He ain't your guy, friend. On a related note got a ton of applications out over the last couple of weeks, but only got one turn-down so far. I have got to get out my current job, I'm only just getting about enough hours to cover my outgoings and my manager keeps telling me to "be optimistic". He might be the friendliest person I've ever hated.

Quick catch up - XCOM: Enemy Unknown -One of the most atmospheric strategy games I have ever played, tough and full of depth with only a rather flat final level putting a fly in the ointment. Fire Emblem: Awakening - The best strategy game I've played in years (and after XCOM, that's saying something). Engaging characters, a decent story and a whole slew of well designed systems add to be a consistently sumptuous gaming experience. And last and foremost: To The Moon I've ended up writing this post at 2am because I finished this game at about 4pm and I'm still haunted by it. The gameplay is very light but what you get instead is a well-wrought story about autism & memory which affected me deeply and personally. I am an individual with a (twice) diagnosed autism spectrum condition and I have never found any fiction or discussion of it which resonated with me strongly until now. It's a beautiful, heartbreaking piece of interactive story telling - the fact it was made in RPG maker only makes it all the more amazing.

Bill Nye / Ken Ham - Evolution / Creationist "Debate"
gaggle64 replied to Mokong's topic in General Chit Chat
Until fairly recently I was in the "don't give them attention" crowd but creationist evangelists are mass manipulators by necessity so the rest of have no choice but to devote some of our free time challenging them as often as possible when we could be doing and/or celebrating actual scientific & educational progress. You carry on, Mr Nye. -
I have bought tickets to my first roller derby game (Portsmouth Roller Wenches vs. Croydon Roller Derby at Havant) and to a 65daysofstatic gig in Southampton. Excited!

Happy Birthday you glorious art queen you. -
It's definitely something I've considered in the past. One day, maybe, when I have time and money to burn (possibly literally). What was the total cost?

Wait until they have kids and then spend the following 8 years reminding them incessantly that you could go out drinking heavily every night and still finish the week with more sleep and money than them.

Capote, Magnolia, The Big Lebowski, The Talented Mr Ripely? You must have seen at least one of these.

Oh godammit. I was having a perfectly nice day too.

I wonder if players playing with Source & Surce 2 will be able to play with each other in a game like L4D2.

With everything that's going on this is definitly going to be one of F1's weird seasons. Can't wait to see how it shakes out, penis cars or no.

What's your steam name @jayseven? There's four people named "jayseven" but I'm guessing you have been online within the last 24hrs and without having logged 200 hours into DOTA.

I think the older ones with the PS2 hardware in them do, IIRC.

Definitely going to tuck into some of what GoGs got to offer (though I've got a backlog which includes Civ V, so it could be a while). I'm amazed the place isn't more celebrated. Much of what they have is DRM free and they have a money back guarantee if you can't get a game working on your machine.
-
I haven't purchased yet because I've got a backlog but everyone should absolutely try the Kerbal Space Program demo which has already given me hours of fun despite it's seriously limited nature.
-
That's cool, but how is your WENUS holding up?

For the sort of games you may want to play may I suggest a Good Old Games account as well? Also, if only play one multiplayer shooter in your entire life, make it Team Fortress 2. May I also suggest The Longest Journey or Kentucky Route Zero for something more sedate. Hotline Miami for that cocaine-fueled bender in the middle of your week.

Ack, bad luck. Hope that clears up soon. Anyway, I think I'm reaching a new low point with my job happiness. I can't find it within myself to go into the minutia right now, but needless to say: I don't think I'd enjoy working in a call centre but I'm wondering at what point I need to just flip the bird and leave for whatever.

It's a basic modern one and yes, always, without failure.

I'm wearing a kilt. Kilts are fun!

Saw 12 Years A Slave. Absolutely stupendous. Go see it and take as many people as you can with you. It's really incredibly intelligent and enthralling film, I don't think we'll get a film of this quality on the same subject matter for another generation.
