bob Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Hmmm, can you delete a Gamertag easily, or do you have to phone them up? The reason I ask is that I have two gamertags, one that i use, and one that I don't, but i want the account that i use, to have the gamertag of the one i don't use, so i want to delete the one i don't use and switch the gamertag name across.

Yeah, just go and delete the one you don't want, but make sure it's a full profile delete and not just off your HDD. You should then be able to change your other GT, although i'm not sure how long you will need to wait. It may be instant or you may need to wait something like 24 hours for your old GT to get through the system.

I'm not sure i have enough Microsoft points to change my Tag over right now though...
Caris Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 How do you do this? I thought you couldn't delete a XBL Gamertag from Microsofts servers.
Hero-of-Time Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 More rumors are surfacing in regards to the 360 successor being pushed back due to manufacturing issues. Michael Pachter was on about this the other day and now someone else has spoken about about the issues that have arose while making the new console. A story on tech news site SemiAccurate claims that the processor in the next Xbox is being manufactured by AMD - a change from the IBM PowerPC chip in the Xbox 360 - and should start rolling off the production lines in December, but has been hit by manufacturing problems. The site's sources say that the chip, codenamed "Oban", is being manufactured in huge quantities at a variety of different manufacturing plants in the Far East, which is fairly standard practice for consumer electronics. The problem, apparently, is that most of the chips coming off the production line aren't good enough to pass testing. That means a lot of duff silicon and a greatly reduced ability to manufacture consoles. We've gone for a different Xbox 720 mockup, as Ed's away. This isn't uncommon with new chip manufacture, but the numbers are apparently dangerously bad and may mean that Microsoft won't be able to make enough new consoles to meet the expected Xbox 720 launch date of autumn 2013. There's still time to get things sorted, says the report, but not much - if the production problems aren't resolved by November, and chips don't start arriving in big numbers by February, then we might have to wait until 2014 to get the next Xbox. Could this be the source of Gamestop's recent suggestion that a next-gen console could arrive in 2014? Probably not, we reckon - SemiAccurate's story says that Microsoft is still clinging to a 2013 release date for Xbox 720, and Sony's still got to make a few more quid back on PS3. I would rather them get it right first time than have another RROD fiasco. Saying that though the 360 line up for exclusives is pretty thin as it is and holding out till 2014 would be a bit of a nightmare.
Shorty Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Because.... they've fallen massively behind intel over the last year or two? Because there's not a single AMD which bests an intel processor in benchmarking tests in any price bracket whatsoever?
Cube Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I suppose that's why I have an Intel processor. Although they do really good graphics cards (now they own ATi).
are1981 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) I can't read past page 1137 on this thread. On the top and the bottom of the page it says "Page 1137 of 1139". I can click on 1138 and 1139, but the links forward me to page 1137. If someone has heard of this before, and know why, can you please send me a personal message? This is the last post I can read: I suppose that's why I have an Intel processor. Although they do really good graphics cards (now they own ATi). Maybe my computer isn't THX certified past page 1137? Good joke? I wrote it myself! Proud. Edited September 21, 2012 by are1981
Magnus Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 There is no page 1138 or 1139. It's a bug.

Cube Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 (edited) A new part of Xbox Reward has been launched based on achievements 3000 - 9999: Contender. - Special Birthday Gift. 10,000 - 24,999: Champion - Special Birthday Gift. - 1% rebate on XBLM purchases. 25,000+: Legend - Special Birthday Gift. - 2% rebate on XBLM purchases. The birthday gift has an approximate value of 15p. Is it me, or would Microsoft seem less stingy if they didn't bother with this? With the 2% one you need to spend 20,000 MS points to get a 400 MS Point game. Edited October 2, 2012 by Cube
MindFreak Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Yeah, it's a step in the right direction but it's seriously useless.
Shorty Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 More annoyingly it's just going to leave you with a tonne of leftover points :/

They are probably spending more money on rolling out this new reward system than they will reward all their Live members, combined, ever. Shorty Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 No, I worded it badly, in fact I didn't think I even submitted that post. What I meant to say was, it's going to leave you with pointlessly small amounts of excess points eg 1316 if you had 2100 and bought something for 800 with the 25k+ bonus.
S.C.G Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I was under the assumption that surely the points will only get deposited once you accumulate a certain even number such as 100 just like you get from doing monthly surveys on the site, 20 MSP per survey so after 5 months you get 100 MSP deposited into your account... ... come to think of it, that's not even that great but at least it's better than nothing I suppose.
Shorty Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Lol the birthday gift is also 20 MSP. So you've had XBL for 5 years and accumulated 50k achievement points? Which means you've bought a minimum of 50 games and spent probably like £1000-1500? Here's 20 MSP back. Approximate retail value: 17 pence. 4 more years of Xbox and you can afford a hat for your avatar!
Cube Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Wait, it's simply 20 MS points? I was expecting some useless random Avatar item.
Jimbob Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 20 points, pfff. Rather have a bowl of coco-pops.
are1981 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) New report on MSP's death: http://www.vg247.com/2012/10/08/microsoft-abandoning-ms-points-new-report-claims/ I am sure this will lead to prices increasing, as currently, multiplatform games are between approximately 5-15 percent cheaper on Xbox 360 than on PlayStation 3, at least here in Norway. Edit: I forgot to mention the occasionally very reasonably priced MSP codes available on Amazon UK. When I bought MSP on Amazon UK in July, 1800 points for GBP 12.99 (10.83 exported to Norway), game prices decreased to a very comfortable level! The bottom line is, I think I like MSP, an I do not want it to go away. Edited October 8, 2012 by are1981
jayseven Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Here in AUS it's currently about $50AUD for 3000 - which works out to be £30. It's not much but it's definitely not cheap. Comaparatively the On Demand games are actually quite reasonably priced (via the dash). New games retail for around $120AUD (£70ish!!) so it'd be interesting to see how prices alter. I'd imagine they would be marked up a few dollars. However if I didn't need to do The Great Faff each time I wanted to get points in order to get a game, then I'd probably purchase more and more often.
Jimbob Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm too used to using MSP. I don't think it would make a difference using money compared to MSP with purchases. I suppose it's nice using points though, and i don't intend on putting my card details online. Havn't yet so far.
LegoMan1031 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Got the updated dashboard yesterday... More boxes on home page for more adverts.... Not tried IE on it yet.
