  1. Whether they like it or not, or whether they choose to or not, they are seen as role models by thousands/millions. They earn a shit ton of money that we will never ever come close to earning, they earn their crust by participating in a sport (the dream of males aged 9 to 90), they score goals, play with some of the best in their profession against top class opposition, they date super models, own multiple properties in several countries, they appear on television, on the internet, on the radio doing interviews, in magazines, they have their names chanted by thousands of people each week and have their names printed onto the backs of the shirts belong to their fans. How are they NOT seen as role models? Many aspire to be these people, whether they're footballers, track athletes, formula one drivers or whatever. It's but a small burden to bear for having such an extravagant lifestyle.
  2. I got this on PlaystationPlus as one of the monthly games. U maaaaaaad? It looks great but I haven't had the time or urgency to play it.
  3. That's what I mean about the choice. He shouldn't even be thinking about football until either he's found innocent or he admits his guilt. Obviously admitting his guilt would ruin his appeal because...he would be delivering two very mixed messages (you can't be guilty and innocent at the same time, at least not with this crime). It's an either or basically. If he pursues this appeal, he has to deal with the possibility that he may lose it. What happens then? It'll take a brave club to take him back.
  4. Yeah, that brings many issues itself. He's claiming his innocence and I don't think it'll be easy for any club to take him on and fans to accept him as one of their own if that issue isn't resolved. In my opinion, he shouldn't be looking for a club until either he is found innocent or until he admits that this is what he has done. Obviously the courts felt that the law had been broken and he was guilty of this crime. I read an article the other day about him from somebody who questioned whether or not Ched Evans actually understood what rape is/was.
  5. Haha, it's a right mess, isn't it? The whole point of having a prison/justice system in place is for the victims of the crime to have the means to seek lawful justice and for the people committing the crime to be punished. So, in that regard, Ched Evans has been punished. It raises the question: what do we do with people who have broken the law once they have been punished? He needs to be integrated into society somehow, so...where? If we are a society who won't allow criminals to rebuild their lives and start over, what's the point in having a prison system? There are three major issues behind him returning to football: 1. He hasn't shown any remorse for his crime. By doing this, he will never be "forgiven" or given a proper chance by the fans of any club he goes to. 2. He will be making a ton of money. He could have a large percentage of his money donated to rape charities or domestic violence charities or something. 3. He will be seen as a role model. My answer to this would be to have him return to the club but his name wouldn't be allowed to be said on television, radio or in the match notes, either for the duration of the contract or until a certain time has passed. Club shirts wouldn't be sold with his name on the back and he would have to undergo workshops where he discusses with young people how he has made a mistake, community service basically. I dunno, it's a mess.
  6. I'm still doing Stronglifts. Made good progress with it before Christmas and had a two/three week break as we went to Belgium and also visited my family back home. I'm back on it now but have dropped the weight by a fair bit to get me back into it. It's also another opportunity to make sure that my form is good. I was squatting yesterday and Ine noticed that I was getting good depth with it. It felt really comfortable yesterday and think I did better this time around than when I was previously reaching that weight for the first time under stronglifts. My legs definitely feel stronger.
  7. So, what does everyone think about Ched Evans possibly going to Oldham? Also, United sign Valdes! Panic...we better not be selling Dea Gea. Back up for him and selling Lindegaard is fine.
  8. In fairness to Kav, he does say "losing" instead of losing. As in it's a continual process. Whether they have lost them or not is almost a different question as to whether they're losing them currently. Imo, you're both right. Nintendo perhaps hasn't lost them yet but they are in the process of doing so. Especially if they proceed down the route of gimmicks, more controllers, no online, no voice chat, no mature games, no third parties, no sports titles, etc. The problem is that there is more than one type of gamer. There will always be a certain crowd who follow Nintendo. Someone like @Hero\-of\-Time for example who wants to own everything and play everything. This is, however, a niche audience and it's fucking expensive doing so.
  9. That is out of touch because that's not the way to deal with the issue. There are many ways to tackle that problem. Only having the chat option available to those on your friend list/some form of party chat feature, having the mute feature, parental controls to limit which modes they can turn off (would be a great idea), these are some of the ways to deal with it. Nintendo are supposedly a company who caters to all, so they should aim to do just that. By not including such features as voice chat (or not even putting the online features in in the first place ala Nintendoland, 3D World), they are alienating a significant portion of their audience. It also affects their image to a certain extent. They've had the kiddy-console maker label for years and doing things like that would just serve to further that notion.
  10. Ah, 4-2-3-1? I suggested that ages ago! *runs very quickly...falls over as his pro is fat as fuck* Sounds good, hope I can get on soon.
  11. Near enough every game we've lost has been largely down to the computer doing something that one of us wouldn't have done. Like, they suddenly give up and let a player go through on goal. We can get away with it with the left and right back positions and possibly wingers, but we need humans through the middle. We need two centre-backs, a defensive mid, an attacking mid and two strikers at least, or something like that. We'll win way more games that way as we'll concede far less.
  12. Nintendo's games certainly haven't evolved in the way that I would have liked them to. I remember we were on GameCube-Europe, years back. When online gaming started to become a thing on consoles, we were all talking about 32player online F Zero races. A new Mario Kart with story modes and tooooons of options, online and offline. New Nintendo franchises with Retro Studios becoming an important piece of the puzzle. More survival horrors like Eternal Darkness. A really big emphasis on story-telling. Jaw dropping graphics and sound. If I showed the young me the way things currently are on the WiiU, I definitely know that I would have been disappointed.
  13. Lol, I think he's joking. Think they know each other outside of the forum. I might be wrong, but think he's joking. Dazzy is great in his position, though. Can't argue with his record. Lost, if you're going in defence then perhaps I could join you. Not sure if you remember, but my character was intended to start off as a centreback before I went into midfield. Hence why he's built like a house and slow as fuck.
  14. You're implying that Nintendo will fix their problems or that the problems aren't that big to begin with. They've actually got tons and tons of issues and the list is growing. 1. Third parties are disappearing and this is a trend that has been going on for numerous generations. They didn't get as much support for the N64 as the Playstation and the trend has continued to today. The Wii in particular missed out on so many franchises and games because it couldn't cope with it technically. Nintendo haven't rectified this problem with the WiiU and I think it's even worse now that they've lost EA. 2. Your typical teenage gamer who plays COD and Fifa won't go anywhere near a Nintendo machine. They've lost this particular audience and I can't see how they're going to attract them. 3. Nintendo don't give you particularly good value for money for the console as an entertainment system. I use the PS4 to also watch my films now, making my 3D Blu-ray player redundant. It happened with the Gamecube and it carried on with the Wii. It's an advantage when buying the system and comparing them. Look at the price of the WiiU and look at the price of the PS4 and One. Subtract the cost of a 3D Blu-ray player and when you add in the fact that the One and PS4 are much more powerful than the WiiU, you can see just how poor value for money the WiiU is. 4. Nintendo have problems creating new IPs and are too heavily reliant on their older names to attract the older crowd. Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong. Kirby can now be added to that list. 5. They're burning gamers who just want to play games by being so focused on the input method rather than the end product; the games themselves. Gamers want to play new games, they don't necessarily want to learn a new input method and it doesn't necessarily mean the finished product will be any better for it. How many gamers were turned off by motion controls with the Wii and how many dislike the WiiU's controller? 6. They have an image problem and are seen as the "quirky" games company. They're seen as child-ish and as a result they have a hard time attracting more mature content for the WiiU. Did the Walking Dead games (the great ones) appear on the system? Why not? 7. They're not embracing online and look for reasons not to include it. When games have it, there's usually some sort of catch. Last gen it was friend codes, this time it's no voice chat. Online isn't seen as a standard on the system but rather as a very optional extra that is sometimes offered. There's more, but my coffee has now gone cold. They've got massive problems and I fear for them. I've gone from loving the Wii to hating the WiiU and I won't be getting the next system at launch out of principle. Not sure if I'll even bother at all because , imo, they're not doing enough to attract me to them. Just want to state that this is all my personal feeling and I'm not stating it as the facts, but rather how I see things.
  15. Of course it's always ideal to have your friends at hand so you can play a few games together. However, it's not always an option. Having the online modes gives you another option and it's just better choice for the gamer. People change and so do their circumstances. They move away to study or move to a different area away from people that they know. If you're able to play games with them through the internet, it's another way to carry on having a good time with them and keeping that friendship going. If you have children in the house or an intensive job, maybe it's not always possible to invite friends over during the week or for certain periods of time. There's lots of reasons. We've had quite a good following on here taking part in the Pro Clubs on Fifa and it wouldn't be anywhere near as good if you're not able to communicate with them. Giving more options to the gamer is never a bad thing, even if you never use them yourself. I never used the co-op in 3D world for example and mainly played the game in singleplayer, but I was grateful that it was there to begin with. (would've played it more had it been online, but that's for another thread entirely)
  16. I remember getting pissed off at this game and didn't really go back to it as a result. I was on some sort of ledge or plank or scaffolding or something and ended up falling off. Instant kill. Didn't seem that high up to me. I was so annoyed and wasn't sure how it actually happened. Anyway, I went back to get my weapons and didn't see a ZombiMe and realised that I had lost all everything. Didn't play for much after that.
  17. Well, that's not exactly true. Think of the Luigi's Mansion game where you had player one as the ghost and every else trying to catch him. That could also work online, just instead of having people in the same room, you could have people in different locations. You'd still have player 1 seeing both himself on screen and seeing what others see on the tv screen, whilst of course the other players wouldn't be able to see the ghost. So...it would be exactly the same. One person would be getting a different experience to the other/s. (it would also eliminate people who "screen cheat" by trying to look at your screen during gameplay if you were the ghost) Communication is important in multiplayer or co-op games. That's part of the reason why you're doing it and not just playing a single player game because you want to have that interaction with another person or group of people. Nintendoland itself is fun in multiplayer and part of the reason for that is because you're with your mates and are having a good time, a laugh and a joke together. @kav82's example is correct; you wouldn't play a local multiplayer game and sit in silence, so why would you consider this fine for online?
  18. I could be wrong or I might have forgotten something, but I'm pretty sure that Nintendoland came with the Premium 32gb WiiU. So, if you wanted to get the version with the bigger hard drive, you had to get one of the bundles (think there was another with ZombiU and another with Lego City, but these were more expensive from what I remember) The game should have had online modes included purely for the element of choice. It's not an either/or scenario where you could only have one or the other. There's no real excuse or reason why online wasn't included and it would have given many WiiU owners a multiplayer title that they can play both locally and online right out of the box. As a result of it, the game only gets used when we've got people over, whereas it could have been used daily. The game itself is fine but I probably wouldn't have bought it had it not come with the console. As least, not full price. £4 or whatever for it is a great deal.
  19. Happy birthday ModMen! May your day be blessed with Fifa and Cider.
  20. Would dance naked through the street singing the circle of life accompanied by Clint Mansell and the Kronos Quartet if Nintendo gave us a new F Zero with online multiplayer AND voice chat during the race.
  21. But..but.. He bought it. Even if it's not technically here, he still owns it. Ooooh, debate: Does the item become yours when you exchange the monies or when you hold it in your talons? JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ONE OF US, MOOGLE.
  22. I've not been on the PS4 for two days. I spent yesterday watching the game, working out and doing work for school. Had an inset day today and have come home and done mooooore work. Christmas is over, brahs.
  23. We MotoG-brahs now?
  24. My tip would be to never ever fucking run or even walk unless you are absolutely sure that you can see your exit and that you know you're going to make it without attracting the alien or synthetics. Crouch. Crouch like your life depended on it and plan what you're going to do before you do it. There will be times where you die repeatedly, but as long as you learn from what you did wrong, you'll make it through. Sometimes you're best off avoiding confrontation. There are many ways around this as you will learn. The sound is incredible and it's probably got the best sound design of any game I've ever played. They really nailed this and it adds to the atmosphere in just so many ways. Enjoy!
  25. Rummikub, I own a Moto G and can confirm that it is nice. Am also on GiffGaff. Haven't had any complaints so far. If you're looking for an android on a tight budget, this is the phone to go for. DO EEEET.
