I know that up to now game stores have had the new consoles set up so you can have a go, we've all seen the XBOX 360s running in your local stores, and in the past we've seen the same with Gamecubes, PS2s etc.

I'm just wondering what Nintendo will do with the Wii? Will the Wii mote mean that there will be no in-store demos playable for the general public?

I always think it's good to see the demo pods around the store as it gives people a taste of the new hardware and a feel for the games.

Game stated that they will have them in late october - early november, I think it was in a employee only leaflet making them aware of what to expect. Im not sure, best bet here is to see what Ashley says.

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to ste up demo pods cause of the Wii mote? They just attach them to the system, like they've done with the older consoles (and also did with other Wii setups at like E3 and the like). So I don't think that'll be a problem.

Not that we ever see a working Nintendo demo system in this city... =/

The reason i was asking was because of the Wii Mote and the nunchuck, it will be hard to attach them to the console and hence stop thieving little rats! I know that in both my local HMV and GAME stores the DS stylus disappeared a long time ago...

Lately when i have been going into GAMe and Gamestation the stands have been turned off. Only in HMV are they on..?

I can see them oing it, like with the stylus, a hard 'string type thing' attached to it. I put it like that cos string wouldnt be nice on the eye, and a metal chain wouldnt look nice either.

The stores I go to have their demo pods on, but with no controller connected. I expect they'll do the same with the Wii : no controllers. Which would be very stupid.

Well since there is nothing physical to plug in you could just buy a controller from the states and use it :heh:

You have to sync it, which requires opening the flap on the Wii. :heh:

or the button besides where the battery goes when you go to change them

You'll have to press it on the Wii as well so it knows which Wii to sync to.

They'll just do what they're doing at the Fusion tour, tie them onto the stand?

Yea, makes sense. They just need to get the stands in places like woolies and Boots.

Also, the GAME I go to don't have any demo stands. Just have Wii videos on all of their TVs.

Hmm I've somehow become a source of knowledge. Weird.

But I haven't heard anything, other than educated guesses we will.

Its quite simple actually. They'll only have a wiimote wired to a wii console. No nunchuck will be present because of security issues. Nintendo will only preview one handed control games such as wiisports. Games such as zelda, red steel will be previewed in video only.

At its sales conference in Dallas, Gamestop revealed that they will be the only retailer to have Wii kiosks set-up [this year?] as well as confirming that they are putting pre-orders for the Wii and PS3 on ice.

It’s unclear when exactly other retailers will obtain Wii demo units, although some online reports suggest that retail giant Wal-Mart will have them in Q1 2007. Most can agree that hands-on experience with the unique Wii controller is crucial to customers’ understanding of the console.

In addition, GameStop reiterated that it is still holding off on PS3 and Wii pre-orders until it has a better grasp of what supply and demand will be like. When the Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, the company took too many pre-orders, leaving pre-ordering customers 360-less and upset with the long lead-time.

GameStop president Steve Morgan said of the pre-order issue, “I think the lesson is caution and optimism at the same time."

Well, as I think the Wii may be a little bit of a misunderstood genius to the general public, I think demo pods or whatever we're calling them would be something that are really needed.

I reckon if the new play style is good, and the controls do make you enjoy the games more, this is where the public will get their first taste of it.

Although I have stated elsewhere that I'm a bit nervous about the road Nintendo have taken, IGN seem to love the new controls. I just hope that the public do.

I wouldn't worry about - Nintendo know what there doing they always have done - thinking out the box is Nintendo's speciality analogue sticks, shoulder buttons, rumble packs, etc. The others will copy they always do - helll look at playstation 3's half arsed attempt with their controller.

I have played many systems since the Atari VCS in the 70's and this is a real breath of fresh air just when I thought the games market was becoming stale Nintendo do it again - personally I haven't been as excited about a console in a long long time!

:D:bouncy: : peace:

Not according to matt c it was one or the other.

As usual your wrong ZeldaFreak - I wish you'd stop correcting everyone by giving wrong information its really irritating!

Matt actually says - theres an SD card slot and a synchro button which you use in conjunction with the wiimote. You flip open the back of the battery pack and theres a synchro button in there too - you press them both and your all lined up and ready to go - you only have to do it once.

Next time before you try to be a smartarse get your facts right - oooooooooh it makes me mad! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
