1. If I recall correctly, it was split into categories (Pirate Data, Chozo Lore, Creatures etc), each with a basic list of items. But the lists weren't alphabetical. At times it seemed almost chronological, but this wasn't always the case. I think some lists were ordered differently between different versions of the game too. MP1 Logbook FAQ
2. Scrambling over the castle rooftops in the Twilight realm as Wolfy Link was magical. In fact, the twilight realm in general was incredibly well done. The visual effects and the music were outstanding. They captured perfectly a realm that was both familiar and hauntingly alien at the same time. New items, like Darkspine said. It was great to have really unique different items for once. They were a blast to use. Boss Room Calm - the music that played in the room with the heart container after defeating a boss. It's so peaceful and relaxing, I could listen to it for hours.
3. LOL! I would really really like to believe this. Perhaps they also talk about the weather until he leaves.
4. There are no hardcore gamers. We are all different shades of casual. :awesome:
5. I keep thinking about bumping that thread. Watch this space. Well, that space. Over there. In the Retro board. Yes.
6. My favourite bit of this thread. That's exactly how I feel. Are you kidding? Better than Match Day?
7. There have been loads of people phoning the Eidos support line in the US, but only 7 calls in the UK so far. Are those videos from the Wii version? It's a shame about the glitches because it looks quite decent.
8. Sorry to hear about all of that - that was heartbreaking stuff. Personally, I would disregard every text message you've received from her phone, since it sounds like he was sending them most of the time. He sounds immature, vindictive and a total pussy. If she chooses him over you, then I think that says a lot about her. On the faintly bright side, it's better that this has happened now and not ten years down the line when you're married with kids. If she hasn't got the cahoonas to meet you face to face, then draw the line and move on.
9. Looks like you're right! Eidos are looking into it (link). I can't believe this got past testing! You can get Tomb Raider Legend for Gamecube and play it on your Wii I suppose. From what I've read, Legend advanced the series quite a bit from the previous games, so I think it's quite good.
10. Woah! The game in unfinishable? :o Actually, didn't one of the first Tomb Raider games (II or III) have a similar bug with not being able to finish it (PC version)? They patched it I think.
11. So Tomb Raider is now out and judging by the lack of comments, no-one is really that bothered about it. I saw a trailer for it on TV last night which made it look quite decent. It's been getting pretty bad scores though. 68% on Gamerankings, which is 10% lower than for the XBOX360 and PS3 interestingly. Is anyone here interested in getting it?
12. I remember we tried that with Monkey Ball and as much as that sounds like a good idea, it's actually almost impossible to complete even the first few stages. We also played an N64 game where you had to play with your feet. Can't remember much of that one. I think we'd had a lot to drink (hence no-one being bothered by smelly feet on their controllers).
13. Following on from the achievements thing, one of my only annoyances with Twilight Princess was opening treasure chests that contained . . . du-du-du-duuuuuh . . . 20 rupees! And the real kicker was when it stopped you from taking the rupees if they didn't fit in your wallet. The chest stayed on the map, mocking you as you destroyed nearby objects with your sword in frustration.
14. Q1 2009 Spring 2009 Early 2009 2009 21st century One of the above. Maybe.
15. Isn't that just being respectful? In both cases? The interviewer held up very well I thought.
16. Never heard of brand loyalty? Or for that matter, football? Decrying third party support for Nintendo platforms has been all the rage for the past ten years. The solution is for these third parties to actually make decent games (something Sega have been doing recently) and for people to actually buy them. Well done Maase!
17. Weird, if annoying. Can you let me know how you get on with the wired link when you get it?
18. Man, I am so tempted to click that 'Show' button. Must . . . Resist . . .
19. Just a few (mostly rubbish) ideas: Have you tried removing the internet settings from your Wii and re-entering them? Is the Wii hidden away inside something? Have you tried connecting with the DS while it's right next to the Wii, to see if it's a location issue? I've had problems with Bomberman too and I keep meaning to try the above.
20. Sidescrolling beatemups are one of my favourite types of game. Such a shame they don't make them any more. I've played a few, but my faves are the SoR series. I played Streets of Rage at a friend's house and got totally hooked. You know how when you were young and impressionable and there were some games you couldn't stop thinking about, counting the days to Christmas so you could get it for yourself. That was one of them. Streets of Rage II was a vast improvement, adding chunkier sprites, colourful scenery, the best soundtrack heard on a Megadrive, imaginitive moves and decent level variety. Of all my VC games, this is my most played and I can never get bored with it. Even after finishing it, I'm tempted to start again from the beginning. Streets of Rage III was a mildly irritating inferior clone of the second game. The music was the weakest of the series, while the last time-limited maze level is needlessly difficult and very unsatisfying. There were some nice additions though. You could run around at last and there were some decent enemies (the kangaroo/trainer combo and the FBI-type agents).
21. I think this is all going to end with people giving their heated definitions of 'core' and 'casual' for the bajillionth time. It's difficult to make a game that caters equally well to core and casual gamers. It's got to be instantly accessible (something a core gamer might find too simple) but have a lot of depth and longevity (something a casual gamer might find frustrating).
22. Patch

Wii Fit

Selling right before Christmas will guarantee you get a good price for it. But then, how are you going to shed those Christmas pounds afterwards? A friend of a friend was that desparate for the game, she gave me £90 for my used copy. I then bought a new copy for £70 in WHSmiths. £20 profit on a used game isn't bad.
23. Great thread and much needed. Virtual Console I would have bought the Wii for this alone. Being numerically large in age, I've had an absolute blast playing games that I last played looking *up* at a TV screen. In fact, I'd have bought the Wii for Streets of Rage alone. Controller I welcome new gaming experiences with open arms. I love the fact that on the Wii, I am playing groundbreaking games nearly every day. Reliability True of every Nintendo console I have bought. I have never had to return one. Sex Appeal You should see the women fall over me when I tell them I have a Wii. The name 'Wii' Contrary to the whole of the internet, I loved the name when it was announced. I still love it. It's simple, original and the butt of a million bad jokes. It always amazes me how the name of a product can make such a difference. OK, I might have been telling a white lie about one of those reasons. See if you can guess which!
24. Good idea. Before we play again, I'll recreate my Wii connection details. Then it's over to the Nintendo support line...
25. Thanks, Pete. I haven't changed anything on my Wireless Router or Internet setup in months, so in my opinion its either a temporary glitch at Nintendo's end or perhaps a change in Pete's setup. I wish I had more friends to try it with... Here's what one forum has to say: Error Code: 80430 Our experience shows that error messages within this range are typically caused by temporary network issues with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
