There's 9 games but not all of them are great or to everyone's tastes (and some like Mario 64/Ocarina have been done so many times recently, including in the Mario Anniversary pack and OOT remaster on 3DS). So realistically many will be waiting for more content.

It's not great, is it. Given it's a paid sub you'd expect at least 3 games a month. This is less than one game a month so far.

So will this be the first game added since nearly 2 months of the service launching?

The Carbine is easily my favourite weapon. Get one with leech rounds at higher levels and it makes it quite easy to stay at full health throughout the game. I'm like you in that I've just recently got it during Black Friday. I've already completed all the biomes and am just working through the extra stuff now.

It can't be that bad if you got to the last quarter. I actually quite enjoyed it in the end, after it opens up more and the story comes to a conclusion. XIII-2 is even better, if you ever get that far. I'm struggling to see what's new about this announcement. PS Now already exists, as does PS Plus. PS Plus is still going to be a solo offering if that's all you want, so that's all most people will continue to stick with. Sounds as though they're just making the PS Now offering an "upgrade" on top of regular Plus (and dropping the "PS Now" branding altogether), rather than offering it as a separate sub as it is now. Sounds more like a branding change, probably because PS Now never really took off to the same extent Game Pass did. So yeah...what's new about this really?

I finished this game a few days ago, having never played much 2D Metroid before this, having never really gelled with it. I enjoyed it a lot, felt like a really well crafted game. I like how it's more of a puzzle game than anything else, and the ability to do instant counters really made the game less cumbersome to travel through. Definitely still some things to address (constant moving between zones and long loading times that come with that, and having to constantly backtrack to get items you couldn't reach before) but overall a really fun game, I thought. You really don't get many games like this.

I just find it funny that they say these issues have just come to light at launch. If that could possibly be true then that'd mean they were ridiculously negligent by not monitoring its development progress or the final build. That excuse just makes them look even worse than if they said nothing.

A great thing for me is how the teething period when a new console releases is mostly gone. By that I mean that you would have to start again from scratch without too much new software. Because it's back compatible from the off it feels like a natural continuation from the PS4 and not at all jarring. We're at the point now where you're never going to see a PS1 to PS2 style jump, that's just outside the realms of possibility. But the improvements we are seeing now are still really great from a QoL perspective. Fast loading and stable framerates (usually 60 FPS), and boosts to existing PS4 games that are practically transformational (thinking Ghost of Tsushima). I think Astrobot really showed off the new technology and I've enjoyed playing PS5 versions of games (as well as Demon's Souls). Really hotly anticipating Elden Ring now.

Good riddance to it if it is cancelled, always thought it looked like shit from the trailer/teaser thing. That chimp should win an award for most detestable/abrasive personality for a video game character. If the teaser had ended with him being domed that would have elevated this game to top tier for me.

I managed to play it for about an hour or so before and had great fun, I started as a Bloody Wolf. Didn't get very far but managed to explore a few sections of the map and unlock the steed. Combat feels very Dark Souls-like, and there's a real sense of exploration, like you can go anywhere you see. Can't wait to try it again, probably during the Sunday afternoon session.

I suspect it's probably quite well known because the Game Pass promotion is very heavily advertised in several places. Also everyone who had XBL Gold time back before Game Pass had launched (who then went on to sub to GP) would have become aware of this trick, since as soon as they subbed to Game Pass it would have converted their XBL Gold time to Game Pass time automatically. You'll also have people subbing to Game Pass for a month or a year just to play this game, but that will still mean people will be getting it far cheaper than they would have if they had to buy the game (which makes it a much easier sell).

I think it being priced at a pound probably works wonders, too.

Now by all accounts this sounds like a good game, but as always it's hard to make much of statistics that include copies that are more or less given away for free on Game Pass.

I mean, it doesn't prove it though, does it. Nintendo once said "Online is the air that we breathe" but that was patently untrue. The only thing that will prove whether we're really at the mid point is time. Not saying I disagree though, I personally thought people saying Switch 2 would be next year or thereabouts were off the mark.

@RedShell it looks Like The Tomorrow Children is being revived. I seem to remember you were into this back in the day. I did play it a bit and thought it was a shame to see it shut down - really surprising to see that it will be coming back.
