  1. The game starts with a bang... you control an evil character you kill the king war And that's the prologue First two missions of act 1 were your typical tutorial shenanigans and I assume the next few missions will introduce a lot more game mechanics. I can see the game becoming quite complicated pretty quickly. Characters seem lively, the game is lovely to look at, story so far is a little meh, but overall Wargroove is not bad. Not bad at all.
  2. Aaaaaaaanyway Took me 14 attempts to beat The Not So Impossible Lair, 5 of them I spent trying to complete the first checkpoint without being hit once. Even with me not enjoying how the final level is designed, I'm still going to give Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair a 5/5 rating. It's a fun, challenging yet fair (most of the time ) 2D-plaftormer. Actually, one of the very best of the genre. It puts Donkey Kong to shame, in my opinion. Can't wait to see what Playtonic Games has in store next.
  3. Ah, then I misunderstood. Indeed. And I understand that. It's just that I hate a levels that are designed that way Apparently I never played many platformers like that. My experience with games from those times seems to be a bit different.
  4. Disagree. It's only on the player once you know what to expect. Yes, there is a pattern, but there are certain parts where you have no time to figure out that pattern. Example: There's an upwards jump you have to make and during the camera scrolling upwards a heat seeking missile is launched. You couldn't even see the canon. There's almost no way you can escape the hit. Just made it to that section again and wouldn't you know it: I didn't get hit by the missile 'cause I knew there was one The challenges'/patterns'/jumps' difficulty is actually perfect, in my opinion. It's just that more often than not you can't figure out how to approach these things 'cause you simply don't have the time. It's why I love the old Mega Man games. You enter a new screen and have time to scan the area and even when there's enemies approaching you still are able to assess the situation and react accordingly. These games were difficult for the right reasons. Well, that's not really a problem for me
  5. Gave it a few tries. On my first attempt today I got to the third checkpoint with 15 bees left. No idea if that's enough for the next part + its boss. I'm also pretty sure that this'll be the remaining sections of the level. Sadly, this level sucks. The difficulty usually comes from not knowing what to expect and sometimes not having enough time to react/plan ahead. It all comes down to: memorization and I hate that shit in platforming games (edit: case in point: Just "beat" the first section without being hit; it's not a necessarily difficult level on its own, but if you don't know what's coming you will get hit) Pretty sure I'll get it done today after a few more tries, but it's a shame that this level will affect my overall impressions of this game quite negatively
  6. Everything's done except the final level. Haven't given it another go, yet, but will definitely try to complete it tomorrow.
  7. Yeah, I know
  8. Wow, way to go calling your newest family member boring Congrats
  9. Good question. 2019 was 7 years ago, so does Wargroove hold up?
  10. I probably wouldn't have bothered with it for a while if I was able to afford new games but I'll definitely give it a go once I'm done with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
  11. Just got a surprise in the mail. Apparently there was an offer for physical copies (PS4) on Amazon.de a few days ago. 6.70€ per copy. My sister's boyfriend ordered two. One for him, of course. And he sent the other one to me Tried Advance Wars many times but always stopped for some reason. It never was about the game itself, but rather about the fact that other games/things got in the way. Well, time to give this one a go soon.
  12. That's H-o-T for ya I'm proud of him.
  13. 7 more Bees, a few more T.W.I.T. Coins and Tonics are mine. Won't have time to play much more before Saturday evening It's a shame. This is a game that puts a smile on my face every second Can't believe this game is even better than Playtonic Games' first.
  14. 100 T.W.I.T. Coins, 23 Bees and 29 Tonics are mine. So pretty much half-way through the game. Absolutely loving it. There's so much polish everywhere. Level design is awesome. Wanna play it fast? Make use of the certain flow each level has. Wanna find secrets? Take it slow and look around. At first I thought having two versions of each level (I assume each level has one) is a bit lazy, but boy oh boy was I wrong. The alternate versions play out very differently and it's such a joy to play them. And the overworld...THE OVERWORLD. Filled with secrets, puzzles and awesome NPCs. Obviously, there's also that Playtonic Games charm and humor
  15. 5.5 % of players earned the Platinum? Pff, not that difficult then
  16. Tried it, died. No idea if I made any real progress as I don't know how long it is. Made some dumb mistakes, though, i.e. I lost 5 bees at the same hazard... Will finish the other levels before trying again, though.
  17. No idea, to be honest. Will definitely give it a shot later today.
  18. Now that I'm done with Yakuza: Like a Dragon I I'll be able to put more time into this. Tried the alternate version of level 8 and good lord, some of the T.W.I.T. Coins are tough to find Haven't given the Impossible Lair a try, yet. I doubt I'll get very far with only 14 bees, though
  19. You're a madman
  20. Ah, that makes more sense I'll guess I'll use a guide if I'm stuck anyways. For now, it's not that difficult to keep track of where to go. By the way, here's something that I hate: Paul being level 1. Well...it's a very old game, who knows if it would've been possible to make sure he got exp right from the start. Or maybe the devs just forgot
  21. Not entirely sure what you mean by adjective? Hm, I had one right from the start. I guess the remake/remaster just has it unlocked? Found the Prince of Cannock. Are the names of your companions chosen at random? I had the chance to change them, but Paul seemed like a good name
  22. Sorry, was too lazy searching for this thread Thanks for the info Decided to start it up and literally two seconds in that Dragon Quest charm got me hooked Guess what I'm doing...you got it. Getting the grind on
  23. What a game. Sometimes developers try to mix formulas/gameplay of two different games and they can't make it work. But what the team has done with Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a masterclass and showcase of how it can work. Yakuza's craziness and Dragon Quest's mechanics are a perfect fit but what makes it so special is the care and attention to detail that's been put into this iteration. The battle system is incredible, the presentation is top-notch, Yakuza madness and quality all around, the story is one of the best I've ever experienced in a game (it's got twists and characters that leave you emotionally invested all the way to the end). It just works. 10/10, love it!
