The N-Europe Super Smash Bros Anniversary Tourney Thread
RedShell replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, it went well for having such a reduced preparation phase though. Hopefully we'd be able to get more people involved if there's another, it's criminal how overlooked Smash Bros. has become on here, as it's such a fantastic online multiplayer game. I understood people going off Brawl due to its online performance, but this version plays so smoothly online it deserves to be played more. BTW, Dcubed, please send me your race to the finish custom stage, would like to play that in local multiplayer over Christmas. -
Well, the servers appear to have stabilised. However, this also means that the some of the long load times weren't due to connection problems. Yeah, I did one of the helicopter challenges and the load time for it was atrocious! Must have been close to the 3 minute mark. Yet loading other challenges, or just fast traveling to different locations on the map took a matter of seconds. So weird. Anyway, I unlocked the booster C4 yesterday! As seen in the vid that was posted before. Lots of fun to be had with that upgrade. I used the tether to flip a car on its side, and then attached some booster C4 to the underside. Flipped it back over, activated the C4, and sure enough it lifted the car off the ground! Not very high unfortunately, but it looks like they get an extra upgrade later on, so hopefully it'll be possible to make cars into full-on rockets!

Yeah, I'm still not sure how much I'll be playing this. It's the same old end of year cram 'em all in to November/December BS. It's particularly bad this year though, with so many of the games I'm interested in being super lengthy titles. If I was smart I'd just hold off buying some of these games for next year... but I'm not.
-
Yeah, it's an ambitious project though for what I'm assuming is a pretty small team (no idea how big Q-Games are ) in which case I wouldn't be surprised if it did slip to 2016

Classic. If that game remains cheap (and is still being sold) next year, then I'll probably give it a go myself. That's a good idea. :awesome: Pretty sure the majority of games I've played this year are actually PS+ titles!

You could always just get something like this. Still probably not worth it just for quicker load times, but a better deal than 50 quid.

Yeah, I always think the same every time I go back to this game, it's just so much fun. Whoa, that was some pretty shocking additional commentary towards the end of my 2nd match with nekunando! Major kudos to you guys for keeping composed after that. Anyway, great job with this tourney @Glen\-i for winning the Crazy Smash, although it could've easily gone either way with that final. Very cool idea though Dcubed. BTW, Glen-i, I was surprised to see you escape Baby Face so early on! It's usually difficult to do even at 999%! And the way you got back in was even more impressive. :awesome: There's actually a cannon at the top of Baby Face, specifically for that. I was cracking up during that match, as I pretty much couldn't move with R.O.B. because of his size. Is there going to be a 2nd year anniversary tourney? If so, sign me up! : peace: -

Right back at ya man, that was crazy! -
Which system you playing on? Hope the servers are playing ball anyway, have fun!

It's the way that old man doesn't even react until the 4th bomb is placed on his groin that always gets me. We need that vid on the new page: I've not spent too much time messing about with the civilian characters/wildlife yet, but it's inevitable. Did tether a beach ball to someones head though, which was pretty amusing.

Guacamelee! I went back to Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash recently and fully completed the game, collecting all badges (which unlocks the sound test ) all snacks, and all of Cheebo's adorable outfits. Didn't realize that there was also an extra world exclusive to the amiibo! Took the completion percentage up to 120. Really makes me laugh how stupidly difficult that is, 1 shot from pretty much any distance/weapon and you're dead. Meanwhile enemies can survive seemingly endless gunshots at point-blank range. Was planning to get the platinum trophy, but with Just Cause 3 having now arrived, I'll have to save that for another time.

Well, I've certainly not come across any screen tearing on PS4. As for frame rate, yeah, that can indeed take quite a hit at times. But it's usually only when there's a lot going on, and given the scale of the game I'm totally cool with that. Load times are an interesting one, as it seems very random. Some have speculated that it's due to the problems maintaining connection with the server, and I think that might be right, as the longer load times I've experienced always seem to be accompanied by the connection thing. But yeah, to give an example of how random they can be, I've sat through loading times that are a few minutes long, and some that are around 10 seconds. I guess we won't know for sure until the severs are stable. By far the worst thing about the game is this requirement to be connected online. It's a single player game, so it really doesn't make sense. Hope the devs patch in a proper offline mode. Anyway, I couldn't resist playing more again yesterday, despite the connection bollocks. The game is way too much fun! Some of the explosions are just so spectacular I'm left staring in awe at the TV screen! And the fireworks display you get when liberating an area is soooo rewarding. :awesome: Looking forward to some nice uninterrupted sessions on this soon. BTW, everyone should check this vid out, the last parts in particular had me absolutely crying my eyes out with laughter. *EDIT* LOL, beaten by @Hero\-of\-Time. Vid is so good it should be posted twice though.

Congrats @Glen\-i and @Ugh first aid for providing excellent commentary throughout in addition to playing - and deliberately jumping off the stage - well.Absolutely. You lot are super entertaining. Does the stream not get recorded on Twitch though? I wasn't able to watch while playing (obviously ) so it'd be fun to hear what the commentary was like during my games. I actually did see the end of one of them (which was really weird ) as there was quite a long delay on the stream. Hehehe! Cheers. Yeah, I do love that hat. Cannot wait for the Crazy Smash!! As you've all probably noticed by my foolish character switching and erratic playstyle, I enjoy the game most when it's at it's craziest. Win or lose, it's all about the mayhem for me. -

Well, I improved on yesterday's performance. Good games, Glen-i. : peace: -
I got some badges for free today, and by that I don't mean via a free play, I mean they literally just fell out of the machine! Yeah, I was just flicking between the catchers and a couple of badges suddenly dropped. Mr Bunny was like "we're going to go out of business at this rate!" Nope, not experienced that. I have noticed that my 3DS lags a little on startup sometimes now though, since adding all these badges to it.

Great games everyone, cheers. : peace: And congrats to @The Mole. You scare me. It cut off during the last match (you know, the one where you picked the wrong type of stage ) must have been pretty close to the end though. Would like to continue but my eyes are literally on fire. Must recoup for the Fun Smash tomorrow. -
