Nice! What's the highest chain you've had? I still kinda prefer the pokeradar in ORAS. Especially with trying to get a Pelipper with a lucky egg.

 

Not sure, haven't really counted (unless it tells you somewhere?). Tried chaining for a shiny Diglett, Meowth, Yungoos (which I got a shiny) until I got bored so maybe a couple of hours each? The Eevee I got lucky and didn't get very far as I was only chaining for a high IV one and I didn't even hit a chain of 30.

 

Speaking of chaining, just caught a supposedly rare Pokemon.

 

 

 

You can only encounter them by having Corsola call for one, but it took me 45 minutes to find a Corsola. Lucky the first time it called for help was this, as it's meant to be a rare encounter (1%?).

 

I had to fish for another Corsola though to catch for the Pokedex. Thankfully it only took 15 minutes after the first one.

After all that drama of boycotting this gen... Not trying to be malicious, but it would be great if we gamers could stop and think and be a bit more level-headed when it comes to business moves or '[nostalgia]pandering'. It's not that deep.

 

Nope, still gonna gripe. And I'm the kind of player that talks to every NPC, so I WILL find those Gen 1 references.

Of course, willing to look past them if other gens get around the same amount of shout-outs, but something tells me that ain't gonna happen.

 

In fact, I have such little faith, that I'm willing to give away a Shiny Pokemon if I prove myself wrong.

 

So during my playthrough, if I find out that the total references to Gens 2-5 match or exceed the Gen 1 references, I'll give you a Shiny Pokemon.

Might as well be a Gen 1 Pokemon, so a Shiny Golduck, how about that?

Probably to do with the fact that back on the glory days of Pokemon Stadium, a nickname would change the colour of your Pokemon from R/B/Y, which never sat well with me!

 

I've never done it either but then I also don't faff on with EV training, breeding Pokemon or resetting my game countless times to to get a certain nature. I usually find my team, train them up and then just kick some butt until the credits roll. Job done.

I used to think the same, but then I nicknamed my team in Gen 5 and well... Now I use a Hydreigon named Hat.

Although to be fair, Mystery Dungeon got me naming Pokemon. A Marowak called Jasper, and it kinda snowballed from there.

I dunno about the other peeps here, but to me, giving a nickname injects a bit of personality to a Pokemon.

 

I mean, yeah, it doesn't actually do that, but it adds to the experience. Even if I spend hours agonising over the Enter name screen.

I know you're only having a laugh, but come on. That problem was resolved in Gold/Silver when they started showing the Pokemon when you highlighted it!

I never used to nickname my Pokemon, but that changed recently after seeing some of the stuff that people came up with regards to nicknames. My brother started nicknaming his Pokemon at one point and I eventually re-nicknamed all my Gen 5 and 6 Mon.

 

Only reason I didn't do it in HeartGold because I didn't do it in Pearl. Back to doing it here in Moon now.

 

In other news, beaten the first trial. During that trial, when I tried telling the Team Skull Grunts that I didn't recognise them I got this gem of a line:

 

 

Also, Mickey Pichu now has the Normalium-Z, so can hit harder without having to setup now. I do wonder how much a Nasty Plot + Breakneck Blitz on Echoed Voice would do though.

Having a quick look on Miiverse and I can't see any screenshots so maybe not? I had to laugh that some people spoiler tagged such crazy spoilers as "litten". That's it. That's the whole spoiler.

Went back to a few areas after completing the first trial to complete the Pokedex a bit more and my Rowlet has now evolved into a Dartrix.

Just completed my first Grand Final with Pichu, Rowlett, Grubbin and Pikipek. Really love with the animations in the game like the trainers issue orders to their pokemon, etc. Rotom Pokedex is brilliant too.

 

So far, my current team is now Pikachu, Dartix, Trumbeak, Charjabug, Rockruff and Munchlax. Got Mankey and Roggenrola in the PC.

But I'm pretty far into the game and the references to other regions is pretty mixed.

Progress update, beat all the trainers on Route 3 and caught a Mankey and a Crabrawler. About to take on Hala in the First Grand Trial. My team is:

 

Kaepora/Dartrix Lv.19

Mickey/Pichu Lv.19 (Still a Pichu, given it the Soothe Bell to try and speed up it's evolution into a Pikachu)

Oricorio Lv.12

Petilil Lv.11

Toby Fox/Growlithe Lv.10

Mankey Lv.11

 

 

Because I've only been using two Pokemon, Dartrix and Pichu are way too overlevelled, especially consider the opponents are all low 10s. I think Hala is a Fighting type specialist so should sweep him with Dartrix.

I spent 20 min deciding if i wanted to play as a girl or a boy first (broke tradition and went girl)

Now i've got to choose a starter and i want Litten AND Rowlet Why can't i have two?

Maybe i should choose a Rowlet, get to where i can bank them (when is that?) and then restart and choose Litten
