The next entry in Square Enix’s Theatrhythm rhythm game series is not another Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, but Theatrhythm Dragon Quest, the company announced.

Due out on March 26, 2015 for 5,800 yen (plus tax) in Japan, the rhythm action game will be playable at Jump Festa next weekend. A trailer will also debut.

Calling @Ike and @Grazza. :D

I love the Final Fantasy versions of the game and although I'm not as familiar with the tunes in DQ I still look forward to giving this a blast.

YES!!!! ALL OF MY MONEY!!!! :bouncy:

Let's just hope that this game actually ends up getting localised though... We've gotten both Theatrhythm games so far but not a single Dragon Quest game throughout the whole generation...

Lets just hope that the allure of DLC milking is enough to convince S-E to localise this one... I don't want to have to import a JPN 3DS...

This x100. Been wanting this since the first TFF.

Heroes in February and this in March. Good times for Japanese DQ fans. This shouldn't need a Hugh localisation job so hoping chances are good we'll get it. The mobile games are selling pretty well.

One of my f favourite games on the 3DS, I'd love love love a Zelda and/or Star Wars version, but just another one is fine by me. Don't know Dragon Quest at all, but didn't really know final fantasy either! Can't wait!

I'm so conflicted about this. Whilst I love, love, love Dragon Quest (and love the music just as much), I can't stand rhythm games! (Tried the Final Fantasy Theatrhythm and didn't like it any more than other rhythm games.)

But... it's Dragon Quest! I have to get it!

Not that i'm not going to want this but...wtf SE stop trolling fans! this isn't the Dragon Quest game fans have demanded! this is almost as bad as the PS4 FF7 they announced

It's the Dragon Quest game that I demanded though :p

Same here. I mean, I've only played DQ IX, but I am totally OK with more Theatrhythm.

(I do wish they'd hurry up and release that Bravely Default DLC for Curtain Call though...)

It's not like DQXI isn't in development. And this probably didn't require much work since they are most likely reusing the engine.

Nor is it being made by the team that would be working on a mainline DQ game anyway (what, unless you think that a tiny team like Indieszero is going to be making a massive RPG :p )

Haha, nope. Hoping it's Level 5 working on XI.

I stand corrected, I'd love this game too, but i'd rather some DQ games coming to WiiU/3DS before this

The next main title is confirmed as home console, here's hoping PS4.

I loved the music in DQVIII, not sure about Theatrhythm though with it being a rhythm game. Never particularly enjoyed Guitar Hero or the like.

Wow. I was expecting it to look very similar, but not THAT similar!

It barely looks any different at all! It's really striking just how much of a blatant re-skin it is of Theatrhythm FF. Kinda off-putting in that respect actually...

I mean, it even re-uses the same character animations and all! This could easily just be DLC for the current Theatrhythm: Curtain Call.

I'm not gonna blame Indies Zero here, because this game probably has a dev budget of about $10, but it's pretty shameful on S-E's part to not have it differentiated a bit more at least (at least have some different character animations for goodness sake!)

At least the battles are done a bit differently (not much differently mind you - it's just a shift in camera perspective).

I also don't think that the Theatrhythm/Kingdom Hearts Mobile art style fits the DQ characters very well. See, with FF, all of the characters vary wildy in terms of style, so going with a cute uniform art style makes sense; with DQ though they already follow a uniform art style, so it doesn't make sense here. Now they just look like FF characters, with none of their trademark Toriyama style...

Still want it though :p

Got no nostalgia for Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Give me Theatrythm Zelda already!

The chances of that happening are hilariously low.

It wouldn't be called Theatrhythm Zelda for a start, that's for sure.

So @Dcubed got the Japanese demo for this. The instant we saw the title, we both screamed "BUDGET!"

This game was so made on the cheap, and it's hilarious.

Even the menu sound effects and interface are ripped straight from Curtain Call.

I failed the BMS song because of the new vertical style, muscle memory screwed me over bad.

The most interesting thing we noticed is that each song seems to have an alternate score for each difficulty which effectively removes the yellow notes and the wavy patterns in EMS.

I can only assume this is for those weirdos who play with buttons. It's very button friendly. But I can't help but feel that removes half the challenge from it.

But oh well, it's optional. Just wanted to point it out.

It's Theatrhytm, it's still fun, but it's super budget, and it adds to the hilarity.

Yup, just the title screen alone will have you in stitches. The way the logo comes in with that really pathetic sounding fanfare (it's the really cheap sounding instrumentation that slays me) is just hilarious

It doesn't even support S3D at all! (despite the fact that it would've been a big help for the BMS songs. As it is, it's a bit hard to keep track of the note charts....)

Otherwise, it's more Theatrhythm. The two demo songs are surprisingly hard though! If that's indicative of the general difficulty of the songs in this game, well... oh my... :o
