ReZourceman Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Only other film I have watched of his is Signs. Which I didn't really quite get :/ And erm, tar for that :/ Watch Unbreakable
Goron_3 Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Watch Unbreakable  With Bruce and jackson? Fucking INCREDIBLE that movie 'i should have known, the kids..they used to call me Mr Glass...' EPIC
Eenuh Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Whoooooooooooo! I finally got to see Wall-E! Honestly, there hasn't been a single Pixar movie so far that disappointed me (Cars is my least favourite, but even that one was a bit better than I expected). I knew this one would be good but oh, it was more than good, it was great! Honestly, if you haven't seen it yet, go see it now! =D
Cube Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Stardust (No, not the OMFG!!!! TROPHIES!!! Game, the film based on a novel). I never heard of it until today, but it was actually a rather good film. Very unserious, some great humour. It's a tad predictable, but still a nice tale. While it lost points for having the idiot Gervais (acting exactly the same as always), it gains them back for the punishment his character gets. 8/10 But then if I include the credits... -200/10 Stupid effin Take That. Oh, and Unbreakable is pretty awesome.
Konfucius Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Wanted Declined rapidly after a fanastic opening. I don't mind if the laws of physic are bended but you can't bend the laws of logic. Well apparently the Director thought different. Most of the story felt pretty predictable and I could see the "plot twist" from a long way off. We're also pretty much left in the dark about their motives. I mean "kill one, maybe save a thousand" isn't a very clever motto at all. It also lacked a convincing bad guy und the actions of all the different people were not comprehensible. Still the gunfights were awesome. 7/10
Chris the great Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 agree with people on this thread, both the kingdom and stardust were good films. any way, watched troy (parents wanted a fiom to watch, this was my best offer). whilst i dont think its a great film, its certainly not worthy of the hate it gets. the battles were well done, the story is a decent take on the illiad, ok, alot of the acting was poor, but also, otoole was fantastic as the king of troy. 7/10.
Paj! Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm I love this film...just how good/bad Phantasm actually is, and his unexplained his powers are. I do love the animated series in general, though. 7/10

Jesus, you fucking idiots have got to be dumb (no offense, just ranting aimlessly)... a 7 is a good score! Not eveything below an 8.5 = shit. Dear lord!
Jim Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Walk The Line I only knew a little about Johnny Cash, and only knew Ring Of Fire and Walk The Line by him, which I think is a good thing. I had no expectations. I thought it was great. Quite a sombre tale in parts, but the music was great, as was the acting. I'd only ever seen Jaoquin Phoenix in The Vilage, where he kinda had no room to act. 8.4/10 great movie, my dad is a huge johnny cash fan so i grew up listening to a lot of his stuff. Phoenix played it so well, just a great movie. Anyways... The Dark Knight Saw it last night finally. Absolutely amazing. "A little fight in ya? I like that" "Then you're gonna love me!" Haha, classic stuff made so much better with Bale's husky voice. Ledger did such a good job with the joker, very unique to the old joker done by Jack Nicholson. I really, really liked this movie. Bale and Ledger were fantastic. The gadgets were great, the action was awesome, and there was a good amount of humour. The only downer was whoever the minger is that played rachel. 9/10
gARYgREATIE* Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The Dark Knight ...The only downer was whoever the minger is that played rachel. 9/10 Pretty controversial. I think she worked really well as Rachael, I don't think it would have made sense if she was played by some absolute babe, you need a bit more depth. And by that I'm not saying beautiful people can't be deep blah blah bored of writing sensible now. Urr nurr I am teh Salant Man....

Dear lord! he said, "the gunfights were awsome" clearly that raised the film in his eyes. his talk about poor plot is really not a huge criticism for the film, which is not really able to count plot amoungst its strong points. litteraly, the plot was just in to string the gun fights, which he enjoyed, together.

Gun fights don't make up for the lack of eveything else. By what he said, anything more than a 5 is unnacceptable.
Oxigen_Waste Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Madagascar Relatively entertaining. 5/10 Thank god... someone who actually rates kids movies accordingly to their quality. I hate it when people always give these movies a higher score than they deserve because "they're kids movies".
Cube Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Gun fights don't make up for the lack of eveything else. By what he said, anything more than a 5 is unnacceptable. But if he still enjoyed the film, then a high score is acceptable. Edit: I don't think I've seen many cases of people giving a film a higher score just becasue it's for kids in this thread.

Edit: I don't think I've seen many cases of people giving a film a higher score just becasue it's for kids in this thread. Not if he contradicts himself withing the review, it isn't. Anywho, I'm not talking about the good movies, I'm talking about crap like Shrek 3, Surf's Up and Madagascar, which is like "OMG it sucked and so on and so on" and then comes a 7. I don't get it.
Cube Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Not if he contradicts himself withing the review, it isn't. He mainly mentioned the plot. Some films don't need a plot to be enjoyable to watch. Wanted is a great film to watch, even though the plot is balls.

By what he said, anything more than a 5 is unnacceptable. personaly, for me, the gunfights didnt make up for the lack of anything else enjoyable about the film, but you know, this is HIS opinion of the film. if he gives it a 7, he enjoyed it (which sounds like the gun fights brought it up to that for him. he says the plot and logic suck, but thats not always a bad thing. i love devil may cry even if its a big bowl of retarded in places. just because your intepritation if his review would lead to a lower score dosent mean hes done it wrong. maybe you just look for outher things in films?
Eenuh Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Madagascar Relatively entertaining. 5/10 Heh, I watched about half of that movie then gave up. Just really didn't entertain me at all, and the characters annoyed me very much.
mariosmentor Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The Mist What a bloody fantastic ending. 9.5/10

Porn is great to watch too. personaly, for me, the gunfights didnt make up for the lack of anything else enjoyable about the film, but you know, this is HIS opinion of the film. if he gives it a 7, he enjoyed it (which sounds like the gun fights brought it up to that for him. he says the plot and logic suck, but thats not always a bad thing. i love devil may cry even if its a big bowl of retarded in places. just because your intepritation if his review would lead to a lower score dosent mean hes done it wrong. maybe you just look for outher things in films? It's not "my interpretation", there's a method to scoring things. A 7 would mean that about 70% of the film was good.
Cube Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Great to watch and how good it is are two different things... I use this threat to rate how good it is to watch, not how good it is. A lot of people here do.
Slaggis Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The Mist What a bloody fantastic ending. 9.5/10 I thought it was a fantastic film too. One of the best horror films of the past few years for sure.
triforce_keeper Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I use this threat to rate how good it is to watch, not how good it is. A lot of people here do. I tend to rate more on how I enjoyed it
