I'd have much prefered a 1080 game. Especially with the winter release date of Wii.

I would have rathered excitebike as well but beggers cant be choosers, it looks pretty decient and we dont even know much about it so how can some of you say "it looks boring".

I said it looks boring cause it seems like an americans game, big trucks, high speeds, big air. Not my sort of thing.

I was skeptical the controller would be held this way.. I said it was stupid.

But they went and did it...

Oh how stupid of Nintendo to go against you!

I am looking forward to seeing what racing games are going to like using the controller this way.

I'm actually quite excited about this game. I think they chose the best possibly control method.

I might add, it's bluddy marvelous to see that every game we've seen so far has used the FHC in an authentic way with no decline in the gameplay department.

from CNN

"Excite Truck" – Imagine holding your TV remote control by its ends and pretending it's a steering wheel. Substitute the Wii controller and you've got an idea of how to control "Excite Truck". Driving's pretty easy. The real fun comes when you hit a hill and go sailing into the air. The object is to land with all four wheels on the ground. To do that you'll have to tilt the controller back and forth away from you to stabilize the truck. It's frenetic and fast-paced – and seemed to be everyone's favorite game. I agreed.

joystiq reactions...

Excite Truck was getting a lot of talk as we walked through the Nintendo booth this morning. In the demo you can only select one of two courses. I chose Mexico at the recommendation of the booth attendee. As you may know, the controller is held sideways for this one, vying to mimic a steering wheel style control. The most notable features of the game include a decent sense of speed, massive jumps, and the ability to control a solid landing by either pulling up or pushing down the Wii controller. Though I never got the steering down during the short demo, the game does a nice job at bringing back the traditional fun of Excite Bike in a 3D, motion sensing world.

In the video footage at Nintys confrence, did I notice part of the track fall away over a cliff face? Having to deal with the ground shifting around and dissapearing as you plummet towards it would be a superb game feature.

theres no reason for bikes not to be included in the full game. I'm sure they can race the same tracks but maybe with a different optimal route. Would give the game depth.

Simulating body lean would be cool on bikes.

I think nintendo what to be seen to be creating "new" games right now in the E3 spotlight.
