  1. I've been incredibly shy (with people I didn't know; with friends and people I knew it was all good) until I was 18 and entered the drama group in my school. My best friend at that time convinced me to do a minor role in the play. It was frightening for me even though it had been only one line. BUT a lot of people jumped ship so I got "promoted" to a bigger role 5 times. In the end I was one of the 3 leads... I kept telling my teacher that I was way too scared to do that but he kept insisting that he'll get me to a point where it will be no problem for me. And he did. I owe him quite a lot. After the performance the confidence that has been building up during rehearsal got one final push. With that I was able to talk to anybody without problems. This plus the fact that I started drinking helped me being comfortable talking to and flirting with ladies (don't want to promote drinking but it did help...). During my time as an Air Traffic Controller my confidence in general grew a lot more. Now I have no problems in any situation. I get nervous before job interviews, big presentations, etc, of course but it's nothing too daunting.
  2. Managed to eradicate all of humanity with every disease except the Simian Flu (haven't tried it, yet) on mega brutal in Plague Inc. Evolved : peace: Some were easy (Nano Virus, Necroa Virus, Bio Weapon), some were a bit more difficult (Prion, Neurax Worm) and one was an asshole (Fungus). Great game. Really glad I bought it. It strikes a nice balance between casual gaming and a lot of strategy.
  3. Reading lots of the dev's Twitter I'm pretty sure he just wanted to show off the game and called the video "Let's Play" just to take the piss out of everything
  4. Chiming in again. I did it. Found a way to circumvent a lot of randomness that Fungus brings with it and after 7 tries the remaining random stuff didn't screw everything up : peace: Next up: Neurax Worm on mega brutal difficulty.
  5. The fucking Fungus in Plague Inc. Evolved on mega brutal difficulty can suck my nuts. Just wanted to get it out of my system.
  6. I need this in my life.
  7. I went grocery shopping just now and trying out Pokémon Go! It's good fun A bit buggy and my phone might be too slow to handle it properly but the appeal is there. Now what did the first 20 minutes do to my current indifference to the main Pokémon series? Nothing. Pokémon Go! just plays with my nostalgia for the first Gen and it does a good job. It doesn't, however, make me excited for Sun/Moon. Just like Zelda gets its "reinvention" (via returning to its core roots) I think Pokémon needs one, too. And there is soooooo much potential. There were lots of discussions about a console entry and I think Pokémon Go! could give some inspiration for it. I can imagine a huge world were you wander around (not AR, this is the hypothetical console game) and Pokémon are flying, running, gathering in groups, swimming, diving, fighting each other, etc. and I enter the fray, throw my Pokéball and let my Pikachu fight a Seel so I can catch it. This experience combined with everything the main series has to offer (battles, gyms, stats, towns, caves, etc etc) in a big 3D world...that's the dream. Online optional, but preferred. When I think of Nintendo in recent years it always comes down to "wasted potential". I find this really sad. They have so many great IPs... Hopefully Pokémon Go!'s success (their first big adventure with mobile gaming) and the reception BotW has gotten will spark a fire within the company and bring back greatness.

  9. My Pokedex is fucked. Everytime I tap on a Pokemon to see its information I get sent to the Squirtle entry and its description l o o k s l i k e t h i s . . . Powering up Pokemon makes the app freeze for 10 seconds. A lot of stuff actually makes the app freeze. Do you have to be a certain level to access stores?

  11. I know and I did but that defies the point of the game. Pretty sure I'll have fun going around and catching Pokemon with that grass backdrop but I'm also sure that I'll lose interest quickly because AR would add much more to the game. So I'm hoping the AR can be optimised to make it run better. But I don't know if that's possible.

  13. With my phone not being able to handle AR properly (i.e. laggy as hell and crashes after 20 seconds) I doubt I'll play this much longer than a week or so. But it's a solid app. Will go for a walk now and check out some stores and try to catch Pokemon (with that boring grass backdrop ). I might go for a run, too but having to stop for stores and Pokemon is not really a good idea for cardio Interested to see whether a lot of people around university buildings will be catching mons as the WiFi for students is free Edit: Is it possible for the devs to make the app, in particular the AR to run more smoothly for phones with lower specs? Can AR be optimised that way?

  15. Game is out in Germany. I had to turn off AR because the game just doesn't run well on my phone with AR turned on apparently So no funny photos from me

  17. Patch is out. Ted Stryker is back. Maybe it's a tease to a spiritual Burnout successor...PLEASE BE! The lady and I have been playing this regularly and we are almost done with co-op. : peace: We might play the single player in "co-op" (taking turns) after that and get all platinum medals Edit: The patch turns an 8.5/10 into a 10/10 for me. That fast restart is awesome. The long loading times didn't bother me in co-op because I could just...do things with the lady, but for singleplayer it really makes things quicker The added one button controls improve the control scheme a lot. It's such a fun game

  19. As a huge Super Mario World fan I always watch the speedruns and this one in particular is amazing: He's a teenager, by the way. Not sure how old exactly. It's awesome how the community supports one of the youngest runners. Love that his grandma is there "So it's pretty apparent what he was going for there." "...Okay." She has no idea what's going on, but she supports his grandson and the charity event. Lovely

  21. I was thinking about bosses and combat in recent 3D Zelda games. They basically have one formula for bosses: You get an item in a dungeon, you use that item on a big weak spot GIANT ENEMY CRAB and then slash with your sword (mostly 3 times). It's boring. Playing Furi I've come to experience how awesome and more importantly varied combat can be with only a limited set of moves. Let me break it down for those who haven't played the game: Move list Melee - either a combo or a charged slash (charge, then release and you launch at the enemy) Long range - automatic pistol; can be charged (a hit will knock the enemy down, interrupting him) Block - or rather Parry; time it right and you can deflect certain bullets and parry incoming melee attacks, the latter refills your health a bit Dodge - press to quickly dodge a short distance into any direction; hold to charge and cover more space Charge - you can charge your melee weapon to make the next hit deal more damage (only usable in a specific situation) You only have a sword and that automatic pistol, no other equipment available. The fights There are several bosses in Furi. They all (except one optional boss) follow a similar formula: 2 Phases. One which can be either dealt with via close or ranged combat. The second phase (which you enter when dealing enough damage) is only close combat. (there are some exceptions to that formula but I don't want to spoil things). These phases repeat for a couple of times and they increase in difficulty because bosses add or improve moves. Then there is one final phase which almost always has you show off your greatest evation skills before landing the final hit. Sounds repetitive? I thought so, too, at first but I was very wrong. The enemy movesets and behaviour are what makes fights so varied. You need to adjust from phase to phase, what you may have perfected in the first phase might become almost useless in the next. Example boss (spoilers, obviously):

  23. Anyone with a Moto G 2 having horrible performance, too? Just installed it, and trying to catch the starter crashed the app 5 times. The catch was registered in the end, though, but AR is very laggy and not fun at all...

  25. Possibly the least deserving winner after Greece... 24 teams in the tournament are a horrible mistake.
