Thanks for the info, @Helmsly. I thought that overnight maintenance was just going to be the usual stability updates, perhaps Mario Kart related or just to get the next set of icons on the NSO app... certainly nothing like folders. There's a message from Amelia N. on the Switch news feed with an update button at the bottom. Now that games can be grouped I'm not sure what I want to do with it anymore. A group of unplayed might be a good start.

Hadn't seen that but you're right. GODS Remastered is 89p! https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/GODS-Remastered-1535292.html#Overview Extensive new soundtrack? I'm willing to wrap my ears around that for less than a pound. In other news, it appears I've been made a mug of re: Bastion. I got it no questions asked off the Nintendo webpage and started it up under the pretence I was delving into a 2D platformer! Believe me, I wasn't long in hopping onto the Switch eShop to check the publisher's page to see what I'm confusing it with... and I'm none the wiser.

Limbo was good stuff. Just a lot of dying and retrying but well worth the sale 89p I paid for it. Where I found Inside to be disturbing and unsettling, Limbo didn't affect me at all. Could be because of the black and white art style, or it could be because if that boy's in limbo then he's already dead so what harm are a few dozen more gruesome deaths going to do to him. I'd recommend both if you see them on sale. Where Inside was an experience, Limbo errs more on the side of being a game (but is still abstract in its own way).

Resident Evil: Capcom are copycats... ;)

Recent Retronauts is about Resident Evil and might interest you, @CrowingJoe79 if you haven't listened to it already. https://retronauts.com/article/1853/retronauts-episode-440-resident-evil-vs-resident-evil-vs-resident-evil They've done previous RE episodes too which you might be up your alley. -
Kirby and the Forgotten Land (March 25th 2022)

NoE have shared a spot of gameplay as we close in on release day. -
Know what I don't care about? Harry Potter. Sure, it had a nice thing going for it around the turn of the millennium as an up and coming "Roald Dahl series for modern-day children and adults alike" sort of thing but for me nosedived after the third entry, and my honest opinion is that I wish it had vanished off the face of the earth after the concluding book was published. Nor do I participate in the Other Consoles board for the simple fact that I don't have one. But people are welcome to be into Harry Potter and non-Nintendo gaming. It's all good as far as I'm concerned. Wanna know what I do care about? N-Europe. And due to the recent posts section on the forum homepage, I saw things kicking off here yesterday so wandered in for a read at what the full posts were. And what it looked like to me was maybe three people were admirably open to tentatively discussing Hogwarts Legacy while the rest of the page rapidly filled up with some sort of driveby Rick Roll of a post by an admin, and other members piling in with plenty to get off their chests and the open intention of getting this thread locked before it got off the ground. If we're in the business of locking game threads because of where a game comes from, then I'd like to volunteer my very own Metroid Dread thread because the situation the employees at MercurySteam had to put up with sounded unacceptable--all the more so for a studio someone like Nintendo was partnering with.* But no, that's not N-Europe. Topics can be discussed and explored here calmly from various angles, and games can be enjoyed and chatted about no matter where they originate if it's what our members are interested in. Likewise, I think here, in this thread, people should be free to anticipate the game (without judgement or being talked down to) or say their piece and move on with their day. If it can't be left at that and isn't constructive, a thread can be opened up in general chit chat where hell can be raised, the thread can be locked and everyone involved can give themselves a pat on the back. Warner says Rowling is not involved with Hogwarts Legacy (but really, what can they say?), and yes no doubt she is getting money for this because Potter is her thing. The dilemma is clear. No one needs to be browbeaten with it. But there are sites covering this game, it's currently down for a Christmas release and will likely sell gangbusters (perhaps bringing a well-earned bonus to the devs...) whether it's good or average because Harry Potter is still massive and so is Switch. Just based on those two things this is a moneymaking match made in heaven. People are gonna play the game and people are gonna want to talk about the game, and I think doing so here should not be met with such vitriol. -------------- Had to look up the game to verify a few things** so I don't look like an utter fool here, and it appears broomsticks are in but Quidditch is not. So boo to that. However, it is apparently an RPG so that could be interesting... * In no way saying Rowling and MercurySteam are the same but if people want to start locking threads let's do it. **Confirmation that I've checked myself before I've wrecked myself.

Some atmosphere at the City Ground. I thought Diogo was a shoulder offside but the VAR awarded the goal so what do I know. Glad the penalty wasn't given because while there was contact... not a pen. Could well be knocked out of the league title race and cup by them in short order. Not that I'm defeatist or anything but at what point can they meet in the Champions League??

Totally agree, @Aneres11. I also remember the day I got Mario Tennis 64--walked up to get it from Game the Saturday morning after release. Isn't it so nice to have tennis with powerups be in a separate mode! Only got the NSO Expansion Pack about three weeks ago myself and Mario Tennis is what I've been playing on it. Don't think I'd played it since the university days fifteen odd years ago (I say that because a friend borrowed it and never returned it after uni ended... ...so I've had an empty box for it all this time ) and it's been so easy to get back into. All characters starred so far! Give me a shout if you ever fancy a game online.

And then the GameCube brought it back with what... four? I think I'm still compensating for those years and playing catchup with that genre to this day. I haven't opened the Mega Drive NSO yet but that sounds sloppy if you can't expand the list to let you choose between NTSC and PAL (accessible in settings on the left menu bar in the N64 app). Disappointing to hear about that kind of lack of attention to detail rearing its head.

Doesn't mean these things can't be commented on. It was a bit of a gonk for me when I saw the roadside shrub on the Paris track while waiting for the race to begin. I had to recalibrate my expectations as the new tracks definitely have the look of mobile games being played on the big screen. Just an observation though as I was down for more tracks when they were revealed in the Direct, and I'm still down for them now they're here. Speaking of the Paris track, I did a time trial on it earlier to have a nosey around and it has a really nice amount of sights and landmarks around it. Didn't know you get booted from a time trial once the timer reaches ten mins but that's besides the point.

Confirmed for Switch but no details on how pared back it will be.

I gave it a rent, expecting to be able to share the good news of an N64 RPG on the playground come Monday morning. Needless to say, I kept schtum. I knew better after how poorly it went when I tried to shoehorn Snobo Kids into the conversation when they were talking about the snowboarding bit in FF VII. Good job Ocarina of Time was right around the corner.

Turn up the volume on this one.

Did the two min update this morning and went to select a new cup... but it wouldn't let me. Had to look it up online and you have to manually go on the eShop to validate that you have the Expansion Pack. Bit weird that the game can't automatically do that for you as it wasn't necessary with Animal Crossing. As expected, it's nice to have some additional tracks. They're all fun. What is unexpected is that the graphics are a lot more jarring to me than I thought they'd be from the trailer. Dude, I'd just played MK64 the other week and was so freaked out as soon as I went into that first corner. I wasn't prepared for the revamp. It reminded me of Goemon and I thought it was pretty cool with the implementation of different levels. But I've only played 50cc so far so perhaps it is utter chaos on higher speeds.

I think this thread should be moderated so the virtual signalling is kept out of it. Even discussions about separate games could be spun off into their own threads if they look to be gaining enough traction. I remember playing the quidditch game on GameCube which was about as average as you could expect but a bit of a laugh for a quick multiplayer sesh before rotaing back to Double Dash. There was a GBA or GBC effort that was meant to be a genuinely decent game though so they weren't all duds!

Honestly, before the date came out, my feeling was it'd be towards the end of September so a month before that doesn't seem too bad at all. @drahkon I'm looking forward to track 6: You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween. -
This thread is a very happy place as long as we don't pay any mind to you drowning your sorrows and whatever.
-
Best not play it just in case. Thanks for mentioning it though as I reckon I'll trade some gold coins for it. Won't be letting you know if it's a rip-off or not.

No way. Just embrace it and hit a festival to hear it before August 26th comes around. -
