True. But at least with the way things are now (regardless of physical or digital) as long as the hardware survives, the games and their patches do as well. With something like Stadia the consumer doesn’t have ownership of the games or the hardware! Whenever Google or a developer decide to pull the plug, that’s it.

Here’s hoping this really will be rad. Off to a good start with the 80s vibe/soundtrack.

New trailer: I neeeeeed this!

So I really don't know what to make of this. On the one hand (if it truly does work as intended) it's an incredible technical achievement and very clever. But it's also... kind of terrible... and actually a bit scary. I mean if this were to take off in a big way, well, it pretty much feels like the beginning of the end for the video game industry we all know and love. And although we've known that this type of all-digital future was inevitable, seeing it start to materialise like this is still kind of jarring. When Dylan Cuthbert appeared on the stage I was once again reminded of what happened to The Tomorrow Children and how Sony just one day decided to delete it. A game that never had a physical release, was only playable online, completely wiped from existence! What's to stop that kind of thing from happening with titles on Stadia? Nothing at all, that's what. Game preservation is basically completely down the toilet once we reach this point, and that is not cool at all. Anyway, it's all very intriguing and I'm interested in exactly how Google plan to handle the business side of things, whether it'll be purely a subscription service or if games can be purchased individually. I'm guessing it'll require both though, similar to how all the console makers now charge separately for online play. I suppose we'll find out at E3.

Duuuuuuuude! You don't know what you're missing... Nothing at all like that. But it is good.

Where the Mystical Ninja Collection at!?
-
Well, if I wasn't currently playing through Guacamelee 2 right now I'd probably join you, but yeah... definitely want to finish that before I start something else. I did very much enjoy the first Blaster Master Zero on Switch though, so this is on the watch list. The first game had some awesome HD Rumble implementation, so I hope they make good use of it in this one too.

Nindies Showcase Spring 2019 - 20/03, 4pm UK time

I know, right? Get the feeling that the success of Sonic Mania might have been very influential here. But yeah, great stuff if it means potential for more of this kind of thing going forward. Get those franchises that Nintendo don’t want to revisit themselves in the hands of developers that most certainly do! With proper curation and control it should be win-win for everyone. -

I gave the original a go, just didn’t (or rather, couldn’t) finish it. Hopefully this version will be more playable to me, it’s certainly going to look and sound better at least. Pretty amazing just how open Nintendo have become with their IP though. -

Yeah, I’m very happy about this too seeing as I never got around to it on PC. -

Hoping this will contain something new from My Friend Pedro and Untitled Goose Game. -
Not a physical deal, but the game + DLC bundle for Guacamelee! 2 is on sale in the eShop at the moment for just over 13 quid. Already put a few hours into it, and it is great! Well worth picking up.

Fantastic (but very technical) analysis of the music on Mount Wario: The amount of work that went into the soundtrack for MK8 is just extraordinary.

Vid about the Judgment debacle: I had no idea it had also happened before with the actor that played Tanimura in Yakuza 4! I'm guessing they will eventually do the same with Judgment and just modify the character's appearance/voice, will probably take a while though. Interesting stuff.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread

Let's Smash Bro! Or, you know... do creepy synchronised taunts. -
Started playing StarTropics, it’s enjoyable but the controls will definitely take some getting used to. The way changing direction lags like that is really unusual. I’m liking pretty much everything else though, and it’s a strange feeling to be playing a Nintendo developed NES game for the very first time in 2019. Did anyone here actually play this game back in the day?

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp ( Mobile Game. Out Late Nov )
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
There have been some more interesting additions to this recently, including a Happy Home Designer-esque mini-game. It's a very simplified version of that though, which seems designed more than anything to encourage the purchase of fortune cookies. But yeah, what's interesting are the rewards it unlocks, the ability to craft the Golden furniture items specifically. The requirements to craft this stuff are just crazy! Like hundreds of materials, lots of rare items and an insane amount of bells. It all gives me the impression that these are being implemented as final goals for Pocket Camp, and that maybe the updates will be coming to an end soon, or perhaps they even intend to discontinue it, similar to Miitomo. I wonder if the plan could be to end the service to coincide with the release of the Switch version... What do people reckon, would it make sense to have Pocket Camp and Switch AC coexist? -
Nice. Hopefully another "proper" MH game rather than a spin-off. I'd still like to see the remaining DLC for Generations Ultimate too, but it looks like Capcom aren't interested in making it available for some reason.

Should be sometime this week apparently. I'm still annoyed I didn't manage a win during the event. Got lots of 3rd and 2nd places too, which makes it even worse. Anyway, good luck to you, Ike and any other N-E peeps that managed it.

Sweet setup, lostmario. Cable management must be a bit of a nightmare though. I keep planning to do something similar to this, but alas all of my retro consoles and CRT are still in storage...

Oh yeah, I’d not thought about it like that. Here’s hoping then. Be good if it was though... Suddenly Bananas = Suddenly vomit.

Very intriguing announcement. Going to be a shame if “VR” on Switch remains exclusive to LABO, but I’m guessing it probably will. If they somehow got it working with other games though... Imagine Mario Kart 8 + Toy-Con steering wheel + VR!

Oh man, Smash Run was great. Spent lots of time playing it on 3DS. The Wii U alternative mode (board game whatever) was absolutely shocking in comparison. So yeah, if they’re bringing more stuff back then that would definitely be another good choice. Well, it’ll be the very first stage I recreate if we do indeed get a builder with similar tools, so hopefully it’ll also still be possible to share stages over the internet too. Can’t remember for sure now, but was it done via Miiverse before?
