Spaceballs. The number of times my younger self watched that film & loved it to bits, but when i tried watching it again earlier this year it was really, really, weak. On the brighter side, I didn't find Blackadder funny 10-15 years ago, but got the boxset for xmas last year and really enjoyed it.

Super Monkeyball Adventure (yes, I loved it - shut up!) 8. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! 9. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem 10. F-Zero GX Tho to be honest there were way too many to choose from. Even when I was down to 15, every one I cut from the list felt like pulling the limbs off a puppy

I'm still playing it (been going through pretty slowly in between loads of other stuff) and loving it. The part that blows my mind are the times when i go back to a previous area and characters talk about events/characters you've met later on. Expected them to still be in the exact same state you left them in after doing their quest etc, but they've asked about other characters, mentioned that they heard you did things in another area, etc. Makes the game feel so much more believable, like the world's carrying on around you without constant interaction.

Actually, the new Spyro has now been confirmed to leapfrog "unnecessary" and land in "oh my crap" land. Seriously, would you take your child to this event and NOT expect them to have nightmares for the next few weeks?

What about sequels that exist for apparently no reason except milking the cash cow? Look at Crash Bandicoot games after 3, for instance - would you say any of those were/weren't necessary additions to the franchise?

I'm starting to think that with all the Star Wars spoofs out there, Lucas has now decided to make his own official spoof.

I don't think of sequels ruining the originals in movies or games, but you often hear discussions of films where people say "the original was the best, let's pretend the sequel/s never happened" (eg. Robocop).

We've all more than likely had experiences where we realise that a game should've been left alone, because the sequels ruined it. Which ones stand out in your mind? Have you been disappointed by Deus Ex sequels/prequels? Crazy Taxi 2 and 3? Banjo Kazooie 2 and/or N&B? Bioshock 2? This gets discussed all the time with movies, but not a lot in gaming it seems...
