flameboy Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Ok so now I've bought an Xbox One instead of sticking with Sony for now I was wondering what games are are must play? I've already gone and used some paypal credit to order GoW 1,2,3 for just 15 quid from Game! Going to borrow a 360 and rip through them with any luck! But my question is what else would be considered musts to catch up on and be ready for next gen versions of those franchises? Are Halo 3, ODST, Reach AND 4 all worth playing the single player on? What other franchises? are Fable 2 or 3 worth bothering with?
Mandalore Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Shadow Complex and Geometry Wars 2 and Kameo are worth a go. Having a hard time thinking of anything else that isn't now multi format... Oh how could I forget Hydro Thunder Hurricane! Awesome arcade style racing game, a rare breed nowadays. Kameo is a good call. I wouldn't get geometry wars as played the crap out of the Wii and the ios version.
Goron_3 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I'm going to go with Dead Rising. Tbh I can't seem to think of any other 360 exclusive franchises other than Gears, Halo and Fable
Cube Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Halo 3, Halo ODST, Alan Wake, Fable 2, Kameo, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Geometry Wars 2 and Gears of War 2.
flameboy Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 Halo 3, Halo ODST, Alan Wake, Fable 2, Kameo, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Geometry Wars 2 and Gears of War 2. Got Alan Wake on PC but thanks for Banjo would never have thought of it!
Jimbob Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Fable II is more worth getting over Fable III, and with the Anniversary edition of the original Fable coming in 2 weeks time it may be worth picking up. I can't really think of any other games, maybe Forza.
jayseven Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Did you play Deadly Premonition? Shadows of the Damned? Darkness? And what's the deal with this "year of shame" -- I thought you weren't supposed to buy any new games :P

And what's the deal with this "year of shame" -- I thought you weren't supposed to buy any new games :P Combination of Xmas presents plus anything sold that isn't hard cash (ie ebay sales that become a paypal balance are allowed!)
Shorty Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Get Apple Jack from the indie store. Shadow Complex from XBLA. There's a Fable trilogy landing in a couple of weeks, wait for that if you've not played Fable 1. Although 3 is missable.
Hero-of-Time Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Viva Piñata! Seriously, they are quality games. If you are into JRPGs then Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are the way to go. Crackdown can be picked up for dirt cheap and is a fun sandbox game.
S.C.G Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Ninja Gaiden II Hands down one of the best games on the system. : peace: Aside from that... Bioshock series Mass Effect trilogy Assuming you haven't played them already of course, if you have then I'd just refer you back to Ninja Gaiden II...
Daft Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I second Crackdown. It's amazing. Crackdown 2, not so much. Also, Earth Defence Force 2017.

Everyone says so. I completely forgot about Crackdown good call! I second Crackdown. It's amazing. Crackdown 2, not so much. Also, Earth Defence Force 2017. I actually have a copy of that sat at home in England along with Binary Domain that I won via facebook when Tom Champion of eurogamer was having a clear out!
flameboy Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Halo 3, Halo ODST, Alan Wake, Fable 2, Kameo, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Geometry Wars 2 and Gears of War 2. Just a quick question any reason for leaving out Halo Reach and Halo 4? Not considered essential or did you perhaps not play them?
Cube Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Just a quick question any reason for leaving out Halo Reach and Halo 4? Not considered essential or did you perhaps not play them? I haven't played Halo 4 (I think I actually have it somewhere), but I found Reach to be rather boring.
Happenstance Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Just a quick question any reason for leaving out Halo Reach and Halo 4? Not considered essential or did you perhaps not play them? I never got a chance to play 4 but I really enjoyed Reach.

The Peeps Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I think both Reach and Halo 4 were quite good single-player campaigns. Reach more than 4 though. Halo 4 had good gameplay but a terrible story.
Magnus Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I think both Reach and Halo 4 were quite good single-player campaigns. Reach more than 4 though. Halo 4 had good gameplay but a terrible story. I think Reach was OH THAT'S RIGHT I HAVEN'T PLAYED IT.
The Peeps Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I think Reach was OH THAT'S RIGHT I HAVEN'T PLAYED IT. Oh erm well I mean it wasn't that good?
Shorty Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 @flameboy it concerns me that you won't have taken my Apple Jack suggestion seriously, it's only like... 65p... free trial... pls try it. Pls OP.
Dog-amoto Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Got to second Viva Piñata. I would say it's Xbox 360's finest exclusive. And there's no hint of sarcasm there. Trouble in Paradise was good, but the original was better.
