The Revolution is meant to have 512MB of internal flash memory, but will also be able take SD cards to expand or backup this storage.

2-3 times more powerful than Gamecube, now basically confirmed
YenRug replied to James McGeachie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Here's some points for the nay-sayers to consider, not trying to persaude you that this news is a good thing, just trying to show you something you are mis-interpreting. 1. The Revolution is going to have better graphics than the Gamecube; that does not mean that it will have bad graphics, it means that it will have graphics not as good as the Xbox 360 or PS3. The way most of you are talking is that people are going to be watching something comparable to the Atari 2600. 2. Where do you see the benefit of having Xbox 360 vs Revolution vs PS3 in direct competition to each other? I see exactly the same market share for Nintendo as this generation, if not worse, with no practical gain simply because of Nintendo's image in the current market. Nintendo are simply aiming to be the alternative to either the Xbox 360 or the PS3, or to pick up a different market. Put it this way, unless someone is absolutely desparate to play exclusive titles on both of the other two consoles, how many people do you think will have an Xbox 360 and a PS3 in their home? Is it not more likely that people would buy one of them and then buy the cheap, quirky console for the games that simply couldn't even be possible on their main system? -
Yeah, usually when you license tech like this out, there's usually a return clause that says you can get something in return, this might be something as simple as a share of the license fees on the new tech up to as far as having the exclusive manfacturing rights on the finished product. The way I see it, something in vein of the latter possibility is most likely; for starters the new chip tech is based of existing IBM technology, so IBM are going to be loathe to allow another chip maker to start building competing chips using their tech, and secondly these guys are likely just a design group so they would not have manfacturing facilities.
-
You'll probably find that the license deal with IBM means that IBM have a preferential situation with regard to using the tech in the future.

More likely he's actually been preparing the new site, hence the lack of editorials to make up for the absence of news. I do like the neon blue glow they've got on the title/links for for each article, matches with the blue glow of the drive slot.

Just thinking, might be because Jim was so happy to talk he's on the move. IGN was commenting how he seemed to be the only high-up in Nintendo willing to speak relatively openly, rather than rephrasing press releases.

Nice attempt to demonstrate how it will work, but from a technical standpoint you've made one mistake; you depict the controller as pivoting about the front end, when in reality most of the controller movement is going to come from the wrist, so it should be the back end that the model pivots around.
-
But the DS has a limited memory and limited bandwidth compared with what the Revolution is likely to have, there will be less limitations on that.

Eh??? Since when have purple and black been bright colours? A lot of people wanted the brighter colours released only in Japan. Personally I'm split between the red and then black console colours, I feel the whole "white is cool" thing, but I just simply don't like it at the same time.
-
Because he's a developer and doubts the likelihood of this news being true, at least with regard to the possibility of it leaking like this.

If you've got a current IGN cookie set, you should just be able to click on the link. A new window should open then you just have to wait for the Quicktime video to download, once that's done it should appear in the window by itself.
-
I never played the game, I was going on an interview with one of the developers when the game came out, in that they specifically stated it was flashbacks that were occurring.

Err, it's from the IGN Cube Mailbag, not IGN Insider. You might have to register at worst, there's no need for money to change hands.

Spong have even written a piece about the size of the Xbox 360, they've pointed out that in reality it's actually bigger than the old Xbox, as the power block is now external to the main body. They've got a couple of interesting shots on there, too: http://news.spong.com/x?art=9335

Well, seems that way according to the little tribute video that they put together about him! http://cubemovies.ign.com/cube/video/article/666/666644/merricktribute_qthigh.mov Matt Cassamassina seems to have found someone in the Nintendo hierarchy he respects for actually giving out some info that doesn't come in the form of previous press releases. Surprised no-ones posted the link before now!

Aren't you being selfish in demanding that everyone else pays more for their console and games, just so you can play on your HDTV? It's called a choice, Nintendo is offering you one without HDTV support, MS and Sony are offering you one with HDTV support. If HDTV is essential to you, then Nintendo is not your choice, plain and simple.

Except this concept has already been done in the game "Second Sight", where a Govt agent wakes up in a research lab to find he has psychic powers and no memory of how he got there. You then have flashbacks in which you actively take part in reliving those memories, depending on how well you do affects what powers you have and who survives in the present.

If you say it out loud, it also sounds like "in motion", so a nice little play on words too.

N-motion Darn 15 character requirement!

SeriousGamer007 has supposedly played the revolution
YenRug replied to nicolasmasset's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It seems most people are not aware that the vast majority of web ads only generate revenue for the website if the link is clicked, nowadays. The old "impressions" payment, where people were paid for every time the ad was loaded on someone's browser, are long gone because the business model was not valid. That means it's OK for people to visit SeriousGamers site as long as they don't click on the links, I think it even said that in his entry, that he wanted people to click on them. -
An example of modern holograph technology - Way cool!

The projector will be using a parabolic mirror still, it's the only thing that can focus the image to appear in the air this way. -

I've seen this kind of tech years ago, in London, was being used in an arcade game. Basically there's a parabolic mirror and the image is projected into the bottom of it, the mirror then refocuses it so that the image appears to be floating in the air. The trick with this Cheoptics 360 system is that they've got 4 mirrors set up and the renderer projects the 4 viewing directions of the rendered object into the relevant mirror, thus allowing you to view the item from all 4 sides; note how there's a "screen" placed at each corner, this stops you from seeing the projected image from more than 1 mirror at a time. -

I'm not sure if he's hoping his "fans" seriously believe all of that, or if he's making an ironic comment about Miyamoto's imagination and Nintendo's rabid secrecy. -
Whereas most people ignore the stuff they do get right and only remember what they got wrong, sound about right, anyone?

Why does the possibility, of one being started before the other was finished, directly imply that the same situation occurred before? Your conclusion is spurious, there is no direct correlation between the two events. One situation does not mean that the opposite situation cannot exist, in this case.
