  1. I'd actually expect it to be mostly WiiU footage, isn't it a WiiU game through and through simply being ported to switch? I'm certain the only reason it has been delayed again for Wii U past March is because of porting problems and wanting to release it on Switch first. If it wasn't for this transformers tablet then we'd no doubt be playing Zelda this Christmas if not a few months ago. I can't help but think Rabbids and Mario is a truly awful mix but then I'm another person who only knows them from their minigame early Wii days, if what I've read about Rabbids Land is true then perhaps I don't have to be so worried. It still doesn't do much for the Mario brand or even the Switch in trying to start afresh and away from that whole Wii era stuff. Nothing says 'casual Wii' more than Rabbids.
  2. Haha yes, that's exactly what I mean! It at least seemed to fit the style of Inception
  3. Any news on the Apple Watch app? It feels like I've been waiting ages for it now. I barely play it myself these days as it just feels like a pain, what with the battery drain and lack of interesting Pokémon but I'll be tempted to jump back in when the Watch version comes out or the Gold/Silver mon are added.
  4. I'm not sure what to make of that trailer, it seems like a generic teen movie using the Power Rangers brand as subtly as possible. The characters also seem annoying AF. I was hoping they'd just go all out crazy with this and embrace the weirdness of it, have Tokyo Mirage Sessions level fights, crazy bad guys and mega electric guitars. Instead the suits are dull and gross whilst the music uses a few notes from the theme to that annoying 'BUUUU BUUUU' you hear in every film since Inception.
  5. Anyone know of any good WiiU console deals? My brother wants to get one for Christmas (I've already told him the console is now dead and the switch is out next year but he's adamant he wants one) - I've been looking a lot of places but it's £250 at best which seems crazy this far into its life!
  6. I finally got around to playing the demo and really wasn't feeling it. It feels very restrictive compared to MineCraft and especially awkward to control when not in a first person view, it feels like the difference between Super Mario 64/Sunshine to 3D Land/World in terms of how it compares so if someone is just after a creative building experience then this is not it. But then I realise this is meant to be more than just an MC alternative. From what I played I can see where the appeal is, especially as from what I can gather this has a full story with people that you can help etc, but it's not for me.
  7. Sorry for the hideously late reply - Donkey Kong Returns was fun but a lot of things about it annoyed me, the 'blowing' mechanic especially, not to mention shake to roll. More than anything though, because it was the first Returns in a while and because it wanted to come across as new it stripped away a lot of the DK lore aside from the obvious lack of Kremlins - the music, atmosphere and lack of extended Kong family was all missing. Tropical Freeze on the other hand gets rid of the stupid blowing mechanic, maps everything to buttons and feels like more of an actual 'world' than a bunch of obstacle courses in a jungle setting. The return of David Wise to make the music is a huge deal and really brings back some of that classic Donkey Kong meloncholy whilst having Dixie and Cranky by your side as well as Diddy Kong really make it feel like home again. The best thing for me though was the return of water levels. Water-based levels were such a huge part of DKC and I couldn't believe they were missing from Returns but they're back in this title and better than ever, Donkey Kong is now so angelic and flows so beautifully underwater, not to mention it has some of the best music and aesthetics in the whole Wii U library.
  8. I'm curious as to what will happen with Pokemon too. Those images were very interesting though, I had no idea the models looked so nice in the 3DS games until Serebii pointed out the 1080p versions, it really goes to show how awful the 3DS screens are :p I think the core handheld games could still work fine on the tv with better textures. The main thing to improve would just be the overworld. It wouldn't need to be anything dramatic, just make it look a lot nicer - I loved Tokyo Mirage recently and the overworld in that is as rigid/enclosed as Pokemon but still felt fine on the big screen so it can definitely fit. In regards to Skyrim, I had similar 'this is the Wii U all over again' fears. I think the main thing to remember here is that it's Skyrim on the go that's the big draw.
  9. Yeah the Joy Con name is terrible but forgiveable considering they did everything else in this reveal so well. In fact, it's not just the name I hate about the Joy Con, it's the thing itself, as using them seperately in multiplayer looks more sinful than holding a Wiimote sideways for Smash Bros. I accept that it's more of an optional extra than a proper way to play multiplayer though so I can let it slide :p Hopefully they push the normal controller setup/Pro Controller in adverts though as someone on our Instragram already said they're not sure because of the horrible looking controllers so it doesn't bode well for first impressions.
  10. I think the 3DS can happily live alongside it for a year or so as it has the long lasting GBA appeal to it unlike the Wii U which has very clearly been pushed out the door (understandably). I think after a few more big hitters next year, the 3DS will slowly fizzle out naturally with a few more 'Nintendo Selects' or whatever to see it out nicely. As for a new Nintendo handheld? After seeing this reveal I'm thinking similar to Serebii, probably a cheaper model a bit later on without the home dock.
  11. My bad, when first watching I thought it was a fixed camera behind Mario like on these levels: After re-watching I've noticed it does move freely! A big sigh of relief. I always overreact to new Mario games, oops
  12. The camera angle, those tiles, ugh, this looks disgusting to me. But I'm over it, I accepted we'd be stuck with the lame style of 3D World a good while ago when Miyamoto said something along the lines of "Mario Galaxy is too hard for casual Mario fans". I'd still rather have this than NSMB I guess.
  13. Just tweeted by NOA too! Very surprising, I thought we wouldn't hear any more until after Christmas now!
  14. I've just completed the game and oh man, what a journey! I loved it from start to finish, it's my favourite experience on Wii U and possibly my favourite game in the last 5 years. I agree @FireMeowth - That ending had me on the verge of tears - not to mention the opera of light I love that with the final battle, meeting up with the team for the last time and credits that the ending ended up being like 3/4 hours long. I usually feel a bit deflated at the end of a game but they really made sure you got true closure with this.
  15. Melee - My favourite Nintendo game of all time and what turned me into a mega fanboy. I probably wouldn't be posting this message if it wasn't for Melee. I can't really put into words just how much I love this game so... I guess I won't :p Mario Kart DS - Such a fantastic game, it makes me woefully nostalgic just thinking about it. Local wireless at school, the return of block fort, THIRTY TWO levels, R.O.B., missions, my first online game, WiFi Karts, snaking, the list is endless. No Mario Kart before or after has come close, truly the Melee of Mario Kart games. Mario Party is a bit meh, I've played all of them apart from the original but simply because of the time of my life, Mario Party 8 gets it. Came out near the start of college, at the start of the Wii boom, so I had a lot of fun drunken nights on that at friends houses. Wii Party is where it's at though. If we're doing Mario sports titles then Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is the bomb!
  16. Haha wow, $350 is surely worth it to immortalise Banjo in a videogame
  17. The game itself is really fun in multiplayer and relatively fast paced for a Mario Party game. The classic mode is as good as always and has plenty of games on offer (classic mode meaning 4 Wii Remotes) but as these guys have said, whilst Bowser chase (or whatever it's called) is really fun it's just so limited. They really dropped the ball by not including more GamePad centric games. So if you're after a Mario Party Experience then by all means go for this as it's a great entry but if you're just after a multiplayer party game then I'd definitely suggest Wii Party U over this. It has minigames that are more fun and whilst the boards are more limited (there's only really 2 classic Mario Party type boards) the extra modes are far better. There's one that me and my friends play a lot which is a plinth about 5 stories high and when you pass a minigame you climb up a step with the first one to the top winning. Super simple but it cuts out the board game stuff and just lets you sink your teeth into the 70-something minigames. There's also a few fun Nintendo Land type Minigames. There's one where you put the GamePad on one side of the room with the TV on another. The GamePad is a bucket of water and the TV needs filling, you have to go to the gamepad, scoop water up with your Wii Mote, carefully go to the TV and fill it up. It's really stupid but a lot of fun, there's a few quirky little games like this. One great one involves the Wii U camera (I actually forgot it had one) and you get given a ridiculous description like "convey deep sorrow after dropping an apple" and you have to take the best shot you can as everyone has to guess what you were acting out from 3 answers. It's the kinda fun and quirky 'Wii era' party game stuff you find in early Wii U games that you wouldn't find in a Mario Party but I guess it depends what kind of party experience you're after.
  18. Yeah, Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a must if you're into RPG's. I haven't been able to stick with an RPG for years but I'm 65 hours in now and still enjoying the hell out of it, it's definitely my favourite game of the year and possibly my favourite Wii U game ever (but that's partly because it's just really up my alley as far as themes and characters go) As far as Kirby is concerned, I loved the game and the graphics are freakin' amazing but I was just so annoyed that I had to view it through the gamepad the whole time It looks so nice in HD! I wish they'd have released a premium Wii U gamepad that displays in HD. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is an absolute must. In a generation where I grew woefully tired of 2D platform games this was a breath of fresh air and reminded me why the genre is so great in the first place. Some absolutely amazing levels and as has already been stated, a wonderful musical score by David Wise. Not to mention that it's the first DK game in a very long time that actually feels like DK canon and not a 'new take' on the series like Jungle Beat or Returns.
  19. Power is incredibly important to get third parties on board. Personally I am more than happy with Wii U level graphics, especially for the types of games I play, but I know that it's something that holds them back and makes porting harder. It's my biggest fear with the NX being a hybrid, if it's a handheld at its core and a home console dock second, can we realistically expect it to output graphics that are much better than the Wii U currently is? If it isn't at least on par with PSBox4 then I fear we'll have another generation of barebones third party support or a bunch of really rubbish toned down ports like on Wii. The Wii U got so much wrong, but it only had as many flaws as the Wii. In fact, I think they fixed a lot of the problems you'd come across on Wii. The biggest problem is that unlike the Wii Remote which had everyone super hyped, there was nothing magical or groundbreaking either about the Wii U hardware or software that allowed people to overlook the flaws like they did with Wii.
  20. New Super Playstation 4 would have been my preferred name but we can't have everything.
  21. This looks cute but as a huge fan of MineCraft and regular player I don't know how I'll find it. I'm downloading the demo now though so we'll see.
  22. I've got my PS4 and it's all setup now! I also started downloading Miku a few hours ago, it said it would take about 5 hours for a 7gb download which with my crappy internet didnt surprise me but within in an hour it was downloaded and ready to go I tried out the audio through the controller and it sounds amazing, as clear as when I have them plugged into my laptop so it's a step up from GamePad audio. Not much else to say yet but I'll be sure to add you guys when I get used to the (pretty rubbish) OS :P
  23. I can't wait for the minecart reveal in a couple of years
  24. All the pages either broke or the deal disappeared but I managed to get a £150 ps4 500gb with Lego Star Wars from Tesco!
