  1. Ah, fair enough. BBC fucked up with Jimmy Saville and therefore the opposite of everything they say must be true. Honestly though, what on Earth makes you think you're qualified to state those under 40 shouldn't be getting vaccinated? I'd bet anything you have no medical background whatsoever.
  2. Just wanted to note as well that this very point popped up on BBC's fact check segment today: It just shows that you need to be very critical of any claims and understand how to interpret sources, as well as the limitations of any databases. I honestly think that critical thinking needs to be taught more heavily in schools as people simply see these videos circulating online and take them at face value.
  3. It's painful to read false assertions like this yet not unexpected from someone who said there is no institutional racism in the UK... Your post reads like that of a conspiracy theorist. There are scientists far, far smarter than you that have recommended these age groups be vaccinated based on many reasons, and not just the death count. But I'm sure you know better, right?
  4. As with every year I whip out the air con machine when it gets hot like this, making it all perfectly fine. Even though it only gets used 1 or 2 weeks a year I've had it for about 10 years now so it's really paid for itself. Anything to not be boiling hot!
  5. And it's done! Definitely the hardest plat I've ever earned. Getting the chandelier kills was the last trophy I had to unlock, as well as finishing Frifle's challenges. While hunting 5 dragun I actually had an utterly insane run. On the first floor I found a rainbow chest that had wax wings (flight), an AKEY-47 (a gun which fires keys so you can unlock all chests/doors for free), a gungine (powerful weapon), a bunch of other powerful weapons and health upgrades. I also got cigarettes and ended up using them to boost coolness probably about 70 times, so I was getting a reward after pretty much every room clear. I eventually switched it for an elder blank and was able to blank almost constantly due to the very short cooldown due to my coolness level. To top it off, on the same run I found Clone in a black chest. Basically, this means that whenever you die you respawn on floor 1 with all (you read that right), all of your stuff, including all the extra hearts you accumulated and weapons/money etc. So as I was hunting 5 high dragun, I deliberately killed myself after killing dragun in chamber 5 to have another shot at killing him again but will all my stuff. This was the most overpowered run you can imagine. I made sure to do everything along the way; every hidden floor, the rat boss, etc. By the time I killed the dragun again I had thirteen hearts and about 35 keys (since I wasn't using them), 5 armour and probably in the region of 30 guns. It was taking forever to cycle through my guns to find my AKEY-47 every time!
  6. The entry level costs £350, only 40 quid more than the Switch. Meanwhile Steam games are generally much cheaper than Nintendo games. If they didn't have an entry price model then I might agree with you, but as it stands they clearly want it to sell to a broad range of gamers. They've no doubt looked at PS5s and Series X consoles flying off the shelves and see no problem with the pricing in terms of appeal. What I doubt though is that this system will do as well as they might want it to. Also comparing it to VR is not right, VR is much more niche in terms of appeal and always has been, but handheld gaming has always been massive in terms of broad appeal.
  7. But why? They're no doubt looking at the Switch and thinking they can do better to produce what is more or less a Switch Pro but for PC games.
  8. I expect they'll want it to sell pretty well, otherwise there's not much point of them making it. It's clear that they were going for a form similar to a Switch so comparisons with it are fair.
  9. And it weighs 669 grams! 70% heavier than the Switch. I don't know, I just can't quite see this having anywhere near the uptake of the Switch. It doesn't have exclusive games and I get the impression that people generally prefer to play full fat AAA games on their PC monitor or TV using their main system. And it's really expensive.
  10. Because Mass Effect 2 is so good. That's basically why - no disrespect to Mass Effect 3. Mass Effect 3 also had a disappointing ending, whereas the ending to Mass Effect 2 is routinely cited as one of the best missions ever in a game.
  11. But what tension is that? In the original you always have the Ocarina in your pocket which will save your game and reset the cycle. There is no danger that you will run out of time and lose everything you did since the start of Day 1 since you always have the means to reset/save on you. The real tension is in running out of time to do the things you want to do, like if you're partway through a dungeon and feel you won't complete it in time and will lose your progress. That same tension still exists with auto save, with no changes! In fact the most tension ever in this game was playing with the original save system on the Gamecube disc port of the game which regularly locked up, meaning you could lose hours of play. Again, auto save solves this problem!
  12. But permanent saves themselves are not the problem. The problem you noted above was save scumming - the act of loading up prior saves to undo a negative consequence or replay a segment with the foresight you learned. That is no different to how entering cheats is an action you have to willingly perform. I don't follow your point about the Kafei quest, how does this play out any differently with autosaves in effect, if you don't save scum (actively choose to cheat)? How is not save scumming any different from not entering cheats? It feels like your argument is the same one that elitists present as a reason why there shouldn't be easy modes in certain games to broaden accessibility, even though such a mode could be entirely ignored by said people if they choose. I don't really understand the fixation on how other people want to play their own single player games?
  13. But you just said to Glen-i that you were ok with the owl statues but not auto save because of the potential for save scumming. Save scumming though is something people have to actively do to cheat, just like entering cheats onto a sandcastle floor, so why do you only approve of cheats? If not save scumming then there is no disadvantage to auto save whatsoever, it is purely a QoL improvement.
  14. Ah man, dem feels. I remember getting all 1,000 G on this on the 360. This was a lot more fun than most Tales games! Oraaaaange cuure!
  15. But why do you care how other people choose to play their single player games? What did you think about the optional cheats in Banjo Kazooie?
  16. But as stated if you're backing up automatically then it can overwrite your good save on the cloud with a corrupted one. So Sony's approach works better than Nintendo's if that's truly the case (not surprising, because Nintendo often haven't a clue when it comes to things like this). The best system will be one that backs up often but also lets you restore several versions back, which I know PCs can do but that certainly isn't a standard by any means, at least not on console. Xbox for instance automatically syncs your save when you exist your game which could be disastrous if your save corrupts. Either way you can disable automatic cloud saves to achieve exactly what PlayStation consoles do so this is really more of an academic argument; people who want to cheat on other consoles still can with ease. But what difference does it make? You must still play the Song of Time to avoid a game over at the end of 3 days. You don't get any extra time advantage for having auto save. Having auto save means if your game crashes you don't lose your whole 3 day cycle's worth of progression which is a very good thing. It also means you can pause playing partway through a dungeon; you don't need to go out of the dungeon and find an owl statue. There's really no defending the old system in my opinion, I think you are just a bit too averse to change and perhaps a bit too focused on preserving history at the cost of quality of life improvements. You could easily implement autosaves to avoid the issue of people replaying Sakon's Hideout. Upon starting the hideout section the game could create a temporary checkpoint that if you were to load, would load you in after the quest had finished and assumed you failed. The only way to win would be to successfully complete the quest. That quest is easy as tits anyway, so not really a good example to bring up, but almost any example you could come up with about auto save being bad can be overcome without too much thought. Autosave also isn't as easily controlled as you're suggesting, since it saves by itself so it's not like you can easily reload back to the exact point you wanted. If anything autosave is the means to prevent cheating. In fact many online-only games where there is server-sided saving are constantly "auto saving" to their servers, so any gun you acquire in Destiny for instance cannot be lost if you console breaks. Everything is saved automatically.
  17. Not true, you don't need to turn the cloud saves off to do this. Cloud saves only backup on PS4/5 overnight when the console is suspended. If you think about it it wouldn't make any sense otherwise, since if the cloud was constantly being updated with whatever was on your console then a corrupted save would also be automatically backed up. That would rather defeat the point of them! It also doesn't require any technical knowledge at all, all you do is click online storage and go to the save you want then download it. The point is that anyone who wants to cheat by abusing saves can easily do it with cloud saves, just like people could technically do it with autosaves. If anything autosaves make it harder to cheat since a good, regular autosaving system will save right after you do things, so you can't just reload to try again! You still only have 3 days, it's not like you have more than 3 days by using autosave. it doesn't decouple the game from the Song of Time either, since you didn't use the Song of Time to suspend your game before (the owl statues don't use the Song of Time). All this does is change the mechanism for which you suspend your game. In order for progress to be "hard saved" you still need to play the Song of Time. And you still only have the same amount of time to complete a dungeon. All the autosaving does is provide a big QoL boost in that you don't need to leave dungeons to seek out an owl statue if you want to quit playing. And if your game freezes you don't lose progress either. All win win, really. If Nintendo want they could even force an autosave upon failing certain tasks like Sakon's Hideout - meaning you wouldn't be able to just reload and try again. You have to wonder why Nintendo would force that on people though, given the cyclical nature of the game meaning you can just try again and again anyway, just with a lot of faff involved each time. Again, I'd argue it's overkill to stop playing this way in a single player game.
  18. You make it sound like it's difficult. It's really quick to download a save off the cloud on PSN, for instance. So long as the system can be subverted either way then having suspend saves offers no real advantage, and exists at the cost of convenience. Ultimately if people want to cheat they can do it, and if it's a single player game then there's no real reason they should try stop it. Again though can you answer what real advantage people are getting by having Majora's Mask autosaves? Like I say, it seems to be very much a QoL bonus by not having to leave the dungeon and find an owl statue.
  19. Generally they don't unless there's a trading element (e.g. Pokémon) because that defeats the purpose of cloud saves. I've played loads of games that let you upload your suspend save. And so long as you can, autosave is the more convenient option and just as open to abuse as suspend saves. Also autosave doesn't ruin Majora's Mask, not really, since if you die during the game it's not like you go back to Day 1. You'll still have to play the Ocarina periodically to go back to Day 1 and the end of the 3 days. What does having autosave really ruin? I would save it's a quality of life improvement. Means if you're halfway through a dungeon and want to stop playing, you can pause instead of having to leave the dungeon and find one of those sodding statues. Mind you, with the ability to suspend consoles these days there's nothing Nintendo could have done to stop you suspending your play, so may as well make it so you can properly turn off your console and resume your game.
  20. Cloud saves now render suspended save options easily abusable so that's not even true.
  21. Sounds like a good change, it's not like this game is difficult so it's nice to have a modern QoL improvement like autosave.
  22. They're not the cheaper, more accessible option though. If anything expensive for what you're actually getting. The Series S for instance is 60 quid cheaper than this. Combine that with Game Pass and that's clearly the cheapest option by a long shot. Put it another way, the Switch has been out for over 4 years and instead of a price reduction we're being told the OLED model will cost £30 more. Sure it costs more than the base model to produce but you would expect these internal components cost Nintendo a lot less now, so they could replace the existing Switch with the OLED model at the same price if they wanted to. If they really wanted to, they could probably have sold a system with slightly more powerful internals at this £310 price and turned a profit (perhaps without an OLED screen).
  23. Yeah I'm saying that it's a shame that is their business model as (judging by a lot of reactions) they would have satisfied a lot more people by having a Pro model, or at least a resolution bump model in docked mode. I know chasing specs is not normally Nintendo's thing but an OLED upgrade is chasing specs in a small way, just a shame they stopped there. I genuinely think people are hungry for a bit of a spec boost, especially as the Switch struggles already in achieving its billed 1080p with some games while maintaining a solid framerate.
  24. Well that's why I didn't say handheld mode...I was saying it's a shame they couldn't improve the output above 1080p in docked (by changing the internals). While I think 720p is ok for handheld, 1080p does look rather fuzzy these days on larger TVs.
