  1. Time matches tonight at 8pm.
  2. Couple from me as well. I actually managed to fly over the glide pad on that Cheese Land one. Which isn't ideal.
  3. A reminder about tonight at 8pm. Don't forget to follow the theme. EDIT: For the new page.
  4. Yadda yadda yadda, broken clock, yadda yadda. Sooner or later Metroid Prime HD will happen. I can guarantee that it'll inevitably happen... In the next 10 years.
  5. To add on to this, audio cues through dialogue are how you know what the AI controlled party members are up to. Without it, you'd have more difficulty adapting to what's going on.
  6. You just know some people out there will be considering buying it just to get Dearly Beloved in Smash Ultimate.
  7. Well, seeing as you asked... Now, I've already finished Golden Wildfire (and the other two routes... Azure Gleam twice...) , so I won't state all of my thoughts, but...
  8. Yes, well. I hate this game. I hate it because I love it and I can't play it whenever because it's only in Arcades! The obvious thing of having even more songs then Curtain Call is bad enough, but when it has triple the amount of Mystic Quest songs and even more non FF games (*cough*Octopath Traveler*cough*). It's downright awful that I've played this! The controls are fun. Consisting of two buttons and two... Uh... other things that... Uh... Are kinda like turntables, but they're not. Uh, you kinda tilt them to hit the arrow notes (the ones that you swipe the touch screen on the 3DS games). Weird at first, but you get used to it. What I couldn't quite learn was quickly swapping hand position to hit double notes. Basically two notes at once, meaning you had to do 2 inputs at once. Muscle memory from so much 3DS play really messed with me here. Nothing practice can't fix, of course, but... Arcade only... These double notes really ramp up the difficulty though. Ultimate Difficulty kicked my butt way more then I'd expect! So, imagine my horror when I found out that some of the songs have a fourth difficulty! I'm almost certain it's impossible, unless you utilise the co-op mode. Slightly altered note sets to utilise one person on each half of the buttons, also very fun. But yeah. This is awesome, and I would pay top money for some kind of port. It wouldn't be quite the same on a traditional controller, but man, I need more Theatrhythm in my life! It's so good!
  9. It's definitely one I'll have to repeat in the future. I never expected having to account for the possibility of duplicates would end up making Smashdown have even more mind games! In hindsight, I did it for the funnies, but it probably would be better if I just did the standard character screen. I wish Miis were allowed in standard Smashdown...
  10. And here are the results! 1st @Glen-i 40 points 2nd @Dcubed 38 points 3rd @Ike 36 points 4th @BowserBasher 23 points I can't believe on the second last fight, with only 5 characters left, we all managed to avoid any duplicates! I'm starting to think we know each other's preferences too well...
  11. @Ike we have to finish with all of us as this character, they're the last one left! Might as well go the whole hog
  12. Ha! If you think we're gonna tell you who's left so you don't lose points, you clearly don't know us at all. Dcubed and I have already printed out two sheets, I highly recommend doing the same.
  13. Start of a new month next week, so it's time for a theme night! Thursday 1st September, 8pm Who likes 200cc? Who likes Mushrooms? Who likes mixing that with tracks where going crazy fast probably isn't the best idea? Shut up, you do! You don't have a choice!
  14. OK, it's a theme night. I'm expecting a 4 player session tonight, so this one is gonna be a little different. This one is called; Smashdown Online!? Have any of you tried Smashdown? It's a fun little mode where each character can only be used once. As soon as anyone picks a character, they're removed from the roster, barring anyone else from choosing them. The only problem is, there's no way to play it online. So I'm taking matters into my own hands. Yes, I could've easily got a screenshot of the normal character screen, but then it wouldn't say Smashdown at the top. You can't even tell it's edited anyway. Now, naturally, I can't make each character disappear as they're chosen, so there'll be some rules to encourage you lot. In general, you'll get points depending on your placing in each match. (1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point, 4th = 0 points) Once anyone picks a character, everyone is forbidden from choosing that character for the rest of the session. If you do pick a character that has already been picked, you will gain no points for that match, you'll also be penalised 2 points. If two people happen to pick the same character in one match, then only the player who places the highest will get any points. Anyone else with the same character will get nothing. For example, if 2 people pick Mario and subsequently place 2nd and 3rd, only the Mario who placed 2nd will get any points. Echo Fighters are counted as seperate characters, so if someone chooses Samus, you're still allowed to pick Dark Samus. Characters that act as alternate costumes (Alph, the Koopalings, etc.) do not count as seperate characters, so if someone picks Bowser Jr, that means all the Koopalings are forbidden as well. Changing the Mii that you play as also doesn't count as a separate character, once someone picks Mii Gunner, no-one else can pick them, even if you have a fancy Cuphead costume. However, Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner still count as 3 seperate characters. In the same vein, Pyra and Mythra count as one single character, they share the same square on the screen, so there. Don't choose Random, it's a stupid idea. Once there are less then 4 characters left, Smashdown ends. I will signal this by leaving the ring and saying "I expected nothing less". If there's still time, then we'll go back to a standard random selection, like most nights. I'll post the score and declare the winner later. Right, hopefully that's clear enough. If you can, I highly recommend printing off the above screenshot on to paper. 86 characters is a hell of a lot to keep track of, and having some way of crossing off each character as they're picked will save you from embarrassing penalties. The results screen after each match is the perfect time to get a pen and cross off who got picked. The stage and item pool will be the standard fare. As is the format. Format: 3 Stock, 10 minutes FS Meter: On Tonight, 8pm. Once 4 people are in the room, Smashdown will start. EDIT: Oh right, once someone presses start in the ring and the characters show up, absolutely no backing out of the ring by pressing B in order to change character. You will damn well commit to your poor life choices! Anyone trying to pull a fast one like that will incur the 2 point repeat character penalty.
  15. Don't mistake me, I'm not whining about you posting news. That's fine. Just stating what I think of it.
  16. I mean, of course not. It hasn't had a price drop in yonks! Raising it now would be beyond dumb, especially with it still churning out healthy profits.
  17. In regards to your last question, nah. If you don't like the gameplay aspect, you won't get much out of the endgame questing. And if you're going to go around fighting those really high levelled monsters, you'll have to start properly using all the mechanics available. Gems are super important for that. BTW, fun fact. In Definitive Edition, Reyn can effectively beat the hardest boss in the game by himself on level 1 if another character can set off a topple.
  18. Hey guys, you want Ash's Dragonite. Because you can get one now. Code is UM1N0KESH1N. Fair warning, it's atrocious. It runs Dragon Dance, despite half of it's moveset being special attacks, the nature lowers Sp. Atk for that extra layer of suckage, and it doesn't have it's hidden ability, which is the only reason Dragonite is even viable! I'm sure Game Freak are doing it on purpose. Even they're laughing at his incompetence!
  19. Yeah, but then you have to apply functions to those back buttons that won't screw over people without access to them. Too much hassle balancing that when it's not strictly required. Most of them can't be bothered to implement gyro aiming, so I wouldn't expect it to happen anytime soon.
  20. I've never watched the Back to the Future movies. If you want a recommendation for the future, might I suggest Dragonheart? One of my favourite movies, that. And while I know full well that it's quite by-the-books as far as plot goes, I don't care, because Sean Connery is a Dragon in it, and that's awesome! I believe that film is one of the first instances of a "CG actor". The studio that did Jurassic Park worked on it, so the CG holds up surprisingly well.
  21. Probably more of a "it's not standard" thing. Developers likely don't bother because not everyone will own a controller with back paddles, and it will take a lot of effort to account for that.
  22. I don't agree. If back paddles become a more standardised thing, I'd want them to completely replace the clicking sticks. They're uncomfortable, hard to utilise in hectic scenarios, and are likely the main reason why "stick drift" has become a lot more prominent recently. They suck. GameCube/Wii had the best control sticks, and it's a shame I have to deal with these flimsy things Switch has. I don't dare play Smash without a GC controller, far too risky.
  23. OK, I've not seen that one before. That's hilarious! You can't just smash together two genres and expect the audience to overlap. Then again, it is the WiiU, if it wasn't Smash, Mario Kart, or Splatoon, it needed all the help it could get.
  24. It's cool that they're trying something else with the rhythm genre, granted, rhythm rogue like was ridiculously unique, so I get how it moving away from that is a little disappointing. But there's clearly a Rhythm Heaven segment in that trailer, and more Rhythm Heaven is always good!
  25. I won't be able to make it tonight, so @BowserBasher will have to take hosting duties. Player's Choice tonight at 8pm.
