in general was affected by it. I ended up doing kick-backs for a while before slowly re-introducing the dips. Quite enjoyed it if I'm honest, it was different and I had the mind-muscle contraction just right and could feel the muscle being worked.
  21. Dat feel when you can workout at home and do whatever the fuck you like because you know you won't be holding people up. I exercise in my underwear. It's soooo liberating. (except those initial moments of coldness where your naked bodeh lies flat on the bench and the surface is freezing.) Right, I've attempted SS tonight and quite enjoyed it. Did the first day of 5x5 Squats, Bench and Barbell Rows. You know what, it's quite nice being able to switch from one body part to the next. When I usually hit legs, they're usually still dying from squats and stiff legged deadlifts when I come to the lunges. I think I'm going to enjoy this. I've followed it right down to the letter and have started with roughly 50% of my 5-rep max weight for each exercise. It's like rugby; you have to pass backwards to go forwards.
  22. I've just eaten my second round of sandwiches today because I was starving again. Tuna in spring water, bread, butter, hnnnnng. Hnnnnnnnng! Sometimes I have a tandoori chicken sandwich. The only downside with this is that you need to know that you want it the day beforehand, so you can prepare it and put the chicken in the fridge for the next day, covered in the tandoori mix. Oh my. Hnnnng.
  23. Funny, but also quite disturbing/worrying.
  24. So, I hear Steamworld Dig is quite good then? One for Ine, possibly.
  25. Tbh, people are quite level headed here and if something is bullshit will just come out with it. There's no sprinkles and rainbows in here, thank fuck.
