Inanimate means they're not living, not that they don't move. Which is essentially me saying "they're not people". Crystals are inanimate; they don't have feelings, don't betray, don't express emotion on their faces (on account of, you know, not having faces), and generally are fucking stupid. That last one is especially true. Don't even get me started on the plot of Final Fantasy IX, where they brought up the crystal and the bollocks about the shared consciousness at the eleventh hour. Yeah, I don't care if it was on the box art, it's still true! Crystals taint everything they've ever touched!

Can't you just lay it flat on the side without the bump? Sony often show of their consoles with the stand but it has never been actually needed before. Edit: ok looking at it from another angle it's not flat, but also the stand doesn't look like a big deal? Looks almost certain to be included with the console (since it's small) so not sure what the problem is?

I actually totally disagree with you, and in fact think that buying in 2022 is the least sensible time to buy the system. I've made this comment before but my reasoning: - If you look at the PS4 it took an entire 2 years for Sony to actually cut the price (in September 2015), and even then it was only by 50 quid. So by adopting 2 years later, if we look at what they did before, you are potentially saving only a small amount of money and foregoing 2 years when you could have played the superior versions of the games. - All popular (top 100) existing current gen games will run and be boosted, including new ones people are holding out on (like Cyberpunk, Last of Us, Ghosts of Tsushima), so you can carry on playing games with boosted performance. - Multiformat games will still release on the new consoles (including the games which release annually) so there'll still be games to play. And you'll get to play them at higher resolutions with much improved load times. Based on the footage Sony showed we can see how quick that SSD works, so there's potentially going to be some very nice QoL improvements here. - There will be some exclusives released in the first couple of years. If the console is expensive then I can understand a lot of people won't want to pick it up right away, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a wise move to wait just a couple of years. In my opinion the real winners are those who either buy right away to get the benefits as soon as possible, or buy towards the end of the generation when consoles are considerably discounted and there are lots of cheap great games to play. People who wait a relatively short time before buying probably aren't saving very much in the long run.

Yeah I am going to guess £425 for the digital edition PS5 and £499 for the regular.

This is a small thing (literally) but pretty cool - if you zoom in on the texture of the controllers:

Hell yeah, crystals are dull as dish water (they are inanimate) and recycled as a plot device so many times across Final Fantasy / Square Enix games. I swear to god whenever the main writer goes on holiday for a Final Fantasy style game, "crystals" are used as a placeholder that nobody ever quite gets round to replacing. I associate them more with the very early years of Final Fantasy when they were much more prominent in the plot, and no surprise that those games generally have the weakest stories. Unfortunately though they do still pop up in more recent games from time to time, like this one. Thanks for reminding me though, I'd pretty much managed to forget this game. My god, what a flaming sack of shite the story is in this game (and the manner in which it plays out). The way the story goes down with all the repetition is one of the most egregiously disrespectful wastes of time across all the video games I've played!

I mean they're pretty good, but let's not be silly now, I wouldn't say they're insane.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition (29th May)
Sheikah replied to ArtMediocre's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I really enjoyed the story, was nice to read Glen's summary as there were bits I had forgotten. I remember about the "experiment" between the scientists which I always thought was a nice touch.- 198 replies

The Exercise & Fitness Thread: The Struggle Is Real
Sheikah replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
Out of interest, what is up with your foot? I've had a foot problem since last year (pretty bad chronic plantar fasciitis), gives me bad heel pain. Like you I've taken to the exercise bike more due to it being low impact. -
Oh man. The memory of Chad Warden must forever be kept alive. ...ballliiiinnnn'.

Man, these figures are insane. Now that we've had time to process everything, has anyone decided to buy at launch? And if so, what price point is your limit? I'll be buying at launch - backwards compatibility with the games I'm currently playing makes this an easy sell for me. It's going to be my main console for the next generation and I plan to reap the benefits as soon as I can. I'm hoping it's not more than £599 but with the tech inside I don't think I'm going to be put off by the price. Last gen we saw consoles that were quite underpowered at launch so I'd rather them cost a bit more now if it means we get the proper generational jump.

Maybe you should just stop posting in this topic, clearly you don't know what you're talking about and you've too much of an agenda to contribute meaningfully. The numbers for a livestream are insane; bringing total PS4 install base into the conversation is a pointless comparison, as well you know. Many gamers do not follow gaming news. Still, these numbers show an unprecedented level of enthusiasm that bodes well for the success of the console.

This is how I feel. Personally I am disappointed that a lot of the content in the 3DS version (like new shops) just isn't here. I'm at the point now where I've played this game an awful lot over the months lot so anything added now would feel a bit late. I know they want to keep this game going for over a year but it's fair to say that most of what I do now are things I've done countless times before. I like things like getting art but that is basically one short moment every couple of weeks. The most exciting thing for me now is when a new month starts and there are a load of bugs and fish to catch. I'm not complaining too much though, I've got a lot of play out of the game after all.

Sounds like it's incredible. If I wasn't waiting to buy a PS5 I'd be all over this. Got to hand it to Sony, they support their console right up until the end.

Honestly I'm quite surprised how repulsed some people in this topic are by it, haha. To me the thought of possibly switching systems because of the appearance of the box seems rather fruity, but there you go. I can't be alone in generally not having too much of an opinion on how consoles look, right? To me it looks...fine. I mean, it's a box. I can't remember the last time I thought a console looked good. Maybe the Wii? At the end of the day it's going to sit in my TV cabinet out of sight. The controller I'll see a lot more of but the box itself...eh.

If it helps, Resi 2 remake is fantastic. I actually wouldn't recommend playing the PS1 versions - terrible voice acting and loading times when opening each door would put me off returning to them!
-
To be honest I would probably play the recent Resident Evil 2 remake. You don't need to have played Resi 1 and it will be a much more modern and enjoyable experience.
-
They're currently remaking Resident Evil 4. When that comes out, I implore you to check it out. One of the best games ever released in my opinion.

Yeah, very excited about this one. When you remember what Bluepoint did with SoTC, we can almost expect a reimagining to be done here. I remember playing Demon's on an import copy I got all those years ago; I remember me and [mention=3394]dwarf[/mention] sharing strats for PvP back in the day. Meat cleaver with clever rat's ring in low health for the win. [emoji6]

No one was calling you a troll, don't worry. Generally speaking, could it be that you're going off gaming? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that your interests were pretty specific.

It looks long but not quite fat enough to be a convincing PC tower. I'm surprised how much smaller the total volume looks than the Series X. Hopefully the ventilation doesn't suffer because of that!

This was definitely a highlight for me. Thought the trailer was especially well put together and really like the art style.

Sure, if you wait til now, a few months before the next console launches, those are some good prices. [emoji14] It's also worth noting that these games are all in the PlayStation Hits £16 range which took quite a while to come about. There's a lot of games that aren't in the Hits range that can be picked up for £5-10 pre-owned in places like GAME that will be quite a bit more on the storefront. I'm looking at you, Doom. Ultimately though it's an unknown and a punt to go digital only I think - we have no idea how quickly Sony will put together a discounted Hits range for PS5 so it could be quite a while before we see meaningful reductions and sales.
-
Not just more expensive at launch - even years later, unless there's a sale on the storefront you can usually expect to save either by buying preowned or even new disc copies if you shop around. Often it can be a pretty significant saving as well. It's a shame they don't price digital copies competitively - they see nothing from preowned game sales after all.

I think you're getting confused with Microsoft's studios here. [emoji14]
