Got a free car today. Well, almost free. My dad bought a new car, so he's said I can have his old one, providing I buy him a McDonald's at some point. It's nothing too glamorous, but it'll do as a workhorse and keep the miles off my Civic and Scirocco.

Nah, we were like "Yo, could you put a new red toilet seat in, but then trample all over it and make it look nice and dusty?" Actual answer: The photo makes it look redder than it actually is. The black cistern is original to the house. Our bathroom and toilet were basically like a saw movie before we started. Barely any better than it is currently to be honest.

Well that's fucked it. Fortunately it's all planned and will be much nicer in about 2 weeks. We're knocking through so the toilet and bathroom are one room and we're having a nice new suite put in.

Some more NFS:Heat screenshots:

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20th 2019)

The crystals are also in Knights of the Old Republic when customising your lightsaber. I can't remember if they add stats or just determine the colour. -

I forgot that Luke had 2. I think it was because it showed his green one earlier in a flashback which confused me. -
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20th 2019)

My main gripe with the film is that there were no consequences to anything. Also, I may be misremembering it, but shouldn't one of the lightsabers at the end have been green? -
I'm sure we used to have a screenshot thread, but I can't seem to find it so here's a new one. NFS: Heat is a rather good looking game, although the photo mode could do with being labelled a bit better (you hold the right stick in to access it and the game doesn't explain that at all).

I've been meaning to get both of them for a while, but I've been waiting for the price to come down. DOA has been cheap for a while, but I just hadn't got round to ordering it. As I saw NFS was cheap, I figured I'd order both together. NFS: Heat is pretty good so far. The police are absolute bullshit, but other than that, it's a decent game.

My top games in no particular order. Also, I can't be arsed to do 10, so I'll just keep going until I cover them all. Shenmue 3 The fact that it exists at all is enough in itself, the fact that it exists in the form that it does it is just incredible. They took the insane decision to update it just enough to bring in some modern conveniences, but generally leave it exactly as it was on the Dreamcast. Lot of games claim to be "for the fans" but I feel Shenmue 3 truly was, even if it potentially alienated any newcomers with it's archaic gameplay. Red Dead Redemption 2 Absolutely the best storytelling and game world in my opinion. The way the story plays out was just great and combined with the stunning scenery and music makes it one of the best examples of mature storytelling. Persona 4: Golden and 5 I'm going to lump them into one, as they're basically great for the same reason. Awesome story, characters and style. Persona 4 has the better story and characters and Persona 5 has the better style and music, but both are amazing. Nier: Automata I don't think I've ever played a game with gameplay this good before or since. Just moving around the world was fun in itself, especially when combined with the great soundtrack. The story got a little bit "anime" at times, but there were some great moments (poor Pascal) littered throughout. The Witcher 3 The first game I got on the PS4 and probably my favourite fantasy RPG. Consistently great in all areas and filled with loads of interesting side missions and stories. May have to go back and play it again now that the series is out on Netflix. Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) Cheating a bit, as it's a remake of a 2005/2006 game, but it's still a great game and from what I've read, the PS4 version is the version it always deserved. I just love the setting and the way the story plays out. There's a certain sadness and loneliness to it that makes it a really memorable experience. Pokemon Go Mainly just for the sheer phenomenon of it. I remember walking around town playing it and always being able to see at least one other person playing, wherever I went. I even had an old guy who was stood outside his shop, wishing me good hunting. For the first month or so, it was like actually being in a Pokemon game, with the whole world apparently obsessed with Pokemon.

Just saw this pop up on Facebook. Not a fan to be honest. Seems to miss the tone of the originals to me. Even though I found the trailer for the reboot painfully unfunny, it seemed to at least try to match the original's style. This just seems like someone tried to combine the retro aesthetic of Stranger Things with modern day. Also, children for some reason. Also, how the fuck could anyone forget/not know about the events of the first movie? Surely everyone would still be like "Hey guys, remember that time thousands of ghosts, including a fucking huge marshmallow man took over New York for a bit? That shit was wild".

Ex-fucking-scuse me?

Depends on the game for me. As long as the story remains interesting, I'm happy for a game to go on forever (not literally, but almost). Same goes for MMOs if they really click with me. I still go back to GTA Online once in a while to see what's new. Admittedly, there aren't many MMOs that appeal to me nowadays. As for more action based games where the plot isn't the main focus, I reckon around 10 hours is good.

Consider the verticality, obviously.

I think my highlights have been Persona 5, Witcher 3, Shenmue 3 (and the 1 and 2 collection), Until Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, Nier Automata and GTAV. All masterpieces IMO.

Damn it, so close to Christmas and with my savings in tatters after my car died. WHY?! If it was a bit cheaper or my money situation was better, I'd be all over that. Literally my favourite game of all time (although a few others are quite close).

It's like they're all trying to be human, but can't quite get the nuances down.
-
I get one too. Don't think it's a whole month before, but it's definitely enough in advance to cancel if I want to. Edit: just checked and I get an email 2 weeks before renewal is due

Well, I just fanboyed so goddamn hard. I won't spoil it, but it's just after you have to speak to a female monk at a temple and have to search a room.

The more I play Shenmue 3, the more I'm amazed it exists as it does. It's an awful game and I love it for being so bad. There have been very few updates to the gameplay, clunky controls, awful voice acting or slow pacing of the originals, which is going to make a lot of people who never played the originals wonder how anyone could possibly like such a terrible game. They could have updated the gameplay and brought it up to modern standards, but they didn't. It's clearly been done as an attempt to appeal to fans, rather than attract newcomers. The new additions and changes aren't my favourite, such as the food/stamina system or the weird black fades, but they're not a huge deal to me. I can absolutely see why a lot of people won't like it. It's a shit game, just like the originals are if you go back and play them now. But it's a sequel to a series that came out when I was 15 and was the first time I ever experienced a proper, mature story. The world is one that sucked me in so many years ago and was incredible at the time. The fact that just playing this takes me back to that time so accurately is mind-blowing to me and I'm very grateful that they took the, quite frankly insane, decision to release such an accurate recreation of the Dreamcast originals, warts and all (and a few extras thrown in for good measure).

Anyone know how the skill book exchange works? It seems to imply you can do it from the menu, but I have all the ingredients and it doesn't seem to give me to option to exchange for the books. Edit: Ignore me, apparently it needs to be done at the pawn shop, which I've just found.

Some new wheel centre caps for the Civic to replace the faded ones currently on it: And some valve caps because what's the point of having a Type R if you don't display the badge on everything you can? And finally, some Mighty Car Mods stickers. Probably won't use most of them, but it was cheaper to buy a pack than just the ones I wanted:
