  1. Quarterfinals starting today Predicting the results will be difficult...still can't decide what I will choose for the game tonight. Poland 1 - 2 Portugal Poland 2 - 1 Portugal Poland 6 - 5 Portugal on penalties) One of these...
  2. @Hero\-of\-Time, you sure play a lot June has been a good month for gaming. Haven't played much because I've spent a lot of time with friends and my girlfriend and I have only completed The Talos Principle and several playthroughs of Plague Inc. Evolved but I enjoyed the games I've played a lot Currently I'm only playing Overwatch and Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Multiplayer (264 hours so far...I think I've got my money's worth ) and I might start Rainbow Moon. Edit: Forgot to mention Dangerous Golf which the lady and I play whenever she's over Exams are coming up and I will try to keep socialising as much as I did in June so gaming time might be reduced. Well, my GOTM for June is an easy choice: The Talos Principle. Quite possibly the best puzzle game I've ever played. Need to give the expansion a go soon And here's my completed games distribution: 30 games completed 1 Wii U 6 PSVita 27 PS4 Haven't touched my 3DS in over 1 1/2 years...think it's time to prepare my Wii U and 3DS for ebay.
  3. I also made a thread earlier this year.
  4. Yeah, really looking forward to it Was hoping that the second Vita game besides Oreshika wasn't a PSP game, though. Well, I think I'll buy Rainbow Moon today. 5€ for the Vita version is not bad
  5. Holy shit. Awesome lineup. Already have Oreshika but got it for 5€ in a sale Furi!!!! Was hoping to see this as a PS+ game.
  6. Hmm...Rainbow Moon Vita for 5€...tempted. And even though I don't have money to spare I might go for it.
  7. I'd love to see Link killing Zelda and proclaiming that men are better than women. System seller! In all seriousness, though. As @Happenstance said, a spin-off with Zelda as the main character would be awesome.
  8. Watched the first episode of Boku dake ga Inai Machi (English title: ERASED). Holy cow, what an incredible start. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. On the manga front I have been reading Pluto in the past few weeks and I am 10 chapters away from the end. It's a great manga. Awesome story, great characters and the suspense won't let up.
  9. And more news indicating that Neo won't be the end of the console generation: Source This should end the complaining once and for all.
  10. During a nighttime youtube journey I came across this: Can't breathe Man, Pingu was my childhood...NOOT NOOT.
  11. This is what I love about the Elder Scrolls games. While certain limitations have put the "dungeons" in a separate instance from the overworld I loved seeing an entrance to a cave knowing there'd be lots of treasures, enemies and secrets to be discovered. Something like this + the typical mechanics from Zelda dungeons would be awesome.
  12. I thought I remembered a couple of quotes from the Zelda thread say there will be only 4...maybe I got that wrong. Sorry if that's the case. This is an idea that came to me yesterday. If dungeons will be huge to keep it close to the immense world, multi-layered and maybe even connected dungeons would be awesome.
  13. I can see your point. But I don't care what you want. :p In the end it all comes down to personal preference, of course. However, I would argue that having maybe 8 huge dungeons will benefit the game more than having 100 shrines and only 4 dungeons. It would make the game stay closer to the Zelda-formula.
  14. That's not realy it. I just wanted to have a friendly discussion and a lot of people here made this possible. But we all know two posts were intentionally put here to ruin that atmosphere. I really had hoped this wouldn't happen. In the future I will probably resort to PMs with certain people who challenge my views in a productive and friendly way so I can discuss things and even be criticised/corrected without being annoyed. Edit: And I'm sorry for talking about these things yet again, but it's really not great for the forum if some people have to think about how to phrase opinions or - which is even worse - just decide not to say anything at all.
  15. I tried to avoid Ronnie's responses so I decided to put my thoughts here. Sorry if that caused you to be exposed to spoilers. Since Ronnie entered the discussion the previous posts could very well be moved to the Zelda thread. I will most likely be out of the discussion then, because I fear that my opinions will become read by others who won't enter this thread and I don't want to deal with everything I say being taken apart or passive agressive provocations just to ridicule me for my past mistakes.
  16. Agree. Shrines probably won't have that much "personality". I mean...it's basically what you've seen in other games: Find a point of interest (in that case a shrine), complete it, done. It's not a bad thing, but I'd really like to see more than four dungeons and in turn less than 100 shrines. That doesn't alleviate my biggest worry. Especially since you probably won't be able to carry a lot. I still think that cooking and equipment durability won't do the game any good. But I am happy to be proven wrong. Perfectly put. And what little we know is that this Zelda borrows heavily from the other games, which - let me make this clear - is not a bad thing.
  17. I see. Having more heart containers will most likey put the focus on cooking, then.
  18. Just remembered something: Weapon/armor stats and durability. I'm not sure whether these will benefit Breath of the Wild. Let me use the word "disconnection" again. For a game that looks to be a lot about exploration I think inventory management will disrup the experience. Example: I'm exploring the wilds. Enemies attack, my equipment breaks during the fight. So before I get back to exploring I would have to open the (quick)menu , choose new equipment, equip it (duh) and only then can I go back to searching the area. I could not choose to equip new stuff, but then I might have a disadvantage in the next fight. Then there is cooking, which apparently is the only way to replenish health (correct me if I'm wrong). Collecting hearts midfight has always been great. Your health runs low, you switch up your tactics, try to single out enemies to make them drop hearts. What do you do now? Can you eat during a fight? If so, do you have to always cook something between fights - which again makes you stop exploring. I don't know much about the mechanics so I could be wrong with my assumptions. Each of those activites might only cost me 30 seconds, but I'm pretty sure if added together they will take up a considerable amount of time...and that just doesn't fit with Zelda.
  19. This is why I would love to see more than four and much bigger/expansive dungeons than we've seen in earlier games. There's so much potential, it seems to be wasted with the small number of dungeons. Of course, we don't know whether the four will be great. The thing is: If they are great I'd want more.
  20. Would love if there was a major plot twist like this. Highly doubt Nintendo will aim for that...happy to be proven wrong, though
  21. I'm sorry you guys, but Iceland deserverd it and I was cheering for them during the whole match. Not because I dislike England but Iceland played such a wonderful tournament and they stepped it up even more today.
  22. I think, with the technology currently available, even going back to Zelda 1 it is reinventing the series. There's a lot of stuff you couldn't do back in the day, which you now can. And with the previous 3D Zeldas being almost the same in every way I stand by saying that this is a reinvention. But I do see your point. I don't want to agree, though, because to me that would mean taking a step back instead of moving forward. I hope so, but there's only so high they will go with the difficulty and as some people on here know I'm not one for easy games I need challenge Yeah, as I've said: Giving players a choice is great. And because I didn't know that the temperature played a role in that scene (I didn't pay close attention because of spoilers) - thanks to you and @kav82 for pointing out the cold climate - I found the approach (cutting down trees) weird. Now I still think it's...odd? I feel restricted in my actions when certain aspects (in this case temperature) prevent me from going the easy way (no, it doesn't pose a challenge...it's simply a restriction). But that's just me. Probably should've elaborated. What I meant was that there was a lot of empty space, in the sense that the foliage was very sparse. I'd like to see dense forests with deers running around, rocky mountains (heh), a maze of rivers, wildlife, etc. What I've seen so far were just plain fields with not much going on. I know that they've kept the story secret, but Hyrule falling into ruin isn't that much different to what we've seen before...some evil force (whoever that might be....) wrecked shit...Link comes to save the day. And that he has awoken isn't something special - unless it turns into some Assassins Creed subplot Yup, but I'd still prefer a deeper combat system. Yeah, I don't doubt there will be dungeons. But I fear that they won't be as extensive as the "outside world" looks to be, which will cause a disconnection. Again, this is just personal preference. See the first paragraph of this post. This is basically the crux of my posts...I don't want to destroy anybody's hype. Heck, I'm glad that Nintendo gets so much positive reactions. But I do think this Zelda won't be revolutionary or new or inventive.
  23. Now that I've put some thought into how I feel about Breath of the Wild I'm ready to give my opinion. First of all: It will be a good, quite possibly even a great game. I will most likely enjoy it, but won't buy it anytime in the next 1 or 2 years (after the Wii U fiasco I will hold off on getting the NX at launch, no matter how good it seems to be). Secondly: My post won't have a "real" structure. It will be a collection of my thoughts about Breath of the Wild without any coherence. If I contradict myself, I apologize. To preface my opinion: I haven't seen a lot. I have seen the trailer and the first segment of the treehouse stream and a video about a couple of shrines. I won't watch anymore because spoilers. That is why my opinion is based on a fraction of the apparent fraction that was shown to the public. Now to the main event... As much as I can see how this new Zelda reinvents the Zelda formula, I just can't get behind how many view this as some kind of Second Coming. What I've seen is a game that takes lots and lots of things from other games, slaps it into one and thinks it's enough. In my opinion, it's not. All the little aspects like cooking, equipment stats, climbing, cutting down trees, etc might cause a "disconnection" (is that a real word?) between dungeons (what I think make Zelda games) and everything else. Of course, I don't know if what I suspect will turn out to be true because I don't know anything about dungeons. What I would love to see: HUGE dungeons with varying environments in each so that exploring them will be interesting. If the outside world is as large as it seems then having the usual-sized dungeons will cause the "disconnection" I mentioned. Then there are the 100 shrines. I don't like the idea because from what I've seen the puzzles seem to be generic, easy and boring. Combat rooms won't really help me sway towards positivity because I think the combat looks as boring and easy as it does in all the 3D Zelda games. Now on to something that I think is just weird (and that is a little nitpicky for some): I've seen someone "build" a bridge out of trees to get to a raft. Can you not swim? If you can't, why not? If you can, why would anybody make a bridge to reach that raft? Mind you, I do like playing around with things I have at my disposal in video games, but if it should serve a "real" purpose I will always choose the easy way, which in this case would be: Swim to the raft. Here's what worries me most about the game: Story. I think Zelda is due for an epic tale of heroism, kingdoms at war, love, hate, uprising, rebellion, etc. We've heard that you could play the game without unfolding the story and I'm fine with that. It gives us a choice. What we haven't heard (and that is what worries me): What is the story about? Will it change up the usual Zelda-formula? Will it have meaningful/interesting sidequests? Will the towns be populated and lively? Until I hear more about that (as spoilerfree as it can be) I suspect that only the Zelda-gameplay will get much needed additions/changes and the story will remain as flat and 2-dimensional as it has always been. Now the combat...I'll say it again: 3D-Zelda combat has always been boring and it looks to me that it'll stay that way. A two button combo system would work great, I think. One button for heavy attacks, one for fast attacks, different combos. Each weapon has a different move set, some enemies are more suspectible to heavy attacks, etc. You catch my drift. My 2 cents about the technical side: I don't think it looks all that beautiful visually. The art style is great, don't get me wrong, but the world so far just seems empty. With the NX coming up, I really hope that everything we've seen will get a major upgrade. The audio will - as always - be awesome. I'm sure of that. tl;dr: I can see the hype, but I don't understand the IMMENSE hype that it gets. It will most likely reinvent Zelda, but it isn't as new, creative and inventive as some think it is. Now, with all the worries I have and all the things I'm not so fond of: This game, this approach that Nintendo is taking with one of their greatest franchises is hopefully a sign of things to come. I think I've said it once in the dedicated thread: Nintendo took one step out of their bubble. Now I want them to take a journey through the outside world, explore what there is to see, be inspired by what others do (software and hardware) and slowly but surely come back to glory. @Hero\-of\-Time, @King_V, I think it was you who wanted to read my impressions Edit: There are things that I haven't written down here, because I simply forgot them. I tend to think about stuff like this when I'm almost asleep so...
  24. Happy Birthday Animal Have a great day and keep being as awesome as you are.
  25. It's mostly the right wing parties who want a referendum in their country. And the UK referendum gives them basically free "propaganda". A very frightening situation. It most likely won't happen in Germany, even though there is a right wing party gaining popularity, but I think in France and the Netherlands it might become a problem.
