Gamecube or wait for Revolution?
monkeyDluffy replied to Meneer Guggenheimer's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Its gonna be quite a wait for either of them to be released anyway, I'd wait and see what the release date of zelda is, cause if its close ish to the rev release ya might aswell just wait and get a rev. -

HELP!! (Resident Evil 4 Ch 3-1 spoilers)
monkeyDluffy replied to That Guy's topic in General Gaming Discussion
as long as you keep her out of sight she should be ok, I took her down into where the cannon is ( a set of stairs on your left) and left her there, I think they got her once but I just ran down and killed them and left her again and finished killing the rest via the red barrels etc. Just put her in a place it takes them a while to get to one of their exits/red doors (which is the door you come in at the start of this section I think), this will give you enough time to go save her from most points in this section if needed. -
just a quick question, do we know how this is going to be done? I think I remember them saying it wouldn't be emulatored so how? Include a shrunk version of the GC CPU and GPU in the rev or will it just use the rev CPU and GPU as they are similar in design or could it use a twin core CPU/GPU with the old and new cores on the same chip so it could switch between the two as required? what do ya think?

well broadway is finished but, is it in dev kits yet? hollywood isn't finished yet so graphics processing wise they have no idea yet, plus its not just about the CPU/GPU power, its also about bus speeds etc, if nintendo can improve bus speeds then this will have a great effect on performance etc. My point is that theirs alot more that goes into making a console/PC etc work fast than just the CPU/GPU speeds, so wait and see the final machine to get a true idea of its capabilities. Edit: At double the gamecube, it should have enough power to run the unreal or doom engines and thats good enough for me!

maybe its an exsisting processor base, with some of these power reducing features built into it, who knows yet? good find though.

also if you read the full thing on ign it has the paragraph: Still, the studios we spoke with are still very intrigued by Revolution and are not ruling out the possibility of additional graphic horsepower. No developer that chatted with us had, or was willing to share, details on the console's GPU, Hollywood. One studio said: "As soon as we find out what it can do then we'll know if Revolution will just be like an Xbox or something a little more." So no one knows, they could have a cell processor in their but if the GPU is shit then the games would look shit, everyone needs to wait for the hollywood chip before we start making judgements!

anybody got the Sony NWA 1000 6Gb? was thinking of getting one but i'm not sure as on amazon you can get a sanyo 6Gb for £99.99, the sonys got better battery life and jog proof, plus I think looks better but it is an extra £30ish for pretty much the samething, what do ya think? EDIT: Also if someone does have the player do the buttons look odd? cause i've seen a shity demo shell in tesco and the buttons really look odd compared to the rest of the unit, really see through and colour less, which is one of the main reasons i'm holding off getting one.

have they said it would be a launch title, I can't remember?!

was thinking the other day, as you do, would it be a good move for nintendo to team up with apple etc and provide ipod/mp3 player connectivity for the rev? Its already got usb ports on it, could use that for almost all players bar the ipod, you could put a ipod connection on their as well. Now before the screams and shouts come, I ain't a fan of ipods, they look nice but I wouldn't buy one, I'm just thinking that the ipod has a very large market share and with ipod connectivity and the revs podish styling, nintendo could draw from that share, with the nintendo wifi connection as well it could enable people to buy from itunes, napster etc and download to the player. The apple connection could also get nintendo as a brand a bit more kudos and would provide more advertising through the apple tv spots. Not gonna happen but just sounding the idea. "he's finished!" EDIT: Sorry in kurt R and retro lover but the idea i totally forgot to mention, was that through the connectivity with the mp3 player that it could maybe be used for custom sound tracks ingames, much like the xbox hard drive but with something you probably already have, music is just streamed from the mp3 player into the game perfect:)

IGN Cube Mailbag article on Revolution HD support
monkeyDluffy replied to JetSetWilly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
from what I remember reading i think that the rev will output in a higher than normal resolution, but it won't be high enough to be classified as HD, what this means in reality maybe that you get a slightly crisper image on a HD tv. Also I think no HD support means that nintendo will not be coding its games for HD and they will not provide the cable to enable the rev to hook upto a HDI or what ever, socket on the tv, however a third party could provide a cable or nintendo themselves in the future if it decided to change its mind. -

going on the basis of 3 months approx.(or a business quarter) its only gonna be either Q2(july, aug, sep) or Q3(Oct, Nov, Dec) if they make the time scale and don't over run into 2007. Both seem good in different ways, Q2, you have the hype from E3, this is my personal opinion of a good place to launch(plus we'd get it sooner), but you also have christmas at the other end Q3, its all upto nintendo. It also sounds that the final hardware maybe finished by the start of the new year so a Q2 release is looking realistic. __________________

well with the coverage of his comments, he got what he wanted publicity for 360 and his 360 game, no shock that he loves 360, he'll love whatever he gets paid for!

these kind of people are fickle, if the rev comes out and is a big success then they'll be "best idea ever", if it flops "told ya so", they'll lick any arse put infront of them as long as they get pounds in their pockets! EDIT: Is it just me or is that guy a dodgy salesman for microsoft he couldn't have talked about it more, it was like QVC trying to sell a dodgy gold effect 20 inch thick chain, I don't want to buy!!!

Revolution Worldwide Launch in June 2006
monkeyDluffy replied to system_error's topic in Nintendo Gaming
well lets just hope its true, we'll probably have to wait until nearer the 360 launch before we hear anything concrete. -
I wouldn't hold ya breath, cause nintendo have always had a "we'll do it when we're ready" attitude, so it looks like 2007 for europe. oh well!

I remember reading an article(can't rememeber where) about how microsoft and sony are just trying to sell consoles and games to the hardcore fan base, because its easy, reliable money, make a game you know most hardcore fans like and the $$$$ come rolling in any time you like. We're seeing this happening with the next generation, the consoles and games are being priced to pray on this hardcore gaming money pot, that they know will pay whatever they want them too, to get hold of certain game titles. The problem with this is at a point this hardcore sector is gonna get board of the same old shit that looks nicer (how many bows can you put on a turd before people realise its just shit?) and then their in trouble, sorry about the rant but this is the point, I think nintendo realise this and are going in the right direction, but they need to price the games to make more people think, "well it's cheap enough might as well give it a try" which is what they need and want with rev and that is not gonna happen if the price goes over £40! Just my point of view.
