The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019
Ronnie replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
There's a difference between 'discussing the game' and 'talking about and showing an easter egg/surprise found in one room in the game'. You spoiler-d the image, so obviously recognise that its somewhat spoilery context. If Nintendo tweeted it then whatever, fair enough, I'm just a bit bored of the modern trend in video games were everyone knows everything about a game before release. There was literally zero surprises in Smash because they'd shown everything. Same with tons of other games. What happened to just finding things out as you play the game. Add to that leaks and the like and there's almost no surprises left in games. -
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019

I'd spoiler tag the whole thing. People who haven't played the original might not know he's in the game and people that have might wonder if they kept him in. -
Even if the Switch doesn't reach 100 million (it probably will anyway) I suspect itll be considered a bigger success than the Wii, thanks to software sales. Crazy numbers across the board. Apart from Starlink

I was really disappointed there was no sequel announcement at that Tom Clancy Ubisoft conference this year. Have to imagine it's coming though, and if it's shown off next year a 3 year dev cycle should mean it's a meaty sequel. Definitely agree with this. A real gem.

It's ridiculously cheap in a family plan, I'm surprised more people don't take advantage of that. As if £18 a year isn't cheap enough

Looks amazing and if it's as story/quest heavy as Witcher, wow.

CDPR are doing a livestream at 7pm UK time showing 15 minutes of gameplay. I think it's what the media saw at E3 behind closed doors, but edited down for time, but I could be wrong.

Also, and I'll probably get this shit for this but that whole SJW virtue signalling bit was cringe-worthy. Wish they could get this tedious and delusional gender politics out of the game, or at least their presentation. Just smacked of "Hey ResetEra, look at us!! you can all talk about how amazing we are now"

"We've been working on Dig for a about a year and there's a fair way to go" - joy, looking forward to playing this (bizarelly shameless) rip off of Steamworld Dig in 2024. You'd think if they were going to rip off Nintendo's style of Direct they could also rip off their preference for shorter reveal > release windows. King of Cards looks ok, seems like mostly the same stages again, just remixed as usual. Was hoping for a stealth drop or a release in the next couple of weeks, but no, still four months away in December.

Those courses look so boring, super wide tracks with barely any challenging turns.

Yeah I guess this is it, I just think it's a shame, but at the same time I'm glad to have lived through the 90s/00s when we were getting all those new big budget film events. I also think a new Marvel film releasing every few months has 100% monopolosised and stymied non-superhero blockbuster action films though. Also a shame, at least for people like me who got bored of them after the 9th (or was it 12th?).

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20th 2019)
Ronnie replied to Julius's topic in General Chit Chat
I only tend to watch the first teaser trailers for each of the sequel films so I'm going to try and be strong and not watch that. -
Isn't that the same with any AAA PS4 game though? Funnily enough God of War was the opposite for me. The console felt like it was going to take off every time I went into the menu, but then calmed down a little bit when in gameplay
-
Of course there's plenty of original work. I'm talking more big budget type tentpole releases. Things like Jurassic Park, Toy Story, Alien, Kill Bill, Independence Day, Stargate, the Matrix, Titanic, Contact, Avatar, Men in Black, Austin Powers, Armageddon, Fifth Element, Now it just seems to be either remakes, sequels a decade or two too late, or (and what I suspect is the real culprit) a new Marvel/superhero film every few weeks.
-
Feels like the three live action series might each tap into a different aspect of Star Wars... The Mandalorian: bounty hunting/criminal underworld Cassian Andor: rebel intelligence, spy, military side of things Obi Wan: Jedi and the force
-
Why is there so little original content these days? Instead it's The Lion King remade, or Top Gun 2, or five and a half thousand Marvel films and series based on existing comic books, or a rebooted Addams Family, or Matrix 4...
-
Coooool. I hate to go all "crusading Reddit gamer" though but two and a half years after Specter of Torment, King of Clubs better be a fucking amazing standalone.

New Switch revision announced (NOT the Switch Lite!)
Ronnie replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That happens everytime I get a new iPhone. I compare screens and one is yellow, the other blue. I couldn't tell you which I prefer, colder or warmer screens, my eyes just adjust within an hour. -
Why did he put his own logo in the game like that? I guess I just don’t “get” the Kojima worship
-
The art style is really nice, and the scenery looks lovely. It's just a little weird how NPCs are always so static. No one is walking around! I assume it's a technical challenge for them?

Nintendo Switch Lite announced - Releasing Sept. 20

I played Ori for the first time a few months ago and fell in love. It might be more linear and straightforward a Metroidvania compared to something like Hollow Knight, but it's still a beautiful game. What a shame that moron on twitter felt the need to spoil to surprise for everyone. Hope those few extra follows were worth it. Great showing for me personally, The Touryst from Shin'en looks amazing. Very interested in Earth Night, Roki and Eastward and possible Youropa + a few more on that sizzle reel. That's what I love about these Showcases, showing us brand new indie games the majority of people will have never seen before. I guess Silksong and King of Cards belong more in a proper Direct so in hindsight were unlikely to show up here.
-
Silksong is my most anticipated game too, if we get a release date today that said, let them take all the time they need, a month a year, two, whatever. Otherwise, I'd like to see Spelunky (and the sequel) coming to Switch, it's about time really. Steamworld Dig 3 would be great but Quest just came out so probably a long while off. Shovel Knight King of Cards surely has to be ready by now? Also it'd be nice to see another Nintendo IP given to a big name dev.
