  1. I'll have you know that Ine is a huge leap in aesthetics over her previous generation counter-parts. In staying with the actual point you're making, you can't really judge either the PS4 or One right now because there aren't enough games being used with that hardware in mind. There's a lot of cross-generation games due to the userbase being so big there. In about a year or so when the majority of games will be made with the PS4 and One purely as their sole focus (and PC), you'll start to see a difference. Being on par with the competitors is crucial, but I feel that a lot of damage has been done. I regularly tell the children in the classes that I teach that once you are given a label as a bully or somebody who isn't very pleasant to others, it can often be very difficult to shake off that label. The same principle applies here. There are quite a few labels that have seemingly stuck to Nintendo and it's going to require a lot of hard work to shake these off. Childish, slow to react, behind the times, not caring about online gaming, not able to get third parties on board, very Japanese focused (both positive and negative)/not western enough, etc. Some of these labels have been given for the last two generations...some more than that. Image is a huge problem, just as much as the power of the system.
  2. You'll get gamers that are able to blitz through the majority of games in a short space of time. Is the actual game designed to be completed by the average gamer in 3 hours? The answer to that would be no. Super Metroid can be completed in such a short space of time and is quite famous for that. But, it's still taken me a hell of a lot longer to do that due to being stuck at certain points, dying over and over, not knowing the layouts off by heart, etc. Either way, I try not to get hung up on game length. It's not really that important in the grand scheme of things and especially not with gaming. The most important thing imo is whether you personally enjoy the game or not. Gaming is seemingly an expensive hobby (or a way of life to most of us) but it's also got excellent value for money in terms of replay value or the fact that you are interacting with a medium and achieving something that you can't really do with books, film or tv. I agree in some ways that the game should be eShop based but thankfully we're reaching that point in the industry where a lot of games can be downloaded digitally and are also packaged for retail distribution. So, the choice is there. Now it just comes down to price. If Nintendo feel that they've set the correct price of it and if people are willing to pay it, then that's that. Looking on Amazon, £28 seems like a decent price. £25 territory would have been an excellent price and there may be deals every now and again where it reaches that. GAME have the download code for £29.99. Not too terrible, imo. I wouldn't pay it because I don't want the game, but I can honestly see certain fans going for it at that price.
  3. I believe I'm currently using a 13" display. Ine's macbook has a 15" display and it's a lot easier using that. I can live quite comfortably with the screen size I've currently got, although I wouldn't mind jumping up to a larger display if the price difference isn't too great (still within the budget). I quite like the look of the 355 G2, although the zoostorm seems to be getting great reviews. The downside of that though is the lack of operating system. I'm confident I can get somebody from work to sort me out with Windows 8 there. For my needs, each of these three are very suitable, so thanks for those. I've also been pondering the tablet/keyboard idea and am quite open to trying something different. Due to taking a large portion of work home with me, I tend to use usb sticks/memory devices and use this to transfer my data back and forth. Eventually, I'll be getting a portable hard-drive. So, if I were to go down the tablet route, it would have to be able to access these devices. I know that there are tons of options, so this thread is more so about getting good value for money and getting a good product. Chrome books are quite appealing from what I've seen and I've mentioned the tablet stuff above. If I could get something for around the 300 mark which was more than decent, I'd be happy.
  4. Braaaah, you seem to be quite technically astute. I am on the lookout for a new laptop. Check mah threeeead in tech talk.

  5. Hey people! I am on the look-out for a new laptop. I've been leeching off Ine's old Macbook for a while now and it is finally dying. (after about 9 years) This would mostly be used for seeing all of your sexy faces on N-Europe/Facebook, BBCSporting and, more importantly, catching up on my school work. So, as you can see, I don't need anything too taxing. I am not on the look-out for a gaming laptop. The catch is that my budget is small. I will not be spending more than £500 and would prefer to be looking well beneath that. At the most, I'll be working on some sort of word document with spotify and BBC Sport on in the background. So, nothing too taxing whatsoever. The budget and getting good value for money/reliability is what I'm after.
  6. With regards to our result yesterday: I'm gutted that we didn't get all three, but a point is very fair considering what Villa put into the game. I'm not sold at all on this 3-5-2 lark and think we actually played better football earlier on with the diamond. Granted, that was when we had Di Maria, Blind and Herrera all fit. Still, good on Villa for pushing us and not giving up when they had a red card decision go against them, which was clearly the wrong call.
  7. Pretty much what Sexual said, it's still a good game without all of the weather and time stuff. There's a great sense of speed to the game and each car handles differently to the next. I love the sense of achievement you feel where you find a new car and then persevere with it until you fully understand how it drives. Then, you're pushing it to its limits and can get the most out of it. There's a sense of achievement to the game. When you get a great time or you beat one of somebody's challenges, you know that you earned it. It's a hard game, mind. Unforgiving at times, but I think the balance between its difficulty, its playability and its sense of fun is just spot on.
  8. I'm going to push it to just 6 in terms of how much I enjoyed them and the quality of each title. I should have pushed it to 5 but went for 6 due to how much I really did enjoy Watch Dogs. 1. Alien: Isolation - best game I've played this year. 2. The Last of Us Remastered - Fantastic game and only second because of my love for the Alien franchise. 3. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition - amazing game. Only third due to how highly I rate the other two above it. 4. Drive Club - Fantastic game that is just getting better. 5. FIFA 15 - Pro Clubs, League nights, constant new challenges = excellent game. 6. Watch Dogs - I pushed this list to 6 instead of 5 because it would have done this game a huge disservice to not be included, considering I pumped so much time and effort into it. Under-rated. Still to play: (games that I own and probably the order in which I'll play them) Walking Dead Season 1 and 2 (started these) Shadow of Mordor GTAV Metro Redux Smash Bros. Bayonetta 1 and 2 (if I get around to it)
  9. u wot m4x2? It's a racing game but a very dynamic one at that. Try a race in Norway, starting at 3pm with the time setting on 60x and with the weather set to dynamic and call it boring. The race will go from daylight to night with the weather alternating between dry, light snow, medium snow and heavy snow. If you set enough laps or if the race is particularly long enough (setting it to 10 laps is awesome) it'll even go back to daylight/morning time/dawn. It's fucking awesome. All the while, you'll have drift challenges and speed challenges where you try to best either your friend's scores or that of randomers. It's probably the best racing game out there, imo.
  10. Battlefield may have been broken at one point, but it's been working absolutely fine for many months now. Of course, you'd know that if you played it.
  11. Of course, this is but an anagram for @Agent Gibbs, who is 31 today! Merry Birthday!
  12. I felt your pain playing that game. Hearing over cursing on the telly was hilarious. Ine lost it at one point when De Gea pulled off his thousandth save. Sorry for not voice-chatting. I've decided not to for league matches because I did with @dazzybee and ended up getting plastered 4-0 or something. I didn't concentrate at all, haha. Was terrible. Shocking defending.
  13. It's called "wanting what you can't have". You've already got form for this. :p
  14. Probably everyone, since it was about three threads below this one. If it comes to PS4 (which it may well do), I'll get both.
  15. Maybe you could send the second copy to @Wii as a Christmas gift. :p
  16. Really? Hmm, wonder if it's worth trying then? As for items, I don't think I used that many, except for the flamethrower (hnnnnnnnng). I used the noisemaker once and it was absolute carnage, I shit myself. Don't think I used it many times after that. Easy sounds interesting now. Could make that my next difficulty when I go through it again.
  17. That all sounds very interesting. It looks wonderful and I admire all of the enthusiasm and love that has gone into it. I'm almost sold on it purely on the basis that 65Days are doing the soundtrack. Just...so much YES.
  18. Trying it on easy would be horrible, imo. It's meant to be hard and unforgiving. Even through playing it on hard (and I am by no means a great gamer...in fact, I would say that I'm pretty poor at games in comparison to a lot of others out there) I survived it and didn't think it was unfair. Be prepared for a long answer, because I feel that's the only way to give you the correct information. Do you need knowledge of the movies/franchises to enjoy it? Absolutely not. You can quite easily have never seen Aliens/Alien3/Resurrection (fuck the AvP films) and will have a great time with this. It's solely based on the first film. Do you need knowledge of the original film or its plot to enjoy the game? I don't think so. But, I feel that you get way more out of it than if you do than if you know nothing. I'll start off by explaining the ship. There aren't many settings in this game and it is almost entirely played on space vessels. They contain a certain aesthetic look, almost a "retro" look based on it being what the future could look like from the 1970s. You're not going to see tablets or holograms, because that wasn't really believed to be part of the future, or at least it wasn't in the original. Instead, you'll have this padded-like material to the ways with a combination of clinical white corridors mixed in with industrial piping for certain areas (where the vast part of the machinery is to keep the ship running).
  19. I agree. Although, that image of Miyamoto holding up the GamePad to the screen to play the game doesn't tell the full story, in my opinion. I wonder if he's holding it up to show that the GP plays a big role (the two different viewpoints) rather than actually using the motion sensors/holding the GP to the screen to make it work. Otherwise, the game will be very tedious to play for longer periods than a few minutes if that's the case. I'm not very optimistic about this. From the poor initial reveal to the information we're getting that it'll be out before Zelda, I'm not filled with optimism.
  20. We've just started this tonight. Season 1 episode 1. Loving the feel of it so far, hoping that it delivers.
  21. I can't bear to watch the entire video. It's slightly ironic that they talk about the game being stretched out unnecessarily in a video which is...21 minutes long. I would question what they think of the movie, since that movie is very slow and deliberate in a lot of places. It doesn't lend itself naturally to a video game. My criticism would be that the game could be slightly shorter, but it does get progressively better. The last five or so chapters are particularly well done. In fact, from the half way point onwards, the game is excellent. Some won't enjoy the "puzzle" nature/tactic to opening doors or accessing certain areas. Do I think it fits in with the world that they tried to create? In my opinion, hell yes. They poked fun at the doors and opening them...well...the station is under lockdown and there are devices in place to seal off certain areas since they were trying to contain a threat. You have to use the blow torch to he emergency handles, there are braces to hold a door shut and security codes put in place to shut off areas. In my opinion, it all fits in. To fully enjoy the game, you have to buy into the world that they're striving for and understand some of the lore. Nobody really complains when you have to push blocks or flick switches in Zelda because you accept it as of that world. What else do they talk about? Not watching the whole thing. Edit: I'm assuming that they played the game on its intended difficulty- Hard?
  22. First off, apologies to @lostmario for keeping you so late. I didn't get back from work til late and then needed to drop Ine off to her work's Christmas do and then had to meet a friend to exchange Christmas gifts before picking Ine up. I hadn't had my dinner yet and was late due to needing a shower, hence why Ine sent you the PSN message, haha. Second of all, that game was excellent! I really, really enjoyed it. De Gea was an absolute mountain for me but my defence are poop. I'm jealous that you have Cahill, as he seems to have a bit of pace about him and coped with Rooney and Falcao quite well. I played most of that game on the counter. I tell you what, this United team are much, much faster with Di Maria in the attacking midfield position and Rooney up front and with Van Persie on the bench. I created more today than I have done in my previous matches. I almost won it with that Falcao chance which went wide. I think I worked the ball into good positions, passed it well. I started off VERY slow though and fucked up for the first few minutes. I think you deserved at least a point, so a draw is a fair result. I would have loved to have hung on for the win, but 1-1 is a tremendous result for me, considering the pasting you gave Drahkon. For me, the downside is that I still haven't won a game, but I feel that I have the capacity to do so now. Thanks for your patience and thanks for the excellent game. Think we had well over 30 shots between us, that's crazy.
  23. I was watching the Strongman Championships from God knows what year yesterday. Some of the weight that these guys were pressing...feelsverybadman. You're going to need that perfect base to push off, so your legs and core need to be strong. Posture is important and then it's all down to the upper body. I look at the weight I'm currently pressing and I'm thinking am I ever going to get to a point where I can press double that? Seems impossible. That would be one hell of an achievement. It'll take years to even give myself a chance at reaching that.
  24. Overhead pressing is the one that I've always struggled with. The first three sets killed me. Good luck with your recovery. I too had some hip pain before that has thankfully healed over. There was a period where I almost stopped squatting entirely, especially heavy, because of the pain. Feels good to be back on it.
  25. Nobody really wins because: It's even more pointless considering the argument originally came from a discussion about The Last of Us, where I'm pretty sure you had the option to go for either 30FPS or 60. So...everyone is happy.
