My problems with your arguments are that you largely seem to ignore the overarching facts and have carefully cherry picked your data to make your points. Like focusing on the top earners and Asians, while ignoring that you're far more likely to be in poverty if you're non white. In these discussions you should always be looking at the bottom (those truly suffering), not the top. I also mentioned that you're far less likely to become president or prime minister if you're black, but then you responded with what amounted to "but a president has been black", and it felt as though you thought you had reasonably countered my point, when you hadn't. Because the fact that something has happened does not mean that this proves that there is the same chance of a black person getting to that position as a white person. There are many factors (including the poverty statistic, as mentioned) that would decrease the chance of a black person even making it to being in a position of contention. And there are many who would put forward white candidates as they perceive them to have the "right image" that would garner votes more readily than black people. Surely you can see that even if there a lot of Asian high earners, that does not mean that there is no inherent racism in the various political systems? If you're going to bring up Asians, how many Asian presidents and prime ministers have there been relative to the proportion of Asians in those countries? I also mentioned the point about the House of Lords having a predisposition to retain white people in power (through hereditary peers), to which you didn't properly address either. This is irrefutably institutional racism. The idea that institutional racism is gone is the idea of a fantasist.

Plenty more were going into the specs and information discussed (e.g. Digital Foundry) or saying it was an interesting in-depth talk. As for the people who downvoted it, it's obviously not meant for the lay person and some people may have found it frustrating if they hadn't checked beforehand what it's about. Still, we can't honestly conclude it was a misstep if considerably more people upvoted that downvoted. That's just not how it works.

25% downvote vs 75% upvote means it was still generally very well received. 3 times as many people liked it as disliked it. This video never mattered much anyway in the grand scheme of things and I always thought you were making a big deal about it. As soon as the actual reveal event happened then that's all anyone really cared about. Just to show you what a video looks like when people are actually not happy, check the First Look Xbox Series X video. That actually has more downvotes than upvotes.

That's actually truly shameful. There can be no excuses for that - it's not like we can say they don't have the staff. They've just put the game out on Switch so it's a clear case of just having different priorities (making more profit over supporting versions they already put out). That said, the game is incredible. And if they ever did make a sequel, I would have to buy it at some point.

I find myself dipping into this game quite a lot recently on PS4. There's still nothing quite like this game, combat feels so tight and quick, it's sublime. I actually haven't been on the Vita version for many a year. I assume they eventually patched it? I remember it didn't just lag after Big Dog but would also crash when you defeated the Nuclear Throne!

Extremely disappointing given that it's their 10 year anniversary offering. I feel like the extra game is to offset the disappointment people will have about getting NBA, but they've spun it to make it seem like they're giving your more than normal. Would have been nicer for them to give us the more recent Shadow of the Tomb Raider. While Rise is great, it's been knocking around for ages and I'm sure a lot of people who would be interested like myself have played it by now.

This is not about guessing when it'll happen again, it is fundamentally understanding the process and cost involved in becoming president and how black people are at a disadvantage in this regard. White people are at an advantage across the vast majority of discernible metrics when compared to many minorities, and particularly compared to black people. As I said, black people are more likely to be born into deprived areas, and more likely to be born into poverty. Your point that white working class kids perform badly doesn't take into account that a higher proportion of black people are born into poverty than white people. Some stats on the proportions of those who live in low income households (from Poverty.co.uk): 20% for White people. 30% for Indians and Black Caribbeans. 50% for Black Africans. 60% for Pakistanis. 70% for Bangladeshis Your focus on top earners makes no sense to me; we should be looking at the bottom earners because those are the ones who truly suffer. And yet these titles favour white people, and lead to higher enrichment of white people and white representation in the House of Lords. With this example in hand I am not sure how you can continue to believe there is no institutional racism in the UK? There is no more clear an example than this. From my own perspective, if I was in this position where a person of colour told me that they were shocked at my comments about racism (something which I do not experience myself in this country), I'd absolutely be reflecting on what I said, and why.

In fact becoming president requires a lot of money and backing which again puts black people at a disadvantage. You keep saying this one very specific, cherry-picked statistic but this in no way disproves any points about white people having a societal head start over black people. Black people are likely to earn less and be born in more deprived areas than white people. And yet you say there is no institutional racism in this country? There are literally titles that can be bestowed upon white people in this country, and eventually their children, that let's be honest, black people will never manage to obtain. If it's still changing then how can you say there is no longer any institutional racism? Either we have changed and institutional racism is gone for good, or we are still changing. This response I feel absolutely did not address the point I was making. House of Lords contains hereditary peers which will pass on their position to their white children. The minorities that have been appointed (in addition to other white people, who also get appointed) are separate to this. So what am I saying? That there is a predisposition towards having white peers in the House of Lords. That, in a nutshell, is a solid example of institutional racism right there. Having an emotional reaction to an argument doesn't make it true, but it might help invoke some self reflection.

One single black person has gone on to be president but it doesn't mean black people have the same chance to become president. There are so many factors that will prevent many black people from ever even becoming a candidate. Also you are separating race from class when they are fact intertwined. If you are born into a black family you are less likely to even be middle class, and the way it's set up it's almost impossible for black people to be "upper" class aristocracy in this country. You say this country is not institutionally racist when it certainly is. Hereditary peers in the House of Lords for instance, are mostly white and pass on their positions to white children. Have to agree with you here, I was extremely shocked too to see anyone believing that. Mark my words there will be another scandal before long showing just how "dead" institutional racism really is.

Yeah I agree with all of this. I stopped playing about a week ago and feel all the better for it. I'd played every day up to that point. I got to the stage where I was logging on and hitting rocks, checking the two shops and having a quick scout for fossils, even though I have them all now. And visiting the Nook terminal. I was really just wasting half an hour each day doing some stuff which to be honest, wasn't really even enjoyable anymore and was just going through the motions. Redd is really the only worthwhile thing left to me and he comes just too infrequently. That, and the new bugs and fish that come each month. I agree that this game needed more content like furniture sets, and I'd also say it needed new shops (e.g. 24 hour ones) and the like. The content drops have all been very poor so far in my opinion. The absolute worst was the pointless stamp collecting mission in the museum, which bizarrely you could complete each day. Weirder is the fact you can do Reese and Cyrus's wedding photos every single day for a month - while it's not a terrible idea it gets tarnished through repetition, needed to get all the unique items. And bunny day, that was truly hot garbage. An event that actually got in the way of playing the game. Sorry if it sounds like I'm being negative but after the dust has settled, I've got to say that New Leaf was a much more enjoyable experience for me. This time around the biggest new feature - landscaping - just didn't appeal to me at all.

Yeah this was my thought. We have seen this kind of thing done on other systems in the past - delaying releases to tie in with the next gen. People getting these new consoles need new games to play (even buying games they wouldn't normally buy), so this stands to do better if it launches on next gen and last gen at the same time. The hype marketing machine for the game will now link up nicely with the launch of the next gen.

Fair enough, I hadn't realised that the upgrade process itself was being standardised on Xbox. Smart Delivery always sounded to me like Microsoft trying to brand something that already existed. For the PS5 it sounds like it might be more work for each publisher but it does sound as though Sony are actively supporting publishers with it (based on the tweet I could translate). They said it will be easy to do in that tweet, but we'll see. I must admit I am glad that Microsoft are adding a lot of pro-consumer features like backwards compatibility and game upgrades. I reckon Sony have had to respond to match their offerings in order to compete. Competition is always a good thing.

Microsoft have also left it to the publishers, it's totally up to them whether they choose to do it or not. You're right about Sony not announcing whether their first party games are all covered, but they also haven't said they're not yet. Regardless, the third party situation is the same. Also you've done this before - you're now arguing something else. I never said the scheme was exactly the same between systems, I was referring to the third party situation. If we trace how this conversation went down - you originally said "Their silence towards it pretty much made sure that was the case." That was in response to the tweet above which said "the update program for PS4>PS5 software copies will be done at the publisher's own discretion". Now that tweet clearly refers to publishers, as in the publishers of third party games rather than Sony itself. We are still waiting to hear whether Sony will do this for their own games. By the looks of things though with games like Ratchet and Clank which will be PS5 only, it wouldn't surprise me now if they don't have plans to develop PS5 versions of in-house PS4 exclusives.

It's the same as the Xbox actually, third party publishers are under no obligation to provide a next gen upgrade.

Inanimate means they're not living, not that they don't move. Which is essentially me saying "they're not people". Crystals are inanimate; they don't have feelings, don't betray, don't express emotion on their faces (on account of, you know, not having faces), and generally are fucking stupid. That last one is especially true. Don't even get me started on the plot of Final Fantasy IX, where they brought up the crystal and the bollocks about the shared consciousness at the eleventh hour. Yeah, I don't care if it was on the box art, it's still true! Crystals taint everything they've ever touched!

Can't you just lay it flat on the side without the bump? Sony often show of their consoles with the stand but it has never been actually needed before. Edit: ok looking at it from another angle it's not flat, but also the stand doesn't look like a big deal? Looks almost certain to be included with the console (since it's small) so not sure what the problem is?
