James_banned Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 so, again you have to press "up" to jump.... yeah, i wont be buying this in a rush. Are you being serious?
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 so, again you have to press "up" to jump.... You've never had to press "up" to jump. Let me introduce you to my friends the C buttons on the N64 controller and the X and Y buttons on the 'Cube controller. The replay option is a total surprise, but a good one! I'm just worried about the time limit. How do you decide which 3 minutes you want to record? It's not exactly a very long time, now, is it?
Guest Jordan Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Good lord, i can't believe people didn't know you can press buttons to jump. I know i always did.
James_banned Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Good lord, i can't believe people didn't know you can press buttons to jump. I know i always did. Yep it was so very much easier than pressing up.
Zelda_Rulez Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Although up still annoyed me sometimes when I was trying to do a tilt attack. :p
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 To be honest, I found the up-tilt jump both awkward, hard to use, and sometimes even annoying. It's almost impossible to do an upward aerial attack without double jumping (i.e. making an upward aerial attack after a single jump).
darksnowman Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I always press up to jump in Melee - I could never get the hang of using X and Y. I respect you for that Mike. Truth be told, if Smash Bros. could be played on the d-pad I'd probably be the same, but seeing as we're stuck using the joystick for movement it just doesn't feel right (for me) to push up on it to jump.
Hellfire Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 so, again you have to press "up" to jump.... yeah, i wont be buying this in a rush. yes.tdfjlkhfgjkl I'm actually laughing out loud. Literally. Ridiculous.
Retro_Link Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I always press up to jump in Melee.Same here!
darksnowman Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Heres another question: What button/s do you use to throw people? I always go for Z, does anyone use L/R + A to grab and throw opponents?
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Heres another question: What button/s do you use to throw people? I always go for Z, does anyone use L/R + A to grab and throw opponents? Nope, always Z. But that may change with Brawl, as the Nunchuk setup doesn't seem to have a decent grab button (if we assume C = jump and Z = shield).
Kurtle Squad Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I hate using up for jump it's really stupid and makes it more difficult to jump sideways and do quick side attacks. Had an idea whilst reading NGamer. How about Tingle as an assist trophy? He could have the same role as in Wind Waker (the GBA link up feature) and come in and drop bombs on contestants. I said that before Though I don't think I ever posted it
Cookyman Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Had an idea whilst reading NGamer. How about Tingle as an assist trophy? He could have the same role as in Wind Waker (the GBA link up feature) and come in and drop bombs on contestants. I've got a better role for the little bastard make him the sandbag so I can beat the shit out of him - as you can see I'm not his biggest fan : peace:
Jonnas Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I always pressed up to jump. It's very practical. Movement with the stick and attacks with the buttons. Plus, Z-Button is better for grabs. Can't get the hang of R + A.
Kurtle Squad Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I always use R+A now, ever since Goron3 told me Originally the Z button used to bugger my finger; wasn't used to widening apart like that.* *I am aware that sentance sounds more sexual that it maybe should have
Serebii Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 so, again you have to press "up" to jump.... yeah, i wont be buying this in a rush. You do realise the controls are completely customisable right?
Gatoman Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 so, again you have to press "up" to jump.... yeah, i wont be buying this in a rush. yea! what serebii said! (love your site BTW)
Kav Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 R+A for grabbing! Use both up and Y for jumping... just in some situations one can feel better than the other!
Dyson Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Converted from using up to using X/Y. Can't jump with up anymore though
Blue_Ninja0 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 My brother also uses Up on the control stick to jump. I don't know how can he play like that. My control scheme is: Jump: X Grab/Item throws: Z Shield/Dodge: L And I never use the C-stick.
The fish Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 My brother also uses Up on the control stick to jump. I don't know how can he play like that. My control scheme is: Jump: X Grab/Item throws: Z Shield/Dodge: L And I never use the C-stick. I roll like this! I ban people from playing the next game if they use the C-stick in my house.
