2 new additions to my diary, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water and Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash. Project Zero was a game that I was really expecting to enjoy after seeing it on the Treehouse Live vids at E3, but it actually ended up being quite the disappointment. I just found the pace of the game so unbelievably slow and the character animations for opening doors and picking up items were simply ridiculous. For those that aren't aware, the reason for this slow movement (when collecting items at least) is a gameplay mechanic whereby a ghost hand will occasionally try to grab you as you're moving toward the item, so they try to build tension as the character is leaning in to grab whatever it may be. But there are a lot of items/notes to pick up in this game, and even more doors to open, so let's just say it gets old real quick. Think my final playtime was somewhere around 12-15 hours, and it genuinely feels like 50% of that time was spent just picking up items and opening doors! And then there's the atrocious chapters involving...

Yeah, Mario Kart, Rhythm Tenkogu, WarioWare and pretty much any classic NES/SNES artwork will get me I reckon. Have to say I've not really been into themes all that much either, haven't purchased any at least, well apart from 2 of the Club Nintendo exclusive ones that went up on the Stars Catalouge. I also don't tend to spend much time on the home screen, actually have all my stuff setup on a single screen to streamline the process even more. I do love the fact you can put badges on folders though, that will probably be the main thing I do with them.

Will this game require an EA account to play? Was going to check out the beta, but when hit with a wall of text and the requirement of an EA account, I was like yeah... no. Not a fan of that kind of stuff/EA in general.

Dunno, just seems ridiculous when there's no new content anyway. As for free plays, I got 2 today. The one for the Splatoon badges and another for reaching 10 dummy badges. It's already pretty clear that the practice machine isn't going to be super generous with free plays though.
-
The worst thing about this for me is definitely how long it takes to start up. Well over a minute every time, even if there are no new badges available! Really don't understand why this has such a long initial load time in that case, what the hell is it doing?!
-
Meh. Like @Grazza, I give up trying to understand this stuff. It's clear this way of thinking is here to stay (if anything it's going to get much worse as aspects of Western society continue to regress) so yeah... I look forward to not even being able to choose a gender in the next Xenoblade.

So good. :awesome: Wish it was out this month though (i.e. right now! ), as December is already jam-packed.

Managed to get 10 unique badges in total from the initial 5 free plays (plus 2 extra free plays I got from the practice game), pretty happy with that. None of the badges currently available really appeal enough to make me pay REAL money though... yet. Where the Mario Kart, Rhythm Tengoku, Nintendo consoles and Wario Ware Badges at? Anyway, will definitely be checking this game out on a daily basis.

Well, I wasn't exactly blown away by this direct, but still very happy to see them return. I think Pokémon Picross was actually the highlight for me! Badge Arcade would've been up there too (if we didn't find out about it before the ND ) and FAST Racing Neo continues to look absolutely rad. :awesome: I'm another one that wasn't at all impressed with the look of Twilight Princess HD. Actually thought the footage first shown was the original version, and was expecting it to then transition to HD. After a few moments I realised... Oh, this is it. The brief glimpse of Zelda Wii U looked amazing though. Shame there was no mention of Rhythm Tengoku 3DS, or Flipnote Studio 3D. But nice to see another newcomer trailer for Smash, even though it's not a character that particularly excites me. Hopefully December's Smash Direct will include something I can get hyped for.

Woo! Triple GP win!

I couldn't get into Grow Home at all. The screen tearing (which I'm usually not too fused by) was really off-putting, and having to re-climb the vine after falling got pretty dull too. Guacamelee is great, you should definitely check it out. Probably an easy plat for you as well, seeing as I got it.

Looking at your trophy list there's quite a few PS+ titles you don't appear to have played which are worth checking out: The Swapper Apotheon Yakuza 4 Rogue Legacy OlliOlli 2 Papo & Yo Hohokum Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition Super Time Force Ultra : peace:

Nice! Is there going to be a Japanese one too?

Interesting addition to the latest patch:

Man, this game is bombing big style. Shame, as it's not actually a bad game, I'm still enjoying it anyway. Up to the 5th world now. It's definitely getting trickier to collect everything in a single run, so will be replaying stages for that (and to collect the outfits). Have got my Chibi-Robo amiibo up to Level 4 now too, so can obtain rarer figures from the capsule machine. Don't think I'll be able to complete that collection though, as some are locked to amiibo.

Finally!! Looking forward to building some custom themes!

I just cleared World 3 and therefore experienced the Chibi-Submarine today. To be honest I thought that stage with the submarine was OK. Sure it's super sloooooow, and having to wait for the correct mines to appear is a bit weird, but I actually found it kind of relaxing. Do agree that it didn't really work for the boss battle though... BTW, did you not like any of the vehicle stages? I think the skate and wakeboard ones are pretty rad. I'm also really loving those little "grab all the coins" bonus rooms! Despite not being particularly challenging, there's just something about them. I think it's because I find it so satisfying to line up the perfect Zip Lash and collect a row of coins/items in the process! The occasional slowdown when you bounce Chibi-Robo's plug off several surfaces makes it even more enjoyable. As does using the L Button to reel in the cord even faster.

I got my copy yesterday and have played through the first world, I'm actually really enjoying it so far! Wasn't expecting much from this at all, and do agree with a lot of the issues @Hero\-of\-Time mentioned above. However, the charm of Chibi-Robo, the music (some of which is amazing ) and the zany vibe that skip always feature in their games has been keeping a smile on my face. A lot of weird/quirky design choices in this one though for sure. Luckily my tolerance for that kind of stuff is pretty high, but yeah, this is definitely going to be a marmite game. Really hope it does well enough so that we can get to see more of Chibi-Robo in the future though, such a great character.

Yeah, Little Big Planet is way more complicated than Super Mario Maker, as a result it's possible to do some incredible stuff with it, but the time/patience required to do so is obviously much greater too. I never actually ended up making much in LBP or LBP3 due to just how complex and time consuming the process is. Had I got the chance to play it 15 or 20 years ago I probably would've really got into it and made loads of stuff, but these days something like SMM is much more appealing to me, due to just how straightforward and quick the creation process is.

Vote: Which was your favorite Nintendo console/handheld?
RedShell replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's pretty close between the SNES and N64 for me (have lots of fond memories from both ) but were it not for the SNES and certain games I experienced on that system at the time, well I probably wouldn't be here posting this right now. And actually, to this day I still prefer a lot of the SNES versions of franchises that appeared on both of those systems, only exceptions being Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time: F-Zero > F-Zero X Super Mario Kart > Mario Kart 64 Pilotwings > Pilotwings 64 Starwing > Lylat Wars Donkey Kong Country > Donkey Kong 64 Super Mario 64 > Super Mario World Ocarina of Time > A Link to the Past So yeah, it had to be SNES for me. But... -
Golden Joysticks 2015 - Game of the Year
RedShell replied to Jimbob's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'd say Splatoon was far more innovative, as it essentially reinvents a genre. To be fair (despite having played through and loving GTA V on PS3) I've not played the new version with first person mode. But it still seems weird to me how that could be seen as innovation of the year. -

Wow... -
I've got back into it a bit recently, but it seems I can no longer play this game properly at all! (Not that I was ever that good to begin with ).

That would've made a lot more sense if it was tonight.
