Have any of you still tried placing an order for it? The worst they can say is that they can't get anymore stock in; when I looked earlier it was saying 10 copies available within 2-3 days, so they didn't have any actual stock there and then, anyway.

Component cable is the US equivalent of RGB output, literally meaning that it transmits the red, green and blue components of the signal separately.

£0.98, if anyone is wondering and doesn't want to click on the link.

There's problems with some of these ideas: 1. The gyroscope in the Revolution controller will not be a "mechanical" one, it's more electronics based, so it's not one that could be used to induce physical feedback. 2. The controller is almost certainly not physically big enough to create inertial feedback, just a vibration one.

Revolution Hint??? Very Interesting must see!!

Already covered yesterday, check existing threads (especially ones with very obvious titles) before creating new ones, it's part of the rules you agreed to. -
Help Convincing nintendo about Dolby digital 5.1
YenRug replied to marcel's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Probably cause theres not much to talk about I think he means the actual speed of the forums, which I have noticed too; despite being on broadband, it can sometimes take several minutes for a page to finish downloading. -
Gamecube or wait for Revolution?
YenRug replied to Meneer Guggenheimer's topic in General Gaming Discussion
My advice, if you're only looking to buy Zelda TP, wait and see what the different release dates are. If Zelda is out a significant time before the Revolution is, then go looking for a cheap second-hand Gamecube, even if it's only good for a short while it should hopefully last until you can get a Revolution. -
Boy, I can really see you being popular around here...

OK, for starters that floor is created by a projector from a ceiling, there are then motion detectors that can tell where there are "obstructions" and create suitable responses in the projection. That makes a possible touch sensitive LCD floorplate a little bit of a reach, which is what some people are most likely thinking of, it would seem. It does make an interesting concept, though, if that was what Nintendo were aiming for.
-
Oh good grief, stop with the 4D crap already! Current games are 3D models viewed on a 2D screen, if you get into holography/projection systems of some kind it's still only 3D graphics, just experienced in 3D. Just because it's no longer viewed on a TV screen doesn't suddenly add another dimension on top.

The thing to remember, scales of production make a huge difference to the unit cost of an item. How many people can you see buying a Gyration mouse for their PC? Their production runs are probably running in the low thousands, whereas the Revolution controller is going to be running into the hundreds of thousands, if not millions eventually. That will bring the price way down from what Gyration charges for their mice.

Hopefully I'll be able to download the Shadowrun RPG, I hired a SNES for three days over Xmas one year and played that pretty much non-stop.

Actually, it's Russian: According to the communication of Danish site Inside Gamer, prefix Nintendo Revolution is completely completed and ready to series production. The journalists of resource refer to the Japanese publication Dengeki, which is counted sufficiently to reliable. It is possible to assume that the previously appeared rumors about the possibility of appearance Nintendo Revolution during March-April are completely real. (Translation through Babelfish) EDIT: Thought I'd dig out the site in question: http://www.insidegamer.nl/content.php?id=8971 (Translation through Babelfish)

Actually, Jim Merrick was commenting on the fact that they achieved a worldwide launch of the DS in a space of 14 weeks, they hope to release the Revolution in a smaller timeframe than that. OK, that can be read as "worldwide release of the Revoltion within 14 weeks", but it does indicate an intent to make it as quick a process as possible.

Well, I believe you're too late already. Sony have apparently been experimenting with an ultrasound system which causes sympathetic responses in the brain and nervous system, inducing sensations including motion and smells. I believe Philips (I can't be sure, but it's the company name which comes to mind) have also been working on a chemical based system, which recreates smells from a small device which could be added or built into controllers.
-
Security is quite simple; each Revolution will have a unique ID, considering it will be an online device, this will probably be its MAC address in the network hardware. You'll probably have an online account which keeps track of your purchases, so you can download the games again if you have to buy a new Revolution, for whatever reason. When you download the game to your Revolution, it is encoded to only work on the machine that has that particular MAC address, so you can take the file and put it wherever you want but it will only work on that particular piece of hardware. Yes, this will probably be cracked eventually, though you'd most likely need to have a chip fitted, but it will be enough to deter it happening en masse.
-
That's actually quite feasible, they could also use the WiFi connection to a PC, however, at present they've only confirmed the use of SD cards.

I think some people are confusing "adding a new dimension", as a figure of speech, with actual real world dimensions. Adding such things as smell, lighting and "weather" (are we to assume you're planning on fitting sprinklers in people's houses???) just add to the immersion of a setting, by engaging the other senses and pulling you in more. They most certainly are not another dimension in physical terms, though they may be in emotional terms.
-
Take it you've completely missed the 512MB of flash memory, that the Revolution has been revealed as containing? Also the SD card slot, so that you can back up your downloads and/or increase the storage capacity of the system? Oh, and the system will be WiFi online enabled, out of the box, so you'll be downloading them off the net.

Multiple Controllers Reacting To Each Other...?
YenRug replied to Migraine's topic in Nintendo Gaming
And where exactly did I say it wasn't? Oh, that's right, I didn't! Please try and not be picky about the lack of using 100% precise terms, on my part, to justify some apparent misunderstanding, on your part. -

Bluetooth is not any form of light, it is classed as a radiowave technology, i.e. it falls in the radio part of that spectrum diagram. That diagram is of the Electromagnetic spectrum, not the visible/invisible light spectrum, simply because the word spectrum is used does not mean that they are the same. -
Sprout, sorry to be a pain, but in the next to last panel of Mag 15, shouldn't it read: "But if he be likely to die"

They were posted on Friday when the forum servers had gone kaput, seems like the threads were created but the actual posts didn't get added. Don't worry, it's not you, it's the forum.

Touch me baby! Or touch the Revolution controller!
YenRug replied to Gaijin von Snikbah's topic in Nintendo Gaming
There's a bit of confusion about that, one of the people that got to go hands-on, before Iwata's TGS speech, was talking about the buttons and then mentioned that "it" was made out of a soft plastic/rubber so it was easy to grip. It's unclear whether he was talking about the buttons being made out of this softer material, or the controller body. -

It's down to Miyamoto's statement at DIEC, on the 2nd December, I'm not going to go digging it out but it is on this forum already. It's actually slightly unclear whether Miyamoto was referring to the secret being about the controller, or not, it depends on how you read the quote. Miyamoto was referring to the Revolution's controller, but then added that there was still a secret to be revealed about "it", some people have read it as being specifically about the controller (Matt Cassamassina included) whilst others have assumed it was referring to Revolution in general (includes myself).
