Buying one at launch is the biggest regret of my life. I should have waited for the PS4 :(
Oh I forgot you did that! Thought you got one recently but I remember a chat of ours at Autosports now about what else that money could have bought ;p

Microsoft’s Xbox One has been crowned the fastest-selling video game console to date in Australia, as its key rival, Sony, struggled to fulfil pre-orders for the PlayStation 4.

Market research firm NPD Group said a total of 65,917 Xbox One consoles were sold in its first three days on sale in Australia, more than doubling the *previous launch record for the *Nintendo Wii in 2006, and beating out previous records for number of consoles sold in a week.

The record sales numbers provided a much-needed boost to the games industry, which has in recent years *suffered from faltering sales due to the lengthy shelf life of the previous *generation of consoles and greater competition from mobile devices.

Australians were among the first in the world to purchase Xbox Ones on November 22 as it launched progressively across 13 countries, with games retailer EB Games calling demand for the console “unprecedented”.

Sony opted for a staggered launch of its competing PlayStation 4, putting it on sale in the United States in early November before launching it into more countries, including *Australia, a week after the Xbox One’s availability.

The Japanese entertainment giant said last week it had sold 2.1 million units in the first fortnight since launch, of which 700,000 units had been sold in Europe and Australia.

The company would not break out local sales, but industry sources told The Australian Financial Review Australian sales of Sony’s device fell short of Microsoft’s across the same period a week earlier, primarily due to the company being unable to ship enough *consoles to meet the number of pre-orders at bricks-and-mortar retailers.

Michael Ephraim, the managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, said the company was planning to fulfil pre-orders before Christmas but expected ongoing *shortages.

Props to MS and its good to see both consoles doing well. Console gaming is well and truly alive and people are hungry for that next gen!!

i think it's best to just wait for the results to be released.

His not actually over the place. His probably on average 25% out which isnt that bad and I would say more worrying is many a time his overestimated the wii u sales and been out so for Nintendo's sake I would hope the 150k is a major underestimate!!

he is way off. The only times he gets remotely close is when he has based it on a previous month and there is nothing major happening games wise.

Holy mother of ducklet! That's a GREAT result for Wii U! :o

Much better than I had expected and quite a bit better than the GCN's equivalent 2nd Xmas week! (Which was 39,849 in 2002).

Dat DQX Ver 2 effect. The split is also much more favourable to Wii U than I had expected too :) (and no doubt much higher when you add in digital sales as most DQX Wii U sales supposedly came from the eShop - thanks to that special promotion they did back at the launch of Ver 1 for Wii U)

I just hope that the bump also translates world wide...

GT6 also fared better than I had expected, given all the room and gloom surrounding its release.

I assume most of you have seen the rumour about Kart and Smash launching next Spring. I still think Smash is a later release BUT if they were to both launch before the end of the fiscal year, surely there's a good chance that 9 million sales could be achieved, right? Maybe this is why Iwata refuses to lower the forecast?

Unfortunately not.

The 9 million goal is at the end of this fiscal year, correct? That's March.

When companies say Spring, they mean April, May, June...Q2 essentially (hell that's seasonal Spring -9 days anyway)

Unfortunately, we'll likely be 3 million short of his target, and that's the best case scenario of 2 million units between now and March :/

Nintendo has just emailed saying that it was a misinterpreted quote and isn't releasing Smash in Spring.

PS4 and Xbone really dropped like stones in Germany! (Meanwhile, Mario 3D World and Wii Party U are showing much stronger legs there than in the UK)

Bravely Default also seems to have performed better there than in the UK too :)

It's a shame that we don't get as much information on the other EU nations as the UK (especially seeing as it's not even the largest EU market...)

The UK has always hated Nintendo really. The rest of Europe is pretty much alright with it, loving it when they do stuff right, but the UK...

PS4 software was always going to drop in Germany. The console is sold out and and at launch people tend to pick up there titles in week 1 with a new console

Since its launch 18 days ago, Xbox One is proving to be the must-have gift this holiday season with more than 2 million consoles sold through to consumers worldwide, averaging over 111,111 units sold per day – a record-setting pace for Xbox. Millions of fans around the world who have purchased Xbox One have shown incredible engagement with the all-in-one games and entertainment system, spending over 83 million hours in games, TV, and apps on Xbox One since the system launched on Nov. 22.

“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers. We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions* on Xbox Live to date,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of strategy and marketing, Xbox.

Xbox One is also proving to be the most popular online multiplayer community for gamers with over 39 million Xbox One achievements unlocked and 595 million total Gamerscore achieved.

“Demand for next generation gaming continues to be very strong,” said John Love, director of video games at Amazon. “At peak demand, customers were ordering the Xbox One console at over 1000 units per minute on Amazon.com.”

“The Xbox One entertainment system is one of our hottest selling products this holiday season,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of Merchandising at GameStop. “GameStop is experiencing high demand from our customers for this innovative console and we are working closely with Microsoft to receive more units to fulfill our customers’ holiday shopping lists.”

“Xbox One is one of the hottest Christmas gifts this holiday season and was a top seller this Black Friday,” said Chris Nagelson, vice president of entertainment for Walmart U.S. “We are refreshing our inventory as fast as we can to ensure customers can give and receive the new console for Christmas.”

The Xbox team is continuing to work hard to meet consumer demand, delivering consoles to retailers as fast as possible this holiday season. To help people find Xbox One, Major Nelson recently shared some tips for consumers this holiday season.

Props to MS. The PS4 and XB1 launches have shown console gaming is well and truly alive.

Shame they didnt get the Wii U right. Thing is bombing all over mainland europe.

3DS is the machine europe loves.

Good to see the Wii U boost in Japan though. Taiko isnt doing too well though, Namco should have released it on Wii.

The next Taiko game should definitely be on the 3DS.

There's a difference between "hating" and "having no interest". I would assume it's the latter if anything. Come on, it's not like Nintendo is French or anything :p

I was under the impression that Nintendo had been doing very well in the UK for nearly a decade with the DS and Wii and its only the Wii U that has seen these awful sales for Hardware and Software?
