Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (Out Now!)
darksnowman replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
+1 for being Xenobladed. Got the Switch version after the 3 reveal thinking I could knock it and the other/s out before 3 later in the year but I'm not so sure about that anymore at all. I'm further than I got on the Wii so that's progress however... I'm not feeling the time played : rewards reaped ratio is right. I feel I've put in the hours and questage to be like this: [insert applicable boss] Yet my levels are just keeping up with bosses so when I rock in like in the image, the bosses are like "mwahahaha you pipsqueaks!" and dispatch with me without batting an eyelid. Imagine if I was gunning it through the story and ignoring sidequests. Average encounters are a doddle (resulting in the exp gain being reduced massively to prevent over-levelling...) but the bosses are brick walls to me. There's got to be something staring me in the face about the battle system that I'm missing. If only there were healing items I could dig in and fight and heal to the end. I'm not even joking. This is a Wii game. Granny should be able to cruise through it and enjoy the nice story about the bad machines attacking your home colony for crying out loud. I'll have to have another look at it as I think overall it's a great game... though it makes a good case for the answer being yes when the question is can you have too much of a good thing because the game + bonus content should have been done 20 hours ago, imo. So I'm not only on a break from RPGs but also long games at the moment. SMT V and all remain unopened for a while yet, and it's probably for the best that I'm leaning towards keeping my powder dry with Chrono Cross to see if the packaged edition is coming as I'm not really in the mood to engage with an RPG right now thanks to Xenoblade. Need to get my head back in the grind for Live-A-Live (or sooner). -
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (Out Now!)

@Julius I'm all for speculating and enjoying the "will they won't they" in the build-up to a game's release, but the way people spat the dummy is what I don't particularly like seeing. Okay, it wasn't crystal clear but that was the other day and the game is out next week. It's not a long time to wait and see what the final product is like. I've seen the FF VII & VIII pack on shelves which is what gives me a glimmer of hope. It was originally Asia only too as far as I mind. -
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (Out Now!)
darksnowman replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Do western game developers and publishers put out all their info simultaneously in various languages? I'm not so sure. S-E and Nintendo have fact pages for this game in English that we can refer to. Personally, I'm okay with that and not having every single tweet put out in multiple languages but maybe that's just me. So if there was 20 mins of gameplay why did no one check it out (or post it here!) to see if the music is new tracks? If there was a cart version I'd have it ordered. If I knew 100% there is never going to be a cart I'd have the eShop edition pre-loaded. I've still got a bitter, bitter taste in my mouth from Game Builder Garage which came out on cart three or four months later, so dunno whether to stick or twist with this one. -

You'll see further down the list an easy mode battle enhancement has been added. Anyway, S-E put an update on their page regarding the refined music. Like, it's hardly their fault t'Internet is ready to get het up about these details instead of--shock horror!--seeking clarification. Think it's best to refer to the S-E and Nintendo pages for the most accurate info. Even if it is only a short sentence or bullet point. So... what've the Japanese fans got to say about this whole debacle? Oh, they haven't been jumping to conclusions since they aren't going off iffy translations... -
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (Coming to Switch on 12th April 2022)
darksnowman replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I've had this on my mental watchlist and now it's almost here I'm not sure if it's a day one buy to show Atlus people on Switch want their stuff, or just wait and grab it on sale a bit further down the line. I'm leaning towards the latter at the moment as buying to show support in the past hasn't really yielded the further support I've been hoping for. -

Just got the April newsletter in my inbox. First thing I noticed is CHRONO CROSS: THE RADICAL DREAMS EDITION is in caps. Calm down S-E. I clicked through the link to see if the music gets a mention and I wasn't left wanting. https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/CHRONO-CROSS-THE-RADICAL-DREAMERS-EDITION-2170786.html Reckon the bullet point would be "All new music!", especially this close to release, if that was indeed the case so I think it's safe to say the tunes are souped-up but unchanged... at least until we are told any different when people actually get around to playing the game. -
You can multi-archive if that's any help. Ruthless! Well, maybe you should be better at keeping on top of deleting and you wouldn't be in this situation. Had to remove some stuff recently myself to make room for the Kirby demo which I deleted after playing (among other stuff) to make room for the Mario Kart update, FAR: Lone Sails, Bastian, Gris. My way of doing it is to sweep through and delete demos or free-to-play games that I'm not sticking with. I've an SD card in there so my fridge capacity will be larger than yours but still needs managing. As time goes on, I find myself prioritising my interest in eShop games by their filesize. As you mention, it doesn't take long to claim back a decent whack of space... because so many of those games could be better compressed/ optimised to cut down on their allocation. Folders count as a miracle for Nintendo! I've done one group so far. Unplayed. Here's what I found for it: - The Bridge - Doom 3 - Possibly Doom 2 but I cannot remember if I've played it on Switch or not. - SteamWorld Heist - Down in Bermuda - Paratopic I've had the first four of them for years and the other two for multiple eShop sales (if not years...!). Reckon I could come up with more if I had a proper look. Some point and click games I got for a quid or so each and can't remember if I've played them all or not.

Nicely done. So the stairlift was a highlight for you then. Do you remember roughly how many levels are in it? Only played up to the excavating level (level 2...?) the other night and wouldn't mind having a bash at going through the game in its entirety.

That opportunity for João Pedro in the second half felt like he was just getting the shot away for the sake of completing the move in the belief that play'd be brought back for an offside in the approach. When you see the replay it doesn't look like there was an offside so if he'd stuck it away (and he should have) the goal would surely have stood. I'd like to know what Jurgen sees in Matip in training. He always looks like he has a mistake in him... I'd put him in the Djimi Traoré category. Whereas Joe Gomez looks calm, solid, skilful and unrufflable similar to Virgil yet hardly gets a look in. Every match is a potential banana skin but even more so the early kick-offs as the atmosphere is always a bit flat. That's the Pool top of the league for at least a few hours then. Over to Pep. It was already looking grim for Watford. Think that's them cut loose now.

X-2 is also a download on Switch. Only X is on the cart. -

I can pop in FF X on Switch and check if either of you know where the music swap option would be found? Tbh I can't think of any S-E games I have on Switch that have dual soundtracks. Perhaps SaGa Frontier? It's honestly not something I've gone looking for. Is it hidden somewhere in the DQ NES trilogy? Apparently, this is all just a misunderstanding as the music will be the same as the original, just higher quality, cleaned up, upscaled. Square-Enix calls this "refined". This is the update: From further down the page: https://square-enix-games.com/en_GB/news/chrono-cross-the-radical-dreamers-edition -
Keep the clips coming! I haven't seen this stuff in decades. Had a go on the game earlier and was down to my last 20% health on the granny stairlift bonus room.

My point of contention remains the cart so I'd like to see them addressing that for Europe. -
If correct, this is really putting the n in n-europe. What's next? Revealing that the S in S.C.G stands for Sonic? Shadow?? Sega???

N-E Mario Kart 8 DX Get Together (Theme Night this week)

Nice races, everyone! As soon as Glen-i didn't win a race there was "a communication error"... total rage quit. -

Do you need confirmation on a week-to-week basis? Pretty sure I'm in but I'll post later if I have to withdraw. -
Peter Puppy was always such a wet blanket but yes, just been humming this to myself during a call. The way I always remember it is "Earthworm Jim, he's such a groovy guy! Earthworm Jim, his suit fell from the sky!" Hearing the correct version again will only serve as a momentary correction I'm sure. I've never played EWJ 2 so definitely looking forward to giving it a whirl and launching some cows or whatever they've added. No-one else ever think that Frog pulls out an Earthworm Jim arm when he victory flexes?? I can never not-see it.

Feels nice when you get everything in a level on your first pass through. -
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Nice one with getting a transcript up, @S.C.G Very handy as I didn't pay much attention to what was said other than the date. First thing they showed was an underground area, they've since shown the sky. To expand beyond... The final frontier? Nah it'll be some Shiekah Scuba Gear for some Endless Ocean exploration with seahorses that are big enough to ride. -
This film had completely slipped my mind.

I think you'll find it's because they saw @Helmsly recently powering through BotW again, so they're being like yeeoo should've paced yersel. -

Totally agree with where you're coming from, @killthenet. I don't know how I was going to fit in another huge Zelda game at the back end of this year. (Not that I expect to be any better positioned for it in 12 months' time. ) I wonder if they have another little Zelda title in the E3 pipeline to tide fans over this year. Something on the scale of the Necrodancer crossover although A Link Between Worlds on Switch would be fantastic... or throw that DSiWare Zelda anniversary thing on the eShop. What're the chances of it getting pushed to Summer 2023 and next E3 being BotW2 only. -

Very happy about this. Tbh, I kind of wish they were taking time to compact it down. Here's hoping it ends up being something special. -
There's an obvious trio of your purchases there I'll give my stamp of approval to, @Julius. The rest, well, hope you enjoy having 'em.
