  1. Finally finished the game yesterday and fucking loved every second of it. Everything was just 11/10.
  2. Don't most space photos need to go through a bunch of different layers?
  3. There is only room for one shoes expert on this forum.
  4. Still stressed as fudge, I'm afraid, but you guys have fun.
  5. Blegh, have been deep, deep down the old, familiar hole of self-pity since before the weekend. Not entirely sure where it came from all of a sudden, but I suspect me being stressed out hasn't exactly helped.
  6. I've been in the exact same situation as you, @bluey; I used to use an adblocker and then later realised it was preventing the YouTubers I was following from gaining ad revenue. Since then I have disabled it again because, frankly, I'm not that bothered by ads. The only ads I'm bothered by are the long ones before YouTube videos (though as long as they're skippable after 5 seconds it's fine) and particularly the ones that start playing audio - those I actively use adblocker against, ad revenue be damned. If you do choose advertising as a form of income, don't use advertising that will actively interfere with your audience's enjoyment of your work.
  7. But that's the thing, the lack of faith in the Western market was the reason for the AAI2 fiasco, not the result; they simply couldn't sell enough games in the West to justify the localisation. In fact I believe they have taken the AAI2 fiasco into account and learnt from it; I believe that's why they made the decision to make DD a digital release, making localisation viable again. If you've followed the development team's blog, you'll see that they more or less localised the game as they were making it, which also accounts for the short wait between releases. To me it seems quite obvious they care about their fans and have gone to great lengths to satisfy their entire fanbase with this game - just look at all the ad campaigns and what have you up until the release - which is why I find it weird they still make content exclusive to their Japanese market; it seems to go against their overall marketing strategy with this game.

  8. No worries. I did indeed make such a post in Jonnas's latest mafia, which I immediately regretted, though deleting it would simply have made things worse. Back in the day it was more common, but it never really had any noticeable effect on the games, so nobody really questioned it. It's my impression that in the latest "generation" of mafia games, our approach to the games has become far more meta, meaning more focus on rules such as these. As such, I do think it best to start enforcing them more rigidly.
  9. Well, yes, it was always about the case requiring in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture. They never claimed it was a translation issue. I'm still a little bothered that we don't get it, and a bit confused to boot; why a case focused entirely on knowledge of Japanese culture now that they're more focused on their Western audience than ever?

  10. My deepest condolences, Mokong. Seeing your loved ones in pain is far more difficult than being in pain yourself.
  11. I literally laughed out loud at that.
  12. You should be on Hot Pepper Gaming.
  13. Hm, April O'Neil springs to mind, though I don't know how easy it would be to find a yellow jumpsuit.
  14. Indeed, and both Cumberbatch and Freeman have signed up for at least a 4th series.
  15. !!! Could/can you get Heroes II to work? I've had so many issues getting it to play on modern laptops.
  16. I have begun seeing BitStrips from a single individual on my friend list (an American, incidentally). No giraffes yet.
  17. Still too busy, I'm afraid. :/
  18. Holy heck, that's Two Scoops in it?! All the more reason to watch it!
  19. Ah, yes, I've been meaning to watch that since she won an Oscar for it.
  20. Well, he does mention getting plastic surgery ... If there is indeed something to this, it'll be interesting to watch unfold.
  21. My anecdotal contribution: My best friend at uni and I were shocked how much we were alike when we first met. Turns out she suffers from anxiety, and I, as you probably know, have autism/Asperger's/schizotypy (whatever they're calling it at this point); what's interesting is how similar many of our reaction patterns and experiences are despite different diagnoses. Also vaguely related, another friend of mine had been in the psychiatric system for a long time without much luck until she met me back in gymnasium; then it dawned on her that she might be autistic. The reason she hadn't got that diagnosis earlier? She's a girl (autism apparently occurs four times more often in boys). The reason appears to be that she - perhaps by virtue of being a girl - had a slightly better social sense and thus didn't register as an autist because she knew not to blabber on quite as endlessly about her interests.
  22. That sounds really great.
  23. I may have to donate again just to watch you play Mary-Kate and Ashley: Magic Mystery Mall.
