Cube Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/nintendo-set-to-offer-loot-crate-subscription-box-rival/0153435 Looks like the Official Nintendo UK Store will be doing a "blind box" with Nintendo goodies, similar to Zavvi's "Z-Box" (or the more famous Loot Crate). It's due to launch in September.
Rummy Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Certainly interesting - what's the general price of it likely to be is my wonder though? (also would this be better in Nintendo? I kinda like it here though)
Happenstance Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Im always tempted by all these various loot boxes that have been turning up lately but you watch the videos on Youtube of being unboxing them and its pretty much always just a load of stuff that I would never buy on its own or memorabilia stuff that I'll think was cool for the first 10 minutes then it would go in a drawer and never come back out. The only one that I've really thought about subscribing to was that retro loot box that sends you actual retro games each month.
Cube Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 I'll give it a try for a few months as this is dedicated to something you like, so you don't get a box of guff from franchises you don't care about.
Daft Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Yeah, just never saw the appeal of this crap. As if anyone needed more tat. Although, I'd almost definitely do a DC comics one so what do I know.
Ronnie Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I may give this a go but not if it only includes things from the Nintendo UK store. There's nothing else I want on there or else I'd have bought it.
dazzybee Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Is it cheaper than buying everything individually these things? I main,y worry about owning everything that will be inside.
V. Amoleo Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The Hut Group's Z-Boxes are actually pretty good. So to have a Nintendo themed one, with the official brand behind it, should turn out quite good. Does show that there's no denying who's actually running The Official Nintendo Store now though!

That retro loot box basically went bust...they stopped delivering outside of UK and now they just sell retro games on their site.
Ashley Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) I'm just sat here waiting for someone to get an ultra rare amiibo and then find themselves being hunted, Hunger Games-style. Although, I'd almost definitely do a DC comics one so what do I know. There's a merch one... Edited August 1, 2015 by Ashley
Sméagol Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I always like the "idea" of these boxes, but in practice, they never fail to disappoint. You can count on those boxes being filled with 99.5% rubbish. I've taken a look at the last few loot crates to have them set an example, and there were I think 2 vinyl toys I'd keep (No, not vinyl pops, I hate those things). This being guarenteed to be 100% filled with Nintendo stuff, increases the chances of containing stuff I'd like, but only marginally so.. These boxes are usually filled with merch they can't get rid of. Buttons, miniposters, single comics.. Those aren't stuff I'm interested in, and it's usually cheaper to get the vinyl figures and pluches (the only potentially interesting stuff for me personally) directly. The only thing that remains is the element of surprise, and it can be enjoyable to simply find out which crap you got in the box (which you'll be trying to trade or sell later), but I would't pay the price they're going to ask for it, simply for the surprise factor.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Going to call this now, it's going to be filled with stuff from the Stars Catalogue that they couldn't shift because they closed down the programme/stuff was shit.
