Thats all well and good but by getting a release near Christmas means good sales and a foot in the door while Sony are napping. Its not like its a shoddy launch, there are plenty of games their to keep everyone happy. As for the VC there would be the same amount in March whether they launched then or whether they launch now.

No they said there would be 30 titles at the end of 2006 for VC with 10 added every month after that

What is a MSX?

Plus Bomberman 94 :)

Msx is where the superior versions of metal gear and castlevania first appeared before they were ported onto the nes

basically, msx on wii is good news :)

Actually, both Metal Gear and Vampire Killer are really, really bad, and MSX is way inferior to NES. For example, it didn't even have enough power to have smooth side-scrolling. Instead you had horribly clunky scrolling, where 1/4 of the screen is updated each second. You can guess how easy it was to play Gradius with that kind of scrolling*.

Most games, like aforementioned Castlevania, Contra and Goonies, go even further and don't have scrolling AT ALL (instead you go from screen to screen). Metal Gear 2 is, in other hand, quite fun game and way better than Snake's Revenge ever was. But not because MSX would be more powerful than NES.

So wait, they've called it Wii because it's all about people playing together, bundled a multiplayer game with it and then given you one controller?

Brilliant logic their Nintendo.

at least its still much cheaper than ps3 though:D

... Of course it is, it's what, 1/20 of the power :hmm:

Yeah, that's pretty much what they did.

Although, you do get an extra Wiimote with WiiPlay. For multiplayer gaming, if need be.

i agree with you Wii should have retailed with 2 controllers-but then it'd cost 200 quid or more, then they'd be even more bitching and moaning.

they did the right thing but the controllers are a tad expensive and should be bundled together at least initially until other plug ins for the wii mote become available.

I would have preferred them to have launched with an extra controller, but that was probably just wishful thinking. Asking for WiiSports and an extra 'mote seems a bit greedy, imo.

I think 2 different bundles would have solve the problem. For me at least :p

Nintendo should really make a effort to drop the wiimote+nunchuck into the 40 euro limit...

The classic controller by it's turn is pretty cheap... I mean 15/19 euros for a controller with 2 joysticks and all? I'm quite happy about it.

Classic controller is much cheaper than i expected. However, the Wiimote and nunchuk were about the prices i expected them to be.

It would have been even better if they could have bundled the wiimote and nunchuk together, instead of buying them seperately.

Alltough I think $250 is a good price I think Nintendo should have bundled it with an extre wiimote. There is no need for Nintendo to earns money on every Wii sold. PS3 and 360 are sold at a loss.

The whole thing about the Wii giving them a profit for each unit sold is just because we have to pay for their profit:woops:

But now I know how much to save up for the launch.

Another thought for those complaining about the price.

So you wanted to pay £150 max for it. How many of you were going to buy WiiSports for £30? What price does that make it? £180!

Just did some calculating and the stuff that i'mg etting takes me up to £450...same price as a PS3. Thats a Wii, 3 extra controllers, 3 extra nunchucks, a classic controller, Zelda, Monkey Ball, Elebits (IT IS GONNA LAUNCH DAMMIT) and obviously WiiSports and WiiPlay with the console & Controllers respectively

In your face Sony...5 Games, complete set of Controllers and a Console for the price of your console

Actually, you'll only need to buy 2 extra controllers as WiiPlay will be coming with a controller.

What is a MSX?

I use the have an MSX (well, 2 to be more acurate). I recall they came out some time between the Commodore 64 era and the Amiga era, and at the same time as Amstrad's home computer.

They had a computer keyboard and you could load games using an audio tape player (ah those were the days, waiting 30 minutes or more for a game to load), but they also had a cartridge slot which not only meant fast and reliable loading times, but some cartridges had improved sound chips etc.

MSX was actually a standard, and many manufacturers made MSX machines. Whilst some were very similar, others had specialist hardware. For example, one of my MSX's was made by Yamaha, and it came with a dedicated sound chip and full size music keyboard, with programs for music writing\recording and sound creation.

Obviously, compared to today's machine, the games were quite basic, but a lot of them were quite fun. I'll be looking forward to playing the likes of Antartic Adventure and Pineappling again.

***Edit***

Just looked at that YouTube video and it's reminded my of so many 'great' games on the MSX - Yie Ar Kung-Fu, Knightmare, Comic Bakery, Nemesis, Salamander . . . . .
