  1. I never knew you were a SE london sort of lad! How comes you've never been to the meets?

  2. I've been wondering, somewhat skeptically, if they're pushing it as a home console first due to potential handheld limitations. It's hard to know without them telling us more about it, and if that's not going to be until January it's going to be quite a sting if there is something notable that people won't like.
  3. I'm not too much of a trophy man either(also not plats) though some games do make me want to get them more. Talking of Stickers made me think of two things we didn't see in the trailer unless I'm mistaken - Miis or rather even more Miiverse. Any chance Nintendo might have dropped or re-worked them somehow?
  4. Stash it behind/next to the TV? Would look messy I admit, but I am not a man of greatly tidyed organisation so not really a problem for me :p
  5. Absolutely - but I'm just playing skeptical given how hard Nintendo sometimes go down the route for a decision. If they're insisting this is a home console first, I can totally see them not aiming for it to be necessarily too easily chargeable out of the dock. I agree with others who've mentioned it possibly being USB - I think it certainly SHOULD be USB but again; it IS Nintendo. I want to be leaf, but I've just seen too many irksome decisions/approaches from them in the last gen or two. I can't help trying to just not get my hopes up, lest they be dashed later.
  6. Nexit...NeXit...NX?! IT WAS THERE ALL ALONG! Anyone got thoughts of slogans? Dunno why but the started popping into my mind yesterday. I can see them going with something like 'Nintendo Switch. Switch back on to gaming' or something like that. Gonna be very interesting what sort of marketing they go for considering they're saying they won't reveal any more this year and the thing's only out in March. If they mess up the marketing they won't have much if any time to really turn it around or the message - worries me that we might see another WiiU level of communication again.
  7. Yeah I'm expecting that too @Goafer but it's Nintendo after all! They don't even like putting chargers with some of their handhelds as standard!
  8. So I just been thinking - the dock provides power/charging, right? Does that mean you can ONLY charge the thing on the dock? What if you want to play in bed, or someone else has the TV? If you start to red-light then what, you have to go plug it in and leave it to charge or hope that the TV is free to play then? What if you take it out and about with you, and you can't save exactly where you are at the time when you stop playing - and then the thing dies? If there's not extra way to charge it outside of the dock I can see some potential issues. I hate to go too crazy with the wild speculations - but is there any chance it sticks out a bit at the top simply just to make it easier to grab the thing back out of the dock? Really do like your little notifications idea though! Exactly my thoughts whenever I hear the name Yeah I was just thinking that as reading myself. Bit dangerous imo. Certainly a possibility I wouldn't put past someone like Nintendo.
  9. I'd been hoping I'd manage to make it down to help out with and support this, but it seems I've just left it all too late to get myself properly organised in addition to some other stuff happening on the same weekend. Honestly wish you guys all the best with it - if there's anything I can do from tinternets or to support otherwise I'm still very happy to try! Seen Ashley's just shared the JustGiving page; I'll share it in a day or two on the facebooks myself.
  10. Whilst I agree a sideways wiimote isn't my control of choice for Smash - a bad workman always blames his tools. I'm not as up to scratch as Marcamillian who actually will take it often if he can get it, but I do try to ensure I can still kick a reasonable level of ass with any Smash control method. Been a delight shaming a few folks who judged the sideways wiimote On point - why Joy Cons? Why not NinCons, D-Cons, NintenCons? ConCons? CanCans?? Literally anything but Joy Con. I was, as I said, rather impressed with the reveal but as ever this is Nintendo putting some stupid fucking idea before sense - one that I genuinely could damage its image too(as Flink kinda relates above).
  11. Don't think kit's been mentioned but a good observation. I quite like the branding so far - I just hate the 'Joy Con'. Cant understand it at all. Sounds like a fucking dildo.
  12. I'd 100% say it's not a dual screen, given by the docking cover up. Touch I guess remains unspecified/said(surely will be?) but at least they're quite good/clear with the dock in the reveal that it's one screen at a time.
  13. Interesting trailer - feeling positive but still sceptical. Joy Con's a fucking stupid name though. Waiting for more info and most importantly price before I contemplate it. Online features need to be absolutely on point.
  14. I've actually just re-watched that reveal - am I right in thinking that about less than half of what we saw in that video actually ended up being a WiiU reality? Like the actual things shown; I don't recognise much of it! If I'm actually right and not just terribly mistaken - it takes me to wondering how much a 3 min reveal today might hold relevance to a final product in 6 months time!
  15. So...were you in this thread the other week at all :p? Hey now, bob didn't mention any names! Besides which you only help illustrate the point - Emily too is supposedly even more in the know than yourself(albeit apparently far more accurate too) - that's exactly the point. Everyone claims to be right and confident and then they're wrong! It heavily discredits said people for the future. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I'm hoping that as someone suggested earlier this mini-reveal will allow 3rd parties to open up and talk. I think having the news come from more sources from just Ninty and especially 3rd parties will be good for some of the NX's image. Just hope there's more than Ubisoft on board!
  16. Maybe it'll just be 3 minutes focusing on the detachable controllers so we don't get confused about what it is or anything...
  17. She's been a video games journalist for quite a while - wrote a number of pretty comprehensive good read articles on Not Enough Shaders(NES) then went off to do her own thing on what I thought was her own site(Dromble) either before or after trying to leave video games journalism to help indies or something(obvs didn't work out as she came back to writing). Not sure who she writes for now(think just her own WP blog), but her articles were as I said usually quite a good read for some of Nintendo's histories. Given the nature of her articles and having seen her about a few times I give her a bit more credence than most other speculators - but I still take it all with a rather large pinch of salt. I much prefer when she sticks to writing stuff. Same - wondering if this might just be a quick teaser trailer for a more official/fuller reveal and they're doing it to get some hype and awareness up and out there - many people may have stopped caring by this point and they'll wanna try and build that back up a bit if so.

Sure thang! Should be on the side of my profile but my name's Rumdumcious. I play with a few of my mates too, but if we're on feel free to join! They all know about my N-Europe buddies :)

  19. Shut up @Dr\. bob! It's just a bloody word! Is it a london thing? I wanted to say it's a london thing but I don't actually think it is. I don't know. ANYWAY. Good points actually - but if it's a strategy they specifically go for to avoid risk of losing money on unsold units, surely that's something that can be sold to the board? Also as I said I'm not talking like long term years or anything, just maybe first few months. You aren't trying to capture a particular buying season so I can't see a downside to it. I'm not saying it's definitely sensible, but I just can't see the major downsides - I'm not sure if shareholder/shareprice is going to matter enough in the short-ish period I'm thinking. Oh yeah, I don't disagree they need to push hard at some point. I'm just saying a cautious launch could save them some monies on avoiding over-manufacture of stock from the get go. Significantly overshooting incurs higher costs both for the manufacture(components/tech/price falling over time) and having stale stock about. I still think it's a mistake probably made with the WiiU(though I have no way of knowing) and if it is one maybe it's something they've considered and want to try and approach differently this time? I'm also not suggesting a stutter - I'm saying release cautiously with a view to meet higher demand if it's there. If it isn't there they risk losing money as above. If it IS there - well, they can meet it or possibly run a little short of it; how damaging will running a little short really cost them? Will someone decide not to buy an NX just because it wasn't there the one day they wanted after they've already waited all this time? Price, ofc, factors into that decision and it's one that none of us know yet. A stutter could happen regardless of their supply plans - if the demand isn't there(similar arguably to Wii U) it'll stutter regardless. Hyping it and making the thing do well CAN come later. It doesn't have to be on launch. Showing that the console is hot property, too, can come later - and again as a portable I think it'll start doing that to an extent by itself and begin selling itself with that.
  20. They wanted to - but how did it work for them! They had to cut it later! I don't see any problem with spending a few months being cautious on the manufacturing until you've got an idea of what demand's looking like. I wish I could know but with their forecasts and predictions I've always wondered if they over manufactured WiiUs for demand and ended up paying a price for that. I say don't make NX too hype, don't overshoot expectations, go easy and cautious and then build from there. If you aren't releasing for a holiday/spending season then I don't see the need to push too hard for the launch. I know it seems counter-intuitive and in my mind I even still feel that, but I can't see too many downsides to it as I think about it now.
  21. I think your posts have finally sold me on it H-o-T, though like Guy I'll not pick it up until after OW's Halloween stuff's done. Shame about the battle system and things(not having a full/proper levelling system does make it seem like it's a bit redundant for the style) but most else sounds like it's been on point for you so I think I'll give this a go with the hope it takes me back to the good old days! At worst it'll just take me back to Sticker Start, which in itself was still a decent outing

What system you playing Overwatch on Guy? Just saw your post in the Color Splash thread - I'm looking for more PS4 friends so I can get my 20% group bonus when playing!

  23. Why not though? What do they lose with the approach I mention in my post? I can't see too much of a downside(I'm assuming a March/non-holiday release). What difference does it make selling well form the start, to good over the lifetime - didn't PS3 do this, though for different reasons? Look at it this way - they've still got a core group of consumers. Sure, that's core's probably shrunk, but they've still got some guaranteed buyers out there and some fence-y maybes. Come out cautious so you don't risk losing money(higher manufacturing cost, storage cost of unsold units etc) with a plan to ramp up if demand is there and respond as appropriate. Don't forget the other good thing about this system(if the rumours are true) - it's portable. It won't JUST be sitting in living rooms; it'll actually be getting out there in the big wider world. Non-owners are likely to encounter it via the owners. It has that benefit to it that it may start to sell itself slowly over time by people actually seeing it - I don't doubt a number of portable systems have sold to people who've learnt about them from another existing owner of said system. Think about local multiplayer experiences with that(for example Mario Party single-cart 4 player download has been mentioned in the favourite marios thread) - this system could take the previous successes of the handheld and build upon it!
  24. I thought there's known bad blood between Rockstar and Nintendo from quite back in the day? Not sure why I think it, but I'll look into it in a sec! EDIT: Nope, can't find anything with some quick searching. Must have made it up! Anyway - got thinking with a bit of a business flip; what if Nintendo don't want it to be too big off the bat? What if they're going to go cautious into the market after the WiiU? I'm still convinced they overmanufactured for their demand there and, if so, maybe it makes sense to try and go softly into the market and see what the demand is like? Of course, hype it too much and you can't keep up with stock and piss people off, hype it too little and you won't sell anything straight away; but can't you do a marketing push of sort of soft launch for the product after its actual release? Without a holiday season release there's really not any reason I can see to want to smash it right out of the gate.
  25. That's certainly one of my concerns. Again, echo chambers and whatnot but think of how many people here got a WiiU on launch(or even got a WiiU at all) and ask if they'd still buy on launch or even think they'll commit to the system? Whilst I didn't get a Wii U on launch I knew I would eventually - I genuinely don't know how I feel about the NX now though and I can't say it's something that I'm thinking I'll definitely be getting. Of course that, again, is not helped by the fact we don't have anything official.
