Indigo Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Everyone nitpicking over rankings and percentages, remember: it's a matter of opinion. You don't like it, go write your own damn magazine. Besides, we should all know Super Monkey Ball is a better game than Metroid Prime. It's not only common knowledge, but scientific fact. And it's just not the done thing to argue with science.

The Bard Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Here, here It's hear hear, you tool , and If you're cool like me, it's Hear ye Hear ye. Also, Monkey Ball doesn't hold a candle to Metroid Prime, The Main Game is great but it's a pile of shit when placed next to the godliness that is Prime. But Monkey Ball wins on the multiplayer front by default (and also cause Monkey Target is teh Sex.). Metroid > Monkey Ball. Fact.

Owen Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Read alot of it last night! Really great! Alot of the news were rumours i suppose! Espicially the one about the classic Nintendo controller with the two spring hinges thing, which you can press and two lines open up on the back....they have no-idea what it is and either do i!
ThePigMarcher Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I will probably try to pick this up just to give it a look , but , it would have to be absolutely outstanding to justify a regular purchase at that cover price.
That Guy Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I can't find it anywhere. I do like the Official Mag though, its pretty big and offers more DS stuff, so might just stick with that.
Patch Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/simpleratings.asp?rankings=y Metroid Prime is officially the third best game ever created in the history of mankind. 90%. Psssh.
The fish Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Assassin's Creed's exlusivivity to PS3 looking "shaky" Yes, it's so shaky that OXM ran a preveiw of it. Oh and Ubisoft confirmed it was coming out also on 360 and PC a while back.
Tellyn Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 That game rankings list shows that Nintendo have the highest calibre of games, because they have the most in the top ten. Ocarina of Time at number one, I wouldn't have it any other way. By the way, the Master Quest disc on the GameCube got a review of 82%, when they gave the Nintendo 64 one a 98% I think. What could be so bad about a straight port with no updates that causes them to drop the rating by 16%. The best game of all time has been dumped on.

Wasn't there longer load times (on the Master Quest disc) or am I going mad?
Tellyn Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I couldn't say, I never played it on the Nintendo 64. Do load times really count for 16% off of the greatest game of all time though?

Well apart from things like controls becoming better in the Wind Waker to drop the score slightly, I'm pretty sure they gave that to the Master Quest and not the actual OOT game. I do agree with what most have said in this thread, all of the changes to scores, for me, makes reviews redundant. Why should I believe a review if a few months later you are going to change it as if you made a mistake. Stick with Gamespot.

Fact. true and the only good monkey ball gamea are 1 and 2,adventure wasnt great and deluxe was horrific but multuplayer games last longer.I dont play prime cause i cleared it Well apart from things like controls becoming better in the Wind Waker to drop the score slightly, I'm pretty sure they gave that to the Master Quest and not the actual OOT game. stev2604 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 anyone in ireland get the magazine yet I got it today in porters, they have it in easons aswell. But its €8
knightendo Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 remember though this isn't NGC anymore, it's a brand new magazine starting from issue one all over again. it's ratings system is on a par with EDGE's stricter handling of scores, only this time represented through percentages. having star games being from 85% upwards instead of the usual 90% should show you that it is a completely different scoring system than normal single format magazines. i'll definitely be sticking with it, was jam packed full of goodness (though may wait for a different subscription gift as i have a wavebird). and the clicky button and the flaps on the classic controller aren't rumours. they may not know exactly what they are for, but the button and it's "flaps" exist, there were photos. they must be for something!
Drunken_Squirrel Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 It's definatley packed full. No space has been wasted. Very impressed.

conzer16 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Yeah i got it in Easons on O'Connell Street in Dublin. €8.60 they charged me....... Not a bad mar tbh, I like it! Better than ONM anyway!
KKOB Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 k thats it! im running out and getting it tomorrow-bot sure if i want RR 6 or Burnout for the 360 so i'll buy a mag instead to keep me going mwahahahaaaa

Forget what I said. Trust no one!!
Zell Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 When I think about buying a game I'm not 100% sure about, I usually consult NGC, IGN and Gamespot. I can never fully trust NGC's reviews of Nintendo games, Gamespot seem to give a very critical response (so I know it's godd if they give it a good score) and IGN give very detailed reviews as well. Gamespot can give some pretty harsh reviews: Super Mario Sunshine: 8.4 and Smash Bros something like 8.2! Lunacy!

I'd say, look over a variety of reviews like you said, because at the end of the day a review is just another guys opinion.
