Charlie Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I saw this last night and what a film it is. I loved every minute of it. Here's a IMDB review for you.. I was able to attend a premiere showing of this movie in North Carolina and was amazed again at how much more a movie can be than just "animation." This film focuses on a changed reality, a world where cars are the only life form and so we must suspend our own reality to enjoy this film. In the same flavor as the first Pixar films, we quickly accept a world where everything is a motorized vehicle that lives and acts like we do in our own world. The cars have experiences in life, desires that drive (sorry for that) them, and misunderstandings that are taken advantage of. My wife and I loved this movie and plan to see it again when it is in public release. I cherished all the nuances of the film and the attention to detail not seen in animations from other companies. For fans of all ages, this film is for you/ Go see it now!
Minihobbsch Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 This is one film I definately want to see, also Pirates of the Caribbean 2.
DiemetriX Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I'm looking forward to seeing this. I think it looks really cool. Good to see you liked it
rokhed00 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Meh, don't like CGI movies, don't know why but I just don't see the appeal of them.
demonmike04 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Meh, don't like CGI movies, don't know why but I just don't see the appeal of them. Its those goddam kids raping parents of their hard earned money, theres no appeal.
Hero-of-Time Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I was going to see it but then I seen the trailer for it and it looked turd. It looked more like a feel good movie rather than a laugh out loud comedy. IMO Pixar aint what they used to be, they havent made a LOL film since Toy Story 2 and I think Dreamworks have over took them at least in the comedy department.
Guest Stefkov Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I actually want to see this. i love cgi films. also cars by gary numan is a good song.
Eenuh Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I actually went to watch this some time ago. Didn't have anything else to watch and after reading a decent review, I decided to go and see it, even though my ex and I thought the trailer was crap. Plus, it's cars. With eyes and mouths and stuff. Surprisingly enough, I enjoyed the movie. A lot more than let's say, Superman Returns. Also loved the little part at the end of the credits. =3
BeerMonkey Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 saw a ad for this in the cinema (before pirates 2) and it didnt have the "must watch now" factor about it . prob will like but but will wait until dvd launch and grab it me thinks
Roostophe Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I actually want to see this. i love cgi films. also cars by gary numan is a good song. Interesting thing about Gary Numan is that he's a pop star, but he has a pilot's license. Imagine that. Cars slightly interests me, but I probably won't see it for years.
ZeldaFreak Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I would like to post my opinion, without being ripped on. Owen Wilson although great in comedy 'live' films, is absolutely crap at doing VA his voice is absolutely monotenus voice grates on you. As well most of the other VA is either OK or worse than average. However, there is an exception Larry The Cable guy who plays Mater has the right voice and can exaggerate and be serios if he wants to. On that I have to give it 1.5/5. A truely dreadful film
Ashley Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I want to see this film, but probably wont for a while. Always liked Pixar films. For now I'll do with my Cars keyring instead.
Minihobbsch Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I serisuly don't know why, but I loved CGI films since Finding Nemo and Shark Tale. So I hope this will be a thrill to see.
knightendo Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 a massive disappointment only once before have i walked out on a movie before it finished, that was "i still know what you did last summer", now cars too, about an hour in. i'm kinda depressed about it coz i was so looking forward to it too mater is funny, and the tractor-tipping scene was great, but i didn't even raise a smile at the rest of it, and usually with a good funny cartoon film i'm the one laughing the loudest lol, my laugh is uncontrollable when it hits right!! over the hedge was fantastic, this was awful... looking forward to the barnyard and hoodwinked though... and worth going to see the casino royale trailer on the big screen :D
Hero-of-Time Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Yeah I have heard alot of people saying Over the hedge is far better than this. I will check out Cars on dvd but most likely try and catch Over the Hedge at the cinema.

James Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Meh, don't like CGI movies, don't know why but I just don't see the appeal of them. See beyond the CGI.
Guest Jordan Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Its a shame though, The Incredibles was probably their best film in terms of story and characters. Moving to such a weird format of cars is far less appealing to alot of audiences...

Moving to such a weird format of cars is far less appealing to alot of audiences... really?the incredibles for character?they were just blatant rip-offs of the fantastic four.No toy story remains pixars best film and its sequal.then monsters inc, finding nemo, increidbles and finally the shite that was shark tale(but was that dreamworks?)and the wild!(eerrgh)
Shorty Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Toy Story was great, everything since has been slightly worse....
triforce_keeper Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Me and my dad are going to see this next week. We always go see the CGI films I think there great! We went to see over the hendge a few weeks back and I can honestly say it wasnt a HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA film. The only funny bits were when the mad squirrel came on. But have you noticed there is always a character in these films that make you laugh because they are either dumb, clumsy, hyperactive or some other thing. For example, Ice Age 2 Scrat and Ellie. Cars, the tractor thing. Over The Hedge, the hyper squirrel, etc.
Ashley Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 really?the incredibles for character?they were just blatant rip-offs of the fantastic four.No toy story remains pixars best film and its sequal.then monsters inc, finding nemo, increidbles and finally the shite that was shark tale(but was that dreamworks?)and the wild!(eerrgh) The superhero idea of four people as a team as so to speak is FFish, but these characters had...character. They were a family and had traits you would expect; insecure teenage girl, hyper young boy etc. If you look past their superpowers and at their actual personalities they were distinctive. And the Pixar films (not including shorts) to date; Toy Story, Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars. In that order I think.
