Dante Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 In a interview with Eurogamer, Mark Rein calls the Natal the next gen Xbox console.
LegoMan1031 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) Not been on my 360 all week. Decide to buy halo wars and so went on said console today. PROBLEM 15 minutes ago i was playing a xbla demo, all the colours go funny, random flickering, all the colours are toned down. I went back to dashboard, still the same. Turned on sky and ps3, all fine there. Turn off 360, turned back on. Now i can no longer see anything on screen yet the console is loading up. Have tried console in my sisters room using her cables, same result, i cant see anything but i can hear the 360 noises. Also when i load it up in my room my sisters console is saying im signed in so it's obviously not a general hardware problem. I'm going to assume my 360 is fucked. Console is 1 year 2 months old from purchase (elite). What should i do? Coz if i ring them up i will be charged for repair wont i since it ent 3 red lights and over a year old? Edited July 26, 2009 by Mike1988uk
Hero-of-Time Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 The only thing I can suggest is to try and force the 3 red lights otherwise you will have to pay for the repair of the console. It sounds like what happened to mine last year, all the screen went all blocky and weird and eventually I couldn't get a picture, then it just died. One of my mates 360 started to knack up so he smacked the top of it out of frustration, got another few months out of it before it RROD.
S.C.G Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 What should i do? It's RROD... if not now then in about a day it will be, even if it doesn't show the signs it's still RROD, phone up M$ and tell them it's RROD, even if it isn't just say it's RROD because it will happen eventually anyway due to the company's complete failure at making a reliable system... it's within the three years that they promise to fix for free if it's RROD so take advantage of this, there is no way that you should have to pay £60 to get it fixed when it shouldn't be breaking down so frequently in the first place. So just remember... RROD!
S.C.G Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 ^^^ Heh I totally called it! Ah well at least you won't have to pay to get it repaired Mike, just remember, RROD!
LegoMan1031 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 ^^^ Heh I totally called it! Ah well at least you won't have to pay to get it repaired Mike, just remember, RROD! Hurrah for RROD! lol, yeah who would ever have thought i would be glad to see it flash 3 red lights!!!! But yeah S.C.G at least it wont cost me now! Just need to go out and find something to put it in now! got an e-mail this morning with the label n stuff.
nightwolf Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Poor xbox, I thought I had an RROD last week, realised it wasn't plugged in properly..-.- silly me.
Cube Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Poor xbox, I thought I had an RROD last week, realised it wasn't plugged in properly..-.- silly me. I had a shock when I first had three controllers attached (as I can't tell the difference between the green and red).
LegoMan1031 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 UPS have just collected my 360. The driver goes "guess its an xbox then" lol. Wonder how many he has collected then...
Hero-of-Time Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 UPS have just collected my 360. The driver goes "guess its an xbox then" lol. Wonder how many he has collected then... I had a guy come pick up a parcel for my sister, he said " Im here for the xbox " then said " sorry I mean power drill, ive been saying that most of the day "
Deathjam Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I had a guy come pick up a parcel for my sister, he said " Im here for the xbox " then said " sorry I mean power drill, ive been saying that most of the day " Jesus what an unreiable machine! Not a fanboy statement, as I strive not to be one, but I can't understand how people can buy this machine, living in the fear that it will almost inevitably break. Even as a ps3 owner, I live in this fear, as this machine has a fail rate that is not as low as would first appear but is somehow overshadowed by the xbox. I mean, it's already happened to Daft 2-3 times and Dwarf once as well as a few other people on these forums. everytime my ps3 crashes, I wonder if the next button press will determine if I need to fork out £150 to fix it. With my old fat ps2, I never had this problem and that is still going strong! Guess my point and question is, do you guys fear turning on your machine to have those three red lights tell you that death has come for your machine?
Cube Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 everytime my ps3 crashes, I wonder if the next button press will determine if I need to fork out £150 to fix it. For the first three years, it's unlikely that you'll have to spend any money to fix your Xbox. And if you get a replacement machine with a new serial number then you enter the details to Xbox.com and the three years start over. I don't worry about it at all, if it happens, it happens. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the games at all.
LegoMan1031 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Well now have had the 3 main ones fail on me now this generation. My wii broke 6 months after i got it, then my ps3 went faulty and now my 360. How annoying. But in a weird kind of way the 360 is best 'protected' now as cube said with it having 3 year warrenty on 3 red lights which is the main fault with it whereas wii/ps3 only have 1.
Deathjam Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I am the end of my warranty for my ps3, and the wii as well when I come to think about it! So yeah, dont' really have faith in their will to survive.
Dyson Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 It's the same with everything, phones, mp3 players and indeed consoles. As they get more and more advanced, more things can go wrong with them. Back in the day the Nokia 3210 was an indestructible beast of a phone, as was the Gamecube. Look at what we've got these days and we have phones that break at the slightest bump, and consoles that break after a certain amount of time, or if they try and play a certain dual layer DVD (I'm looking at you, Brawl..)
Roostophe Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 My 360 has never broken. I've had it for nearly three years. Although I use the Elite more often now. There, I said it. I've probably tempted fate now and it will stop working later.
Columnar Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I'm on my second 360. My first one died of the ol' RROD after 2 years and 9 months. I then decided that I would buy a PS3. Then it died on Boxing Day '08 after the BD lens stopped working and the fan went a bit haywire after having it only 11 months. Luckily I was just within warranty and got it swapped with a refurb for free. Before this I bought a second 360 and it broke in February after the fans stopped working and it was overheating so had to get that fixed. My brother is also on his second 360. As for my Wii, I've had it since June '07 and apart from the odd freeze it's still going strong.
