Man, this game is bombing big style. Shame, as it's not actually a bad game, I'm still enjoying it anyway. Up to the 5th world now. It's definitely getting trickier to collect everything in a single run, so will be replaying stages for that (and to collect the outfits). Have got my Chibi-Robo amiibo up to Level 4 now too, so can obtain rarer figures from the capsule machine. Don't think I'll be able to complete that collection though, as some are locked to amiibo.

Finally!! Looking forward to building some custom themes!

I just cleared World 3 and therefore experienced the Chibi-Submarine today. To be honest I thought that stage with the submarine was OK. Sure it's super sloooooow, and having to wait for the correct mines to appear is a bit weird, but I actually found it kind of relaxing. Do agree that it didn't really work for the boss battle though... BTW, did you not like any of the vehicle stages? I think the skate and wakeboard ones are pretty rad. I'm also really loving those little "grab all the coins" bonus rooms! Despite not being particularly challenging, there's just something about them. I think it's because I find it so satisfying to line up the perfect Zip Lash and collect a row of coins/items in the process! The occasional slowdown when you bounce Chibi-Robo's plug off several surfaces makes it even more enjoyable. As does using the L Button to reel in the cord even faster.

I got my copy yesterday and have played through the first world, I'm actually really enjoying it so far! Wasn't expecting much from this at all, and do agree with a lot of the issues @Hero\-of\-Time mentioned above. However, the charm of Chibi-Robo, the music (some of which is amazing ) and the zany vibe that skip always feature in their games has been keeping a smile on my face. A lot of weird/quirky design choices in this one though for sure. Luckily my tolerance for that kind of stuff is pretty high, but yeah, this is definitely going to be a marmite game. Really hope it does well enough so that we can get to see more of Chibi-Robo in the future though, such a great character.

Yeah, Little Big Planet is way more complicated than Super Mario Maker, as a result it's possible to do some incredible stuff with it, but the time/patience required to do so is obviously much greater too. I never actually ended up making much in LBP or LBP3 due to just how complex and time consuming the process is. Had I got the chance to play it 15 or 20 years ago I probably would've really got into it and made loads of stuff, but these days something like SMM is much more appealing to me, due to just how straightforward and quick the creation process is.

Vote: Which was your favorite Nintendo console/handheld?
RedShell replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's pretty close between the SNES and N64 for me (have lots of fond memories from both ) but were it not for the SNES and certain games I experienced on that system at the time, well I probably wouldn't be here posting this right now. And actually, to this day I still prefer a lot of the SNES versions of franchises that appeared on both of those systems, only exceptions being Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time: F-Zero > F-Zero X Super Mario Kart > Mario Kart 64 Pilotwings > Pilotwings 64 Starwing > Lylat Wars Donkey Kong Country > Donkey Kong 64 Super Mario 64 > Super Mario World Ocarina of Time > A Link to the Past So yeah, it had to be SNES for me. Golden Joysticks 2015 - Game of the Year
RedShell replied to Jimbob's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'd say Splatoon was far more innovative, as it essentially reinvents a genre. To be fair (despite having played through and loving GTA V on PS3) I've not played the new version with first person mode. But it still seems weird to me how that could be seen as innovation of the year. -

Wow... -
I've got back into it a bit recently, but it seems I can no longer play this game properly at all! (Not that I was ever that good to begin with ).
-
That would've made a lot more sense if it was tonight.

Well, this is still on every game box: Seriously though, I don't think the quality has gone, just that they seem to be much less focused these days. The huge success of Wii and DS appears to have left Nintendo in a state of confusion, and it's as if they don't know who they're targeting anymore. Is it the casual market? Is it the hardcore/old-school Nintendo fans? They're not really doing a good job of catering for either at the moment. And then there's stuff like amiibo and the QoL projects, plus the upcoming foray into the mobile gaming space. It's not surprising everything has gone a bit wonky, with so much different stuff going on. I kind of wish they would just drop everything else and focus 100% on traditional gaming. An unrealistic idea as they're obviously struggling in that area at the moment, hence the expansion into new areas of business. But yeah, I definitely don't think there's any problem with the quality of their games, but rather the quantity. The droughts on 3DS and Wii U have been horrendous and incredibly damaging to the image of both of those systems. But at the same time, there isn't really anything that Nintendo can do to rectify that now. Just have to hope they've learnt from what went down with the 3DS and Wii U and have managed to sort it out for the next systems.

Urge to buy... fading...

Good games last night. Hadn't played Mirror Mode in ages, forgot how much it could mess you up.
-
Seriously, how the fuck is that even possible? Creating 3D models is difficult enough with a mouse/tablet, but building something like that... from scratch... with nothing but a DS4?! One thing's for certain, they picked the perfect name for this title, because it really doesn't seem like it can be real.
-
Nope. But having just seen what type of game it is, I don't reckon it'll be my cup of tea anyway.
-
Huh, just 2 games? Oh right! They're just the PS4 titles. Not really clued-up on either of those though, they any good?
-
You're right (I hope ), and The Tomorrow Children (I hope once again ).Man, whether I get Mario Tennis or not, November/December is going to be crazy! Nothing new there though, ey?
-
Yeah, and that stuff is going to mix things up quite a bit.I'm still not even used to the standard game! Just the distance trophy to go?

Nintendo & DeNA Business Agreement - Nintendo on Smartphones
RedShell replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Ah, of course! I was just thinking about this purely as a game and so couldn't understand why it'd take so long to be ready. :p -
Yeah, I imagine you'll be well into Battlefront by then. And I'm also thinking that if Simply Games are on the ball, I could be rocking JC3 at the end of November! Which would make playing this game very difficult indeed.
-
So how many peeps are definitely planning to pick this game up at launch? Just wondering how active the online play will be, because it's obviously not looking good on the single player front. I'm still very much undecided.

Interesting first project. Not exactly what I was expecting or hoping for, but I do recon it could be quite successful, especially in Japan. Very surprised that it's delayed until March though. Doesn't seem like the most ambitious thing ever, and obviously reuses pre-existing assets from Tomodachi Life... -
Ok, but what about Flipnote Studio 3D? Not that anyone probably cares, besides @M_rock and myself.

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (30th Oct)
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, I've just played through the first few chapters. Not massively impressed so far though, if I had to sum this game up in one word at the moment, it'd be slow. I know the idea is to create atmosphere, build tension and what have you, but seriously, who the hell opens doors or picks stuff up like that? It's actually creating the opposite of the desired effect, and just making me laugh instead. Game is also very old-school both visually and control-wise, got a bit of a fifth-generation vibe to it. I don't really mind that though (quite like it actually ) but I imagine some people will find it unbearable. But yeah, pretty sure this will grow on me, already has a little bit. I just hope the pace picks up slightly.
