  1. See you tomorrow :p
  2. 6 hours on my first planet (new save). Still haven't found the last species for 100% discovery...I want that sweet 175,000 units bonus. Well, I've found a couple of drop pods so all is fine. As soon as I find that species I will fly into space and explore another planet. This game, guys...this game.
  3. New save, let's see... Definitely cold... ...but beautiful. Discovered this little fella. And this crazy son of a bitch... I wanted to stop playing 2 hours ago...but one more "?"...found a transmission tower that sent me to a ruin. On my way there I found a drop pod and a monolith. After that I reached the ruin and thought: "Well, one more "?""... Yeeeaaaaahhh.
  4. I was thinking of waypoints that could help you to find your way out of a huge cave or to remind of a certain facility that you need to explore. But what about a device which maps out the planet or preferably a small area around you? I think I'll delete my save and start from scratch. It was my plan all along. Play for a day to get used to everything and then begin again "for real". It's not like the knowledge I have now will give me big advantave on my new save. There's no real reason for this approach, it's just something I've decided on a couple of days ago Also: Apparently I still got the Atlas Guidance even though I declined it Hope this doesn't happen again. Edit: Save deleted I have to eat now, though...Playing this makes me forget everything... I hope that I'll remember taking more screenshots now that I know what I have to expect in the beginning.
  5. I can see how people don't like the game. I do think, however, that NMS is not a game for the majority of those (based on criticism I've read today). It's a game about exploration and survival. In my first 5 hours with the game which were spent entirely on the starting planet I've explored maybe 5% of the planet, mined resources, survived, discovered plants, discovered animals, discovered caves, discovered ruins, learned more words for the alien language...it's all a bit samey but for me this isn't a criticism with NMS. You can compare it to (vanilla) Minecraft: After a couple of hours you've seen everything there is but due to the procedurally generated world it's always a little bit different. Most importantly, though, the way you play makes every moment special. (With Minecraft the building aspect is huge, obviously. Hopefully NMS can deliver something like this, too.) I feel it's the same with NMS. If you don't like an experience similar to this you shouldn't have bought No Man's Sky. I think it was clear for a few months now that this is a game about exploration and discovery. The criticism I've read the most: "I've played this for 30 hours and feel like I've seen everything." Well, of course...you've played this for fucking 30 hours Anyway, tl;dr: I can understand the criticism but I'd say the game is only for gamers who enjoy discovery. NMS is wonderful and is definitely a game that defines this generation. A couple of things I'd like to see in the future: - Some kind of mapping. Simply being able to set waypoints which are visible on your HUD would be a great help (actually, I can't believe how the devs didn't think of that...). - Aliens don't feel like a true "living thing". There are no cities, you only see one specimen at a time and they are basically just traders. It works fine for now but I think there need to be alien races that feel like a civilization. - Being able to build stuff. But we're getting that so...awesome - flying should be reworked. You should be able to fly much more freely, i.e. not be locked at a certain altitude above ground. Let me try and land everywhere myself, let me boost through the air 50m above ground, let me risk crashing my ship. Still, I freaking love No Man's Sky. It has it's flaws but it certainly is a game that will be amongst my favourites forever. I mean, there's something wonderful about looking at the horizon and seeing 3 planets in the sky and knowing you can fly there if you want to.
  6. Yeah Still haven't left the planet. I want to get the money bonus for discovering 100% of the species. Two left. I know that one are those flying fucks that I simply cannot analyze...managed to shoot one but couldn't find its dead body after it dropped to the ground Edit: 100% discovery achieved...can't redeem my 250,000 units. The button won't work... Edit²: It was glitchy because I kept getting disconnected from the servers. I got the money now Reached my second planet after acquiring the Warp Drive. It's radioactive but I can deal with it. Two more species to go here and 100% discoveryachieved. Will explore some more later tonight. : peace:
  7. Having trouble analyzing flying creature They are too quick to analzye while they are in flight and my blaster doesn't reach high enough (or the projectiles aren't fast enough). And my planet is rather flat. Well, I've been walking around discovering shelters, plaques, new technologies, more resources...Still not ready to fly into space
  8. Well...I spent almost two hours on my starting planet and haven't even thought about flying into space. I was so absorbed that I didn't take too many screenshots... Started on a hot planet so it was easy to circumvent the hazard. Just enter the spaceship, a cave or a house and the heat level reduced Not the most beautiful planet, that's for sure Didn't take long when I saw some other spaceships flying around. This motherfucker was the first predator I've seen...it's small, it's fast and it's a freaking asshole
  9. [tweet]763311072430395392[/tweet] (yep, that's me) I'm home already.
  10. Good mornin' everybody. The practical course starts in an hour and I swear I will work as fast as I can. I'm so fucking excited, I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. My plan for today: 1. Finish the assignment for the course today in record time. 2. Pick up No Man's Sky. 3. At home, put in the disc, let the game install and download the patch. 4. In the meantime eat launch. 5. Play the game. 6. All day long. 7. All night long. 8. YES! I might write a loogbook with a couple of screenshots describing my first hour with the game.
  11. Pff...pre-order cancelled.
  12. Haven't watched anything about No Man's Sky in the past few months but with less than 24 hours to go (at least for me :p) I simply had to watch the launch trailer. I cannot fucking wait...
  13. Called the local Gamestop to make sure I can pick this up tomorrow. And I can. The practical course tomorrow won't take long. I'm probably out of there by 12pm : peace: I'll do the studying I had planned for tomorrow today and just enjoy a whole day (and night) of No Man's Sky
  14. I have a practical course this week. Need to get up very early so there's no way I'll be able to play much at night. ... ... ... lol I most likely won't sleep on Wednesday Working with toxic chemicals while being sleepy...what do the kids say these days? #YOLO The hype that has left me the past few months...it's back. And it's bigger than before.
  15. Guys, Gamestop has that 9.99€ offer...guys, I'll trade in Bloodborne and This War of Mine...GUYS, I will have No Man's Sky on Wednesday.
  16. August has been here for a couple of days now so it's time to reflect on July. Besides Overwatch, Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Multiplayer (can't believe I'm still playing and enjoying it after approx 300 hours) and Rocket League I've played through Plague Inc. Evolved, Dangerous Golf, Furi and Enter The Gungeon. It's a tough choice for my GOTM July. My girlfriend and I got the Platinum on Dangerous Golf, we had a great time playing this. Furi is as good as gameplay mechanics can get. Simple controls but incredible depth. Hmm...
  17. Watched the Stranger Things season finale just now. It was awesome. Really loved the series. Looking forward to season two (which Netflix boss said would be "dumb" not to do) : peace:
  18. I keep dropping hints like "if my girlfriend would treat me like this I'd break up", to "test" how he reacts. He always evades the topic... This is how I normally approach everything But in this situation...he often tries to justify her behaviour and I think if I tell him to break up he'd try the guilt-trip card himself (not to guilt me into something but rather guilt himself into not doing it...)
  19. I want my best friend to break up with his girlfriend... She is ridiculously jealous (my mate gets text like “Sure you’re not at another girls place?” when we go out for a beer), she controls him, she constantly plays the guild-trip card and she needs to see him literally every second of her free time. He always talks about how she makes a big deal out of nothing (example from minutes ago: he was on his way to her place but the bus was a little late…and she got angry, seriously angry with him…) and how tiring it is for him. This has been going on for 5 months now (they’ve been together for a year). He’s talked to her about it a lot of times but nothing has changed. He’s not himself anymore…the control she has over him turns him into a different person and it sickens me to see that. I’ve talked to him and told him that this relationship doesn’t seem to work…I don’t know whether I’d be in the right to say the words “you should break up with her”. My first girlfriend was like this and I broke up with her one week after it got out of hand. Maybe my experience is clouding my view on the situation, maybe I’m overreacting.
  20. Yeah, it might help looking for matches during daytime but I'm only at my place at night
  21. It took me 15 minutes to find a match on the highest difficulty and 4 times in a row people dropped out just before the match started... I don't want to waste my time waiting so I'd much rather boost the trophies :p
  22. Now that the buzz after the NX news has gone I can honestly say: I don't give a damn about Nintendo's new hardware. It was a little exciting reading about what the device (most likely) will be but because Nintendo didn't comment on that (did they?) the tiny bit of hype building inside me has disappeared again. They need to announce it already...and in my opinion they should've capitalized on the talk the NX got out of the rumours (yes, I still consider them just rumours) and tease us a bit. Confirm the news, show a photo of the console...a little something would've been perfect in that moment. It's really sad how indifferent I have become towards Nintendo and what they do.
  23. Had a talk with another mate today about exploration games. He is one of those who love to sit back and explore a huge world and do whatever the game let's you do. I then told him he should look up on No Man's Sky. He texted me just now: "This is exactly what I've been wanting from a video game since I started playing as a kid." Oh man, I really hope I'll get the student assistant job I applied for so I can afford this game by October...fingers crossed...
  24. Indeed. The problem is: some of the later challenges are impossible to win depending on what blocks/black magic you get next. It gets frustrating. I can't play the game for more than 30 minutes at a time... Some of the trophies will be insanely difficult because of the randomness. Winning the final trial without losing a life? Good luck with that... Still need to get the online trophies...anyone? :p
  25. Just a quick headsup: Apparently it'll only take about 15 minutes. There are 5 trophies: win an online match win an online survival match with 1 heart left win an online normal survival match without using any magic win an online game of every mode in every difficulty at least once (there are 3 game modes and 3 difficulties each, so 9 games in total) win a normal race match within 80 seconds without dropping any bricks (this can also be done offline with a second controller, but I don't have one so would love to get that online, too) So, if anybody would like to get these trophies and help me get them, let me know
