  1. Apples are only worth 100 bells on my island. Apples suck!
  2. Nice, I've accidentally tricked people into thinking my family had access to more channels when I was a kid!
  3. I only just learned that you can freeze those moving spike traps with the Ice Arrows from Games Done Quick a few days ago! So they're only mostly useless instead of completely useless! The best thing about the 3DS version is the gyro controls for aiming. Aiming in the N64 games is really stiff and the gyro is just a million times better!
  4. Oh man, you're not alone there. I was always more of a Cartoon Network kid. But they squandered their Smash Clone, so...
  5. That's how it is in Classic Mode, so there!
  6. I totally agree, that game outstayed it's welcome, and is likely why I'm not exactly keen on playing through it again.
  7. So, anyway. Getting back to what this thread is actually about... It's time for another theme night. This one is called; Glen's 9.9 Mountain You are no doubt aware of my goal of clearing Classic Mode on 9.9 intensity with every character. Because once isn't enough for me. Anyway, apart from the last Fighters Pass character, I'm down to the last 20 characters and this night is gonna be based around that! There's all sorts of different reasons why these lot are the ones giving me grief, whether it's being too recently released (Pyra & Kazuya), me being rubbish (Isabelle & Duck Hunt Duo), or having a downright sadistically difficult route (Zero Suit Samus & Terry). So you're all joining me in practicing with these characters that are still left behind on my file. Because they don't have a Classic Route (No idea why...) Miis are not allowed. Also, do not choose Random for your character selection. The stages here are limited to those that appear in the Classic Route of the 20 characters above. Stages that only show up in their Battlefield or FD versions don't count. (Obviously, actual Battlefield and FD are allowed) Custom Stages are not allowed for obvious reasons, so keep the stage selection set to Random, and my settings will take care of the rest. Items will be the standard set I use in most Smash sessions. Format: Stock (2 Lives, 5 minutes) FS Meter: Off I was considering only having 1 life, just like Classic Mode. But that will make matches way too short. So I compromised by having the same amount of lives in Smash 4's Classic Mode. 8pm tonight.
  8. Eh, Metroid kinda prides itself on providing fun games to speedrun (Except Metroid Prime, but those are much slower paced). So don't expect a lengthy game.
  9. I'm thinking that Helga might have been chosen over Arnold to bump up the amount of female characters in this game. That or someone on the development team suggested the idea that Helga would be more inclined to punch someone's face in. Which is right. You're probably spot on about this being developed by at least some 90's Nick fans. There's some very deep cuts here and I've already seen an image showing that the SpongeBob characters reference a large amount of episodes from that show in their movesets. Also, I swear Leonardo's spinning slash move is ripped straight from Turtles in Time. That might be a coincidence though.
  10. I mean, that's kinda similar to the same problem Smash has. It'd be weird if the main characters didn't get in. Of course, there's always exceptions (Min Min, Pyra, Reptar in this game), but generally, the main character has to be a priority, even if it is a bit boring. Still, because of the characters not shown in the trailer, but are on the box art, there's a real possibility that this game is hiding a few more characters (unlockables or DLC). Of course, this doesn't matter if the game is not good. Which is the problem with Cartoon Network's attempt at this. So if this is decent, that's a win in my books.
  11. Conker's Bad Fur Day is one of those cases where I absolutely have no regrets about finally playing through it a few years ago. And getting through especially difficult sections like the "It's War" chapter gave a real sense of accomplishment. But I never want to touch it again. It's very punishing if you mess up and if I were to play it again, I think it would just sour me on the game. Once is enough. That said, best ending in a Rare game ever! Very few games manage to hit as hard as Conker's final monologue and it's astonishing that it managed to pull that off so well in what is almost entirely, a very silly game.
  12. Then you'll like the fact that a silhouetted version of the box art pretty much confirms that at least 2 Avatar characters are in. (Aang and Korra, if I'm getting their names right) It also confirms Ren & Stimpy and CatDog.
  13. So Sadiq Khan is gonna keep the law enforced rule of mandatory mask wearing on all TfL services. Wondering what you lot make of that? Me? All I have to say is "Good". It's a level of protection that requires very little effort.
  14. Cheers! My mistake was forgetting that comic was actually about Crystal Chronicles. It still works for this. And it is totes worth playing Tetra's Trackers, a game so good, even Animal Crossing: New Horizons referenced it. (Exactly who was that reference for?)
  15. Bloody hell! So much for that Zelda record! Yep, easily a top 3 Gamecube multiplayer game! You haven't lived until you had the King of Red Lions shout excitable Japanese at you! The big problem is that, even ignoring the hassle of importing a Gamecube game, the setup for this requires a lot of stuff (GBA and the appropriate link cable for each player). (I can't find that comic about the setup faff... I tried googling it... You know, the one with that guy who moans that he has to pay three hookers to play the game with him)
  16. Whoever's idea it was to sidestep the thorny issue of beating up infants by making Reptar the Rugrats representation needs a raise! It's really clever! But yeah, shockingly quality roster, a developer that has some actual experience with Smash clones and an art style that actually looks somewhat consistent? PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale may just have yet another game making it look like a complete joke! Cautiously optimistic about this one.
  17. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to repay your kind notification with the realisation that there's a Razewing Rathalos Spirit that (currently) only unlocks if you have save data from Monster Hunter Stories 2. And no, the demo isn't good enough. It's fine for me, I plan on picking up that game, but if you're not, you're gonna have to wait until that enters normal rotation. (Probably when the final character is released)
  18. But people have been doing that sort of thing in Metroid long before Zero Mission. I don't buy that you lose tension with a self-imposed challenge. Many self-imposed challenges are done precisely to heighten the tension in a game. Pokémon is a fine example of this. Completely easy-going normally, but apply some Nuzlocke rules to yourself and every battle suddenly becomes terrifying. If there's a reasonable and easy way to maintain something from the original game, then put the effort in if you want it so bad.
  19. It's 5 seconds to run over to the Owl Statue after a cycle reset, hardly any effort at all!
  20. Then self-impose it? Who gives a toss if someone else doesn't do it? Also, you totally save-scum through Ace Attorney games because you don't want to have to go through the same thing again if you get a Game Over! (Everyone does it, don't lie!) How is this any different?
  21. You're getting dangerously close to dictating how games should be played. Don't turn into the Competitive Smash Melee community, that's a dark (souls) path you don't want to go down. There's an argument for this kind of thing when multiplayer is involved, but who cares when someone else is cheating? It doesn't affect your gameplay in any way! As an aside, how about added auto-save features to games that actually makes them harder? Because that's what happened with PMD: Rescue Team DX.
  22. Amazon (and I imagine other online stores) also sell digital copies of games, so you can buy something there, text whoever the code, and still keep it a surprise until the game starts downloading.
  23. On a side note, B2/W2 is the best Pokémon game.
  24. Just wading in to say that if you really wanted to maintain that 3-day cycle in Majora's Mask 3D, you could always just limit yourself to only saving at the Clock Town Owl Statue at the start of every cycle. That's what I did. The option is there. I also find it really weird that this is something that bothers you, seeing as the Owl Statue suspend save was already a QoL change because it didn't exist in the Japanese N64 version. Why is that change OK, but the 3DS hard saves not?
  25. If you're gonna make that argument, wouldn't the button controls be a more egregious case of that? Autosave is fine. If you really don't want to use it, reload a hard save from a Bird Statue if you Game Over.
