If that's £250 with a game that isn't BotW then that would be very close to being my Day 1 purchase price. The strange thing is, even with that price, I'm still feeling a little apprehensive and might not get it on launch but maybe a few months after instead - just to see what thoughts and feelings are generally first. Hopefully I'm more of a minority with the above, but if not then I do have to wonder if it might be slow to take off which won't be great for it. I'd also wonder if it's going to come out around £220 here whether it'll go for a paid online model like the competition. I think...£280 for the system, a game, and a year's online isn't too bad really.

You'll smash £1000, the next checkpoint is £1500! What are the tech issues btw?
-
Sorry I couldn't make it there to help out guys but good luck to you all! Will try to tune in at some point if I can!
-
Me too definitely! If anyone does see it come up please let me know! My 3DS is a poor old wreck so I'd jump in at that sort of price for something future-proof'd of sorts!

I always like to know a rough investment time for games - helped along even further in the last few years by the excellent HLTB that you mention. I often look for value of my games in terms of playtime vs price, and often use HLTB to get an idea of whether a game is about the kind of length matched to the price that I'm after. Mentally I generally feel like I like a 10hourish minimum from my games. I dunno why, but I feel like 10-20 hours for standard pricing(even tho I always do my best to pay less than that :p) is where I'm at. I sometimes get shorter games but it tends to be rare - balancing the time reward against the cost makes me tend to avoid it unless the price/recommendations are excellent. Despite all that however - I get a bit fed up with anything too long these days! I recall TP clocking up around 40ish hours; I'd probably do that again for a Zelda game but I find it hard to commit to that elsewhere, especially on a home console. The majority of my actual playtime is maybe on portable/3DS or online really(where I get social at the same time, two birds, more value etc).

I used to game at Xmas a lot - naturally because it'd be when I got games etc as a kid, or big releases came up for the period. However I'm not really sure I can recall my last major 'Christmas gaming' feeling since 2006 when the Wii/TP came out. Maybe some VC stuff a year or two after that(Paper Mario comes to mind). I have had a bit of a nostalgic/hankering feeling for Xmas gaming recently though - I think actually spurred by your posts about annual SMWing! The other thing for me is also that I don't really need/tend to take time off around Xmas. We close on all of the obvious days but otherwise are open and tbh I'll just tend to carry on working where necessary. A lot of my other time around Xmas tends to be taken up with seeing people who are back home/in the area rather than sitting down for a proper gaming sesh!

US Presidential Election 2016 - Nightmare Mode
Rummy replied to gaggle64's topic in General Chit Chat
Just as with Brexit, this is the sort of thing that upsets and worries me the most. I'm hoping however, that like Brexit, it may die down a bit. Generally it seems enough of the UK/US is taking notice of Brexit/Trump and I'm just kinda hoping(not entirely blindly) that the general strength of people and humanity will overcome it. Yes there's people across our societies who haven't moved on or are stuck in the past; but many many day to day people have progressed far from the older views ie gay(and before interracial) marriage and a lot of that is the youth of today; hopefully still going to be shaping tomorrow. It's easy to knee-jerk to all this, but I'm with Nicktendo in that I don't think this will be grand disaster we're expecting quite just yet. I could be wrong, or maybe I'm just hopeful, but we'll see what time brings. -
US Presidential Election 2016 - Nightmare Mode

My only real concern about it is similar to that of Brexit - giving rise to legitimisation of the sort of biggoted views he expressed. Let's not forget though - whilst there were more votes for Hilary, there surely definitely has to be a significant amount of support for Trump from non-biggoted minorities to have gotten him to presidency? There must be minorities mixed into those who voted - just like with Brexit not everyone who voted for him was necessarily racist/bigoted/sexist etc. I'm hoping a lot of the stuff Trump spouted was just bluster to get him in and he'll cut back on that now. He said a lot of silly things during the campaign such as building the wall etc - but how realistically is that actually going to happen? He's already apparently going back on some of the things he said(which should really be no surprise from many politicians making a run for power). I think some of the bigotry within Brexit was much more insidious. I think a number of people who voted for Trump probably thought many of the things he said were so ridiculous(and some were) that they'll never come true or were taken too literally. I don't think every Trump voted genuinely believed he'd build a wall, or that Hilary and Obama created ISIS etc. but I think there were some more ealistic bits mixed in that made him appeal when many people seem to feel quite anti-establishment atm. Brexit was, in hindsight, incredibly similar imo. Either all that or he somehow doesn't last his full term due to some ridiculous scandal or something. Iono. Just gotta wait and see. -
Turned it on and off again? Tried DMZing it? Wiring in? As others I haven't had any PSN issues lately but I also haven't been on so much for last few days so could be missing intermittent issues!

US Presidential Election 2016 - Nightmare Mode

My sort of feelings on the situation too. I think the year so far has drained me too much that I've approached this as very 'meh' and what's done is done. I couldn't have, and won't, be able to realistically change anything so it's more a case now of just sitting back and seeing what happens. Who even knows, he might yet turn out to be an excellent president?! -
Not watched the vid as not able to right now but didn't @Ashley or someone post an article along the similar sort of lines at some point? I recall it looked at bother the number of NX/switch articles in addition to the number/variance of publications putting out said articles. Looked like quite a range of reporting across the board which surely isn't anything too bad.

I feel like I saw more people with Sega consoles growing up than Nintendo. Even my cousins who had the Gameboy had a Mega Drive, kid in my street had a Mega Drive, couple mates from school had mega drive/master system. I saw a NES or two/SNES when I went on holiday to America, but UK wise I think there was only one person(another kid/family in my street) that I knew of with a SNES until later years when my mate got one in like 1996 or something silly. Plus side to it all however other than lack of lending games was that we'd at least have different experiences when we hung out at each others' houses

He's literally already clarified the point to be completely not what you're seeming to argue against. I think one of the biggest problems on this forum atm is people seemingly refusing to acknowledge/address other people's points. Given we're all here to discuss, I can understand if and when some people get upset/offended when their posts/points appear to be completely ignored. Obviously not something I can heavily do much about - but can we be careful to both read/acknowledge what someone is saying as well as doing our best to avoid discounting people's opinions/experiences. Just noticing it on occasion lately and it's certainly the sort of thing that leads to tensions imo.

You guys are the meanest :'(
-
Sorry yeah that makes perfect sense - I didn't clock the overlap at all as I simply wasn't expecting it! Completely ignore me :x

£50 is almost the regular full price of the game! I'd dare say maybe you won't like it(you totes willthbo), but you should get a copy in the interim in case one of you does then consider digital! Tbh I do believe digital's around the £50ish mark anyhow, so £25 for a copy isn't too bad(if you allow the cost of laziness).
-
Why ever would you? Where's the bizarre? They're all standalone games upon their own merit; should the list also collapse the Galaxies?? They're probably far more like each other than a couple of GTA games necessarily are!
-
My biggest downfall was not realising they wouldn't be purchasable post even - got a fair chunk of creds I would have dropped on them! My mate also hates me as I told her to wait before buying a skin but she didn't do it during the event and now is sadtings. I did say to buy during, but I'll admit I always said I expected them all to be purchasable afterwards too! Anyway all of this is getting off the most importantly point I forgot to make with my previous post @Fierce_LiNk @Eenuh it's only £25 at Game!! Go buy eeeet!

I 'started' with the Gameboy and SML - my cousins had one and we'd play it all the time when we saw each other. All I wanted to do as a kid was play games iirc lol. Then my real, own journey, started with a SNES at Xmas around 1992/93; my mum had taken us all out separately for xmas treats on diff days and being youngest I was the last - then I remember getting home and seeing my brother, sister, some family friends(grrr) all playing with/setting up a brand new SNES with the Super Scope 6! I remember feeling slightly gutted that this had been opened and setup without me(tbh not even sure why as I think it was before xmas day) but that was where my journey really started. Can't recall the first game we had after Super Scope 6, but the next one I can recall the best is SMW. Few Christmases after my parents 'got my sister' a Gameboy with Kirbys and that essentially became collective/for sharing between us all. With both a SNES and GameBoy under my belt I was set upon the path of becoming the massive nerd I am now!

Tbh I'd say jump in now at that price. How much more are you going to save in Black Friday, really? Not to mention you could literally walk into a shop today, buy it, and be playing with us this evening*. I'm not sure how long I've owned the game so far, but checking my career profile quick I've already gotten ~85ish hours out of it and I honestly don't see myself stopping any time soon. In unrelated news for those aware of the halloween boxes I bought...I've basically got fuck all! No decent halloween skins at least anyway, I am dissappoint *I may not actually be on this evening or tomorrow but definitely will be on a bit later this week!

None of those are systems manufacturers and hence I think you know they're irrelevant to the point.
-
Wow, for the man who's always telling people they're 'negative' about Nintendo you sure don't hold out much hope for them being able to survive on more than just a few titles. Exactly what's wrong with everything right now Personally, I've got much more faith in them. I think launching with your big titles(especially given time since their last one) is sensible to get the system sold and installed; to then garner further support for it.
-
Can't promise I'm the best talent to have but if you're on and need a 6th man just hit me up on PSN or Whatsapp. I tend to play a lot with a couple mates so may not always join as sometimes there'll be 5 of us on, but if you're short of people I'll either bring one or two with me or just abandon them for you :p Remember my rank is terrible tho - something like 1800 now possibly. The plus side is that if I'm with you and CAN compete then I might help by bringing you some scrub competition to roll
-
My advice - budget big and go small for a second-hand if it's just the one or two games you're after; then you can put the savings toward the Switch next year
-
You guys are joking right? Why wouldn't you want their biggest franchises there with the system on Day 1?!? It'll shift units AND give you an excellent lead-in to the system! Didn't the N64 launch with at least SM64 and MK64? Didn't the GC launch with Melee? Some of their biggest/most widely appreciated games to date, no? Did it do any harm? If they're not going to launch with big hitters then it's just going to be an exact representation to me that Nintendo haven't learned or changed anything up. BotW will not do as well to shift the system as people think - especially given the number of already burned WiiU owners out there. I'm not saying people won't buy Zelda mind, but I am saying that many probably won't buy the system FOR BotW. It's the TP route but it won't be the same because the WiiU's already put them at a disadvantaged start imo.
