Nintendo Power: Keep your eye on Reggie, February 9th
YenRug replied to Stocka's topic in Nintendo Gaming
My reckoning? This would probably be a good time to reveal the system's final name, give it a chance to become established in people's minds before E3. E3 will be where we finally get to see everything about the system, including this other mystery capability, and that will be easier if people have got the new name in their heads already. -
Bad example, mate. Whilst Metroid Prime does have some plaforming elements, it is not the focus of the game and when they do occur they are more to make exploration interesting. Mario games, meanwhile, are platformers through and through, with precision jumping being called for on a regular basis, to which a first person view does not lend itself. It's the inability to see where your feet and where they are in relation to the surroundings.
-
Yes, that first person view really helps with jumping, in a platformer... [/sarcasm]

Also, the projected image doesn't site right in the whole image, it somehow seems lighter than the screen it's projected onto. In my opinion, just a lecture/conference photo that someone has added a pretty poor mock-up onto, then applied a filter to it.

After reading the Nubytech interview, earlier, I think that third party controllers are unlikely to be copies of the main "remote" one. What you could potentially see are either add-ons, i.e. such as the pistol grips with the remote plugged into it, or full blown unique replacements, i.e. going with the gun idea but being a full blown gun which includes all the controller elements built into it. The latter has the advantage that you would have more space to build in force feeback components, i.e. a handgun would have the full length of the body to move a weight through to simulate gun kick.

I take it you completely missed the interview with the Producer of RE saying that there are no plans to port RE5 at present, then? He did say there might well be a RE game on the Revolution and that it would likely be unique to it, thanks to the controller, but it will most likely not see RE5 at all.
-
That was kind of the point, if you re-read the question and his answer; he was saying they intend to sell more Revolutions in their launch period, than the Xbox360, and will do their best not to run out. He then pointed out how bad things were by comparing Xbox360 sales to the, pretty much dead in the water, Gamecube to show how badly MS had messed up their launch.

Stuff magazine is essentially all about gadget *BLING*, not about what's actually best.

Looks fairly symetrical to to me, in this pic, even though it's twisted to the side: http://media.revolution.ign.com/articles/670/670520/img_3233280.html Personally, I can't see the controller and nunchuk being "hand" specific, at all.
-
Yes it would, it's a legally binding document that you will not reveal company secrets to a competitor, even if you leave your current employer and go work elsewhere. You're probably thinking more along the lines of NDA's that games companies get beta testers to sign, whilst still legally binding, they're not quite as harsh as the punisments meted out for a corporate NDA.

The Mario 64 video was generated on a PC emulator, though, to "enhance the skills of the player". In other words, they cheated.

mabye the nintendoON idea wasn't that far out altogether?

Ermmmm, how about the first post in this very thread? -
Why are people shortening Revolution to Revo, rather than Rev (which is the traditional abbreviation of revolution, as in revs per minute (RPM))? Is it simply down to those fake ads that went around, or do people really think it sounds better?
-
*Psssst, the word people are looking for is "immodest", not "unmodest"!*
-
It's how you enabled Progressive scan in NTSC games, it was only the 60Hz mode in PAL games.

I've watched up to ep 11 of this show, with the US broadcasts, it is incredibly slow and just doesn't want to reveal anything. If you thought Lost was bad for that, this is so much worse for it. Right now, the only reason I'm still watching is to find out exactly what it is that's invaded, alien or otherwise. Yes, even after 11 episodes...
-
Does "soon-to-be-released" sound like a phrase you'd use about a console predicted due out in November?
-
*BLEURGH!* imho
-
Omg, they've already copied the controller!
YenRug replied to nicolasmasset's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The difference: The one in that article is a motion sensing only. The Revolution is motion and positioning sensing. -
If I were you, be prepared to give up gaming altogether, then. Do you honestly think that any future Nintendo developed Revolution game is not going to be exploiting the controller in some way? They cannot afford to create a game which only uses the shell or a Gamecube controller, because at that point other developers will turn around and say, "If it's good enough for Nintendo, then it's good enough for us!" Nintendo's aim will be getting every developer to use the controller in some way, so it becomes difficult for a game to be ported to any of the other systems, or the unique control is a hook for buying the Revolution version. If you only want to use the GC controller, keep on playing on your GC, plain and simple.
-
Iwata has asked if Miyamoto could have a Mario game ready for launch, pressuring is not the word to use; Miyamoto has said he will try, but the game will be ready when it's ready.
-
I doubt TP has been delayed just to add Revolution control options, they've said they wanted to give the game the time it deserved in development, i.e. Wind Waker lost two major dungeons so they could get it out the door. If Revolution control options are being added, it will be done alongside whatever else they working on, not the sole goal of their current efforts.
-
OK, so two reasons why that could be invalidated: 1. The press release was written last year, the "next year" statement not picked up in proof-reading before CES. 2. It could very well refer to next financial year, which traditionally runs from 1st April to 31st March.
-
Knightendo, have you considered writing to the editor of that particular column? Point out to them that their story is factually inaccurate, then supply the current sales figures of ~13million DS's vs ~7million PSP's, see what kind of response it draws from them. If they don't reconsider and print a correction, then you can slag them off for being in Sony's pockets, at the moment it could just be a case they're still working on the percieved success of the systems.
-
So where did Nintendo deny it? They simply said that NGC are speculating that the Revolution will have extra control options when playing Zelda. Oh, Masaki, if you don't like the "paddle" then you won't be buying a Revolution, so your point is moot, it wouldn't be of any concern to you.
