  1. Err...where did I say anyone was moaning?! I just said that some people don't like that. Not sure how you manage to conjure words that just aren't being said. Besides which - The 3DS didn't actually do it though, did it? Sure, it works, but the 3DS itself didn't 'do it' afaik. If anyone can prove me wrong and show me an official USB charge cable then sure thing, but it's not an official thing and some people don't like that; especially more so when it comes to something like charging/power supply. Fair point about the NES mini though - if that's actually got USB rather than something else proprietary then it's a good sign for the Switch doing similar(assuming it meets what Nintendo want it to do with the USB standard; can't see why not but who knows).
  2. Loving the Halloween mixup for the avatar!

  3. Yes, I fully understand the concept and would you even believe I have a cable myself. I never said it wasn't possible and, in fact, I even acknowledged that it was. My point was, I thought quite clearly, that it isn't an official thing. Some people don't like that. Besides which if they actually adopt USB in their product then they have to actually adhere to the USB standards unless I'm mistaken.
  4. Not officially afaik though. I think the idea/hope here will be that it is.
  5. Colour me corrected! Personally I'm just not sure I can stand to invest that level of money in Nintendo's product off the bat again(WiiU was the first console I never got at launch since N64 iirc) especially when I'm getting pretty good value out of alternative offerings. Don't get me wrong I really do want to, but I just feel like I got more burned with WiiU than I'd have liked. Often felt like promises with half-hearted implementation/realisation. I was really excited about even Mario Maker when it happened(poss last game I bought for it) - but still that left me feeling bummed again. With the approach they seem to be taking - yeah I think something's holding them up. Again though - as much as I want to hope it's something sensible/rational completely outside of their control I get increasingly worried that it might not be.
  6. I think somewhat sensible is 64GB MicroSD as standard in the system itself, with potential to expand the dock with a HDD maybe? Figure out transferring and stuff via the docked feature, to allow you to move/pick and choose your games for portableness as takes your fancy. Game carts hold own potential for writing/ patches(though annoying/fiddly if you have to update like 3/4 before going out)? I feel like whilst we know a little bit about the system, we're back to where we were last week with many more questions. Fun to speculate in the interim though!
  7. Not quite MH related but this one of the places I feel 'Switch' falls down - it's actually a word that's got a fairly common usage. I feel like if I see 'Monster Hunter Switch' my mind wants to be like 'switch what?' whereas if it was Monster Hunter NX then I'd be a bit more like 'Ah, NX must have its own sort of meaning'.
  8. Damn the Switch! It's making me think I'd love to get this game more(still planning to at some point, but maybe not so soon now) but I'd be less inclined sitting down at home to play it - would love this as a portable like Sticker Star.
  9. Switch MH would be megatons. I bought MH3U but didn't really play it enough(on the bandwagon after it sailed) and got fucked up by Nintendo's stupid online when I tried to buy a reduced 3DS copy, but if you told me I could get the Switch+Monster Hunter it'd make Day 1 a lot more attractive to me. I've mentioned repeatedly but having a functionality of specific content/quests when docked at home compared to a more local/portable content when out and about around others with a Switch would be kinda cool/interesting. You go out - meet someone, hunt/quest with them, become friends and then later play at home for the other content - it gives both parts of the system an equal representation of sorts.
  10. Wow, should have come in this thread earlier! H-o-T and FLink have very much seemed to sum up a lot of my own thoughts/feelings on the system so far. Not quite on the line - but one thing cool about the system's apparent setup is that is if it DID have FIFA - how awesome would it be if you're on your lunch at work; bust out your Switch, and have a quick game with a mate? Ofc that does actually as I type make me wonder about the screen size for having a two player game like Fifa, but...yeah! I just like the idea of that ease of quick multiplay. I'd disagree from just the folks here(though admittedly not representative) - I'd say least me, kav, HoT and Flink are interested but certainly on the fence from the posts so far. I like the promise of the system - but right now it isn't a day one or guaranteed purchase for me until I know a significant amount more about it. EDIT: Nvm hadn't caught up on all posts and this has been pretty well addressed already!
  11. My heart just melted a little bit
  12. I never knew you were a SE london sort of lad! How comes you've never been to the meets?

  13. I've been wondering, somewhat skeptically, if they're pushing it as a home console first due to potential handheld limitations. It's hard to know without them telling us more about it, and if that's not going to be until January it's going to be quite a sting if there is something notable that people won't like.
  14. I'm not too much of a trophy man either(also not plats) though some games do make me want to get them more. Talking of Stickers made me think of two things we didn't see in the trailer unless I'm mistaken - Miis or rather even more Miiverse. Any chance Nintendo might have dropped or re-worked them somehow?
  15. Stash it behind/next to the TV? Would look messy I admit, but I am not a man of greatly tidyed organisation so not really a problem for me :p
  16. Absolutely - but I'm just playing skeptical given how hard Nintendo sometimes go down the route for a decision. If they're insisting this is a home console first, I can totally see them not aiming for it to be necessarily too easily chargeable out of the dock. I agree with others who've mentioned it possibly being USB - I think it certainly SHOULD be USB but again; it IS Nintendo. I want to be leaf, but I've just seen too many irksome decisions/approaches from them in the last gen or two. I can't help trying to just not get my hopes up, lest they be dashed later.
  17. Nexit...NeXit...NX?! IT WAS THERE ALL ALONG! Anyone got thoughts of slogans? Dunno why but the started popping into my mind yesterday. I can see them going with something like 'Nintendo Switch. Switch back on to gaming' or something like that. Gonna be very interesting what sort of marketing they go for considering they're saying they won't reveal any more this year and the thing's only out in March. If they mess up the marketing they won't have much if any time to really turn it around or the message - worries me that we might see another WiiU level of communication again.
  18. Yeah I'm expecting that too @Goafer but it's Nintendo after all! They don't even like putting chargers with some of their handhelds as standard!
  19. So I just been thinking - the dock provides power/charging, right? Does that mean you can ONLY charge the thing on the dock? What if you want to play in bed, or someone else has the TV? If you start to red-light then what, you have to go plug it in and leave it to charge or hope that the TV is free to play then? What if you take it out and about with you, and you can't save exactly where you are at the time when you stop playing - and then the thing dies? If there's not extra way to charge it outside of the dock I can see some potential issues. I hate to go too crazy with the wild speculations - but is there any chance it sticks out a bit at the top simply just to make it easier to grab the thing back out of the dock? Really do like your little notifications idea though! Exactly my thoughts whenever I hear the name Yeah I was just thinking that as reading myself. Bit dangerous imo. Certainly a possibility I wouldn't put past someone like Nintendo.
  20. I'd been hoping I'd manage to make it down to help out with and support this, but it seems I've just left it all too late to get myself properly organised in addition to some other stuff happening on the same weekend. Honestly wish you guys all the best with it - if there's anything I can do from tinternets or to support otherwise I'm still very happy to try! Seen Ashley's just shared the JustGiving page; I'll share it in a day or two on the facebooks myself.
  21. Whilst I agree a sideways wiimote isn't my control of choice for Smash - a bad workman always blames his tools. I'm not as up to scratch as Marcamillian who actually will take it often if he can get it, but I do try to ensure I can still kick a reasonable level of ass with any Smash control method. Been a delight shaming a few folks who judged the sideways wiimote On point - why Joy Cons? Why not NinCons, D-Cons, NintenCons? ConCons? CanCans?? Literally anything but Joy Con. I was, as I said, rather impressed with the reveal but as ever this is Nintendo putting some stupid fucking idea before sense - one that I genuinely could damage its image too(as Flink kinda relates above).
  22. Don't think kit's been mentioned but a good observation. I quite like the branding so far - I just hate the 'Joy Con'. Cant understand it at all. Sounds like a fucking dildo.
  23. I'd 100% say it's not a dual screen, given by the docking cover up. Touch I guess remains unspecified/said(surely will be?) but at least they're quite good/clear with the dock in the reveal that it's one screen at a time.
  24. Interesting trailer - feeling positive but still sceptical. Joy Con's a fucking stupid name though. Waiting for more info and most importantly price before I contemplate it. Online features need to be absolutely on point.
  25. I've actually just re-watched that reveal - am I right in thinking that about less than half of what we saw in that video actually ended up being a WiiU reality? Like the actual things shown; I don't recognise much of it! If I'm actually right and not just terribly mistaken - it takes me to wondering how much a 3 min reveal today might hold relevance to a final product in 6 months time!
