  1. Oh yeah, some Assist Trophies can be grabbed, and that includes moves like Bowser and Ganondorf's Side B. A general rule of thumb is that if the Assist Trophy moves like an actual character, it can be grabbed. They air dodge too if you try and pull off some combos.
  2. @RedShell Zelda isn't allowed
  3. Gonna shout out to @Dcubed, he helped me when I needed to link stuff together
  4. I mean, that's pretty standard for Mobile games.
  5. I'm actually a little surprised there was no Pokémon at E3 at all! So blame Nintendo.
  6. Oh boy, it's been 4 weeks since the Smash 64 theme! So it's time for another theme! This one is called: Stars of E3 Simple really, the focus will be on those Smashing characters that showed up in one way or another during Nintendo's E3 Direct on Tuesday. For the sake of not having half the roster, any Smash footage or the Treehouse afterwards doesn't count. These are the characters I found during that direct. As well as those lot, Miis are allowed as long as they are not wearing a costume that hides the fact that they are Miis (Cuphead, Bomberman, Sans, Vault Boy, etc.). Also, please refrain from choosing Random. Otherwise, you'll likely get a character that is not allowed. As you can tell, I turned on every stage that shares series with any character that appears above. Please choose Random for the stage. I have set it so that the random choice will be one of the listed stages, so you don't need to worry about that. As for @RedShell. You are allowed to use Custom Stages, but I must put some restrictions on you for tonight. Your stages must be distinctly based on one of the series the characters above come from. (So for example, your Miitopia stage is allowed, but your Game Builder Garage Stage is not) A stage based on E3 is also acceptable if you have made one. I also must ask you to only choose each stage once. Custom Stages have a tendency to overrule the random choice and we want as much of a variety going as possible. Format: Time (4 minutes) FS Meter: On I'll be opening the room at the usual time of 8pm.
  7. Well, how about Link to the Past? It's on the SNES Online App, it was the first time Zelda's Lullaby made an appearance and if you open up an online room, someone can come in, watch you play it and maybe give you pointers if you get lost or stuck?
  8. I think it's just a case of Tokyo in Shin Megami Tensei looking really desolate and barren, which is the point. SMT is a much grimmer game then Persona and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I can imagine newbies to the series will feel a similar way as @RedShell especially after seeing said other games. Still, I played the fourth one on the 3DS, it's a great little RPG with elements of Pokémon in it.
  9. Oh wow! I did not see that Anjanath kill from my angle! Amazing! And also really low! Anyway, gotta apologise @Mokong. Yeeahhhhh... That was me.
  10. It gets worse. Square have already done some FF6 style unification with that mobile game, Record Keeper! Like, if Pixel Remaster looked like that. I'd be fine with it. It's a good look. It's baffling!
  11. Midway Games were the ones who did the N64 game. That I know. And I'm pretty sure Nintendo published that. Considering that outside of Arcades, the Cruis'n series has never appeared on a non-Nintendo console, I'm gonna say Nintendo at least own part of it. Kinda like Pokémon. Not entirely certain on that, mind.
  12. Now I just feel bad for the Wii U...
  13. Gonna jump on @Julius and his extra categories, but here's my top 5 announcements. Age of Calamity: Zelda's Sick New Ride - Yes, I'm counting DLC here, you can't stop me! That trailer was a rollercoaster that only I was enjoying! A Guardian was not the character I was expecting (Was putting my money on Purah), but I dig it. There was a twinge of disappointment when I saw Link's new Flail toy. It's neat, but I was really wanting the Master Cycle. But wait! There it is! The Master Cycle! But if Link's already got a new weapon, then who...? Wait! It's Zelda!? OK, they somehow made the Master Cycle more hilarious then I could've imagined. Zelda continues to hog the fun weapons in this game! WarioWare: Get It Together! - It's new WarioWare! It's completely stupid! There's a Fire Emblem: Three Houses microgame about a tea session! WarioWare Gold is up there in the "Ninty's best voice work" category with Kid Icarus: Uprising, so I'm looking forward to hearing more full sentences from Wario! Mario Party Superstars - Super Mario Party is a great game, a great game hampered by being forced to use drifting Joy-Cons. That's not an issue anymore! So I'm all in! Even if it seems that the best Party character has been dropped for the sake of being accurate to the source material. Unless they replaced Boo with King Boo? That'd work. Mario Golf: Super Rush - I always had faith that the Golf Adventure aspect of the game was looking like a return to GB/GBA form. But seeing it here, it's great! I'm ready for some stupid golfing escapades with my stupid-voiced Mii as it kills a stupid sacred phoenix with the power of stupid golf! Kazuya in Smash - I'm not the biggest arcade fighting game fan. Which is why I like Smash. I'm always hyped for any new character, but there's always something special when that new character is from a series that's new to Smash. I'm quite surprised that it's Tekken, especially after Heihachi was Mii costume'd! My only experience with Tekken was messing around with adorable Dinosaur Gon in Tekken 3. Either way, Smash taught me how to Hadoken and how to Buster Wolf someone in the face, so I'm looking forward to becoming an ultimate Tekken master now. That said, if High School Love isn't a song here, I'll be very disappointed in Sakurai. Favourite Trailer - Kazuya in Smash - It's fun seeing the various Smash characters interact, and this trailer didn't disappoint in that regard. Seeing Kazuya just chuck loads of Nintendo characters into a volcano like that infamous Tekken scene was funny (Especially Min Min and her noodly arms complicating the matter). Then there's the gameplay which really captured the feel of Tekken, even the dramatic camera angles that happen when you grab someone. Bound to be loads of references that flew over my head, but it was still a good time. And of course, Kirby survives the volcano drop. You can't kill the most powerful being in video games with that pathetic attempt! Worst Trailer - Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin - Don't get me wrong. I certainly enjoyed this trailer, but not because it was any good. The memes that have come from this have had me cackling for the past few days. But yeah, that trailer was Terribad. @Julius already summed up why. Best Presentation - Nintendo - Normally, this question is where my bias shines, but this year? DUHHHHH! It's not even a contest! Microsoft and Devolver were the only ones who had decent showings this year, it was an incredibly low bar and Nintendo were already over it 15 minutes into their presentation! I don't even like Advance Wars and even I was blindsided by it's sudden appearance. There were some heavy hitters in there! Most Disappointing Presentation - Square Enix - Technically speaking, Capcom had far less to show, but at least they didn't throw middle fingers at long-time Final Fantasy fans! I swear, you'd think they were embarrassed by the first 6 FF games! Absolutely insulting! Greatest Presentation Moment - Devolver's in-between sections - I'll be honest, I don't watch Devolver for the games (Although Death's Door looks pretty great), they're the last bastion of fun at E3. I'm certainly a subscriber to Devolver MaxPass Plus, whether I actually wanted to be or not. Most Awkward Presentation Moment - N/A - I can't really choose a moment for this, nothing stood out to me, so just gonna skip that. Presentation Moment That Hit A Pet Peeve - No Forza Car on Microsoft's Stage - I always find it funny when that happens. Microsoft seem to be ditching it because of that. I want them to lean into it more and show that they can poke fun at themselves! Without that silly car, it's just "Oh, it's a Forza game... Yawn!" Most Disappointing Moment - Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters - Julius might not want to talk about it, but I bloody will! How effing tone-deaf do you have to be to mess up such an easy slam dunk of an announcement!? This "remaster" assumes that taking three SNES games and making them look worse qualifies as such! And even if you look at the NES titles. Two of them have already had lovely looking Remasters in the past. But no, instead we get whatever the hell this is! What is this crap!? When the GBA is outperforming you in 2021, that's proper embarrassing! And then for the cherry on top of the crap cake, they're individual purchases only available on Steam and Mobile phones! Those platforms already have 4 of those titles! Insulting! Biggest No-Shows - Sony - Self-explanatory, really. But given the standard of this year, maybe that was for the best. Overall E3 Score - 7/10 - Yeah, I guess that's kinda surprising. But I don't have much investment in most of the Non-Nintendo conferences, and Nintendo did very well. So I can overlook most of the nothing presentations anyway.
  14. Specifically, the DQ 8 Hero was stuck on the PS2 for a long time, which is why I went for that one. Nintendo only got that game recently on the 3DS. He's quite similar to Cloud in that regard. The other Heroes wouldn't work for this joke. The problem with Richter is that the game where he's the main protagonist isn't a PlayStation title. Sure, he's a supporting character in SotN, but Alucard is the hero of that title. Of course, it all depends on your viewpoint, so I wouldn't say you're wrong. That said, if we do get a certain bandicoot, I might be willing to stretch my views to reach that magic 8-player All-Star Battle Royale.
  15. Oooooh! Miitopia has some catchy music, so I'm in for that!
  16. Ah, I have it. Seeing as the sky plays a big part. They should call it Skyward Sword! ...What?
  17. Apparently, it's also available in Tekken 7, as well as being in that Taiko drum game (The title escapes me) on Switch. That's promising, shows that Namco are proud of it, which they should be. @Cube, yep. You're right, I've been steadily updating this joke every time we've gotten a more Sony orientated character. Unfortunately, there's only one more character left in this pass, so we can't reach the magic number. But I wouldn't object to having a certain 90's mascot to really twist that knife in!
  18. Everyone going hype over BotW2, while I'm here twiddling my thumbs, waiting to go on a silly motorcycle adventure with Zelda this Friday.
  19. Silly you, WiiU games can only be ported to Switch! (I still get to lord it over most people that I've actually played that Game & Watch game. It's great!)
  20. Calling it, Monolith Soft helped!
  21. If I had to choose one that I see as handling this best, it's Australia. Some will say that they were way too cautious, I say let their low death figures speak for themselves.
  22. Fine, you wanna be like that? Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar took 20 years.
  23. Nope, if anything, I want more checkpoints. Hate instant death in games with a health bar. Hated it in Samus Returns, will hate it in this. Also, as for your bolded, StarFox 2 took longer. It was shown in 1995.
  24. So, I just discovered this actual Tekken song! How am I only hearing this song now!? "I know, you love, choc-o-late ice cream!" "Let's go get some cheese-bur-gers and fries!" If this isn't one of the songs available in Smash, I will riot!
