On a different note, how great does the new DuckTales look?

Absolutely fantastic. David Tennant sounds like a great Scrooge already!

Wasn't fond of the drawing style, the ducks look weird. However, when the action got going, it was actually quite good. Hope it'll be possible for me to watch it somewhere.

Robot Wars returned yesterday. Enjoyed the last series, team Apollo were brilliant.

This season should be great with robots like Carbide more battle tested, and there is a great one called Aftershock in the first episode with an awesome weapon. Glad it's not just flippers anymore.

Finished the first season of The Americans last night. Thought I'd check it out as it's now the most relevant show in America in spite of the fact it's set in 81...

It's good, although having difficulty differentiating between people makes it difficult to follow sometimes. Plus I'm constantly distracted by how amazing Keri Russell looks.

Not sure about anyone else but I think having some more dedicated TV show threads would be nice, makes it easier to discuss a show. Particularly as with Amazon and Netflix people tend to watch at different times.

I recently watched Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on Netflix after hearing a lot of positive buzz about it. I didn't love it the way some people did, and it took me a few episodes to really get into it, but I can certainly see why people are impressed. Rachel Bloom is one hell of an individual as she co-created the show, writes for it, writes the songs, acts and performs on the show and she's about my age (mixture of impressed and jealous).

It's funny and ridiculous and the musical premise is bound to turn some people off but even as someone that doesn't know anything about musicals I could see and appreciate how they tried the whole gamut and didn't just rely on one genre or style.

Plus it did provide a great take on mental health. It's easy to point to Rebecca's "craziness" (and the show does address it as its basically the central concept) but the more you watch the more it uncovers how everyone around her could be called "crazy" but it's less obvious/socially dismissed. It surprisingly managed to hit some emotional notes (no pun intended) amongst the silliness.

And the male lead was a Filipino and Filipino culture was discussed/reflected (one of the writers/recurring guests is Filipino). It's ridiculous that in 2016 having a non-white romantic lead is a surprise but there you go.

Recently watched Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and wanted to echo everything in Ashley's post. It's fun, very watchable, Rachel Bloom is brilliant and her character is hilarious and easy to empathise with. Trent should feature more!

Watched the final Episode of The Missing two days ago.

The first season is absolutely incredible. Aside from one supporting character that didn't really serve any purpose from a certain point, it was astounding. Great performances, almost perfect writing, and so many twists and turns that kept the whole thing intense right until the end.

The second season is even better.

Just a head's up: there's a real chance for another writer's strike. If they go ahead with the strike, this will have some (potentially disastrous) effects on a few films in production, but TV is where the effects are immediate. There should be more news on May 02. If the strike is on, the next season of Game of thrones is safe, but Star Trek Discovery could be even more delayed, to name an example.

Yeah, the last one killed quite a few shows that I loved. This had better not kill off Agents of SHIELD.

That show is on the bubble anyway as its not been doing too well.

Depends how long it lasts. It might just mean things get pushed to the new year and either have shorter seasons, ones that run later into summer or less hiatuses (after all, 24 used to start in January and wrap alongside others because it didn't have breaks).

That's because Terrorism doesn't take breaks Ashley.

Been watching The Sopranos for the last 5 weeks. Very cool show, but that ending was really weird.

I've spent the last couple of weeks watching through Archer on Netflix and have to say, I don't know why I hadn't watched it before now. It's so good, love a bit of dark humour and it really hits the nail on the head for that kind of thing.

Gutted that I've finished up the 7 seasons that were there and have to wait to see what happens next but in the mean time, I started Rick and Morty last week and again, I love it. Didn't really know what to think but it nicely takes over from Archer and gives another dark humour outlet and plenty "what the" moments. Partner has been watching it with me and loved the Mr Meeseeks episode, so she was happy that they were looking to bring him back in the current season.

Between watching Bojack Horseman, Archer and Rick and Morty back to back, I'm certainly scratching that animated TV show itch and getting a good laugh along the way.

Has anyone has any experience with using Amazon Prime Video and getting the sub with a gift card, I was just wondering whether it's as easy to do as with Netflix as I have an Amazon gift card lying around and I've been interested in trying both Mr Robot as well as trying the new American Gods show but there's little else that interests me with the service so didn't want to fork out for a long term sub with it.

Anyone else here still watching Agents of SHEILD?

Season 4 has been amazing, show continually gets better and better. Anyone who has stopped watch cuz they didnt like season 1 you cannot judge it on that, each season after gets better.

This weeks ep was just a rollercoaster, performances from actors especially the guys playing Fitz and Mack just have emotions all over the shop.

Cant believe a 5th season has not yet been confirmed

Check the dedicated thread out. A few of us in there are just about ready to marry it, it's so good.

Has anyone started watching American Gods? It's by Bryan Fuller, and I got Hannibal vibes -- I'm curious to see where it goes.

Also, Silicon Valley started its fourth season two weeks ago, that series is a good laugh!

I still need to watch American Gods and while I'm happy for Bryan Fuller I just wish he'd bring back Pushing Daisies. Kristen Chenoweth being in AG isn't good enough :heh:

Its ratings are constantly falling from what I hear. But then I also wouldn't be surprised if they were given a fifth and final rather than just dumped.

I know I'm probably the only one who watches it but Jane the Virgin had a really overt political episode this week. The show has always been politically snarky and willing to poke fun but this seems to have been the first episode really conceived after the election results.

It stuck out a bit when it was first bought up in the episode, but soon settled in and makes total sense given they're 1st/2nd/3rd/4th generation immigrants living in Trump's America. Plus it featured the return of Diane Guerrero in an episode that talked about the threat of ICE agents deporting you, which happened to both her parents when she was in school.

Come for the telenovela, stay for the politics and the sexy nachos.

I watched the first episode on a pretty busy train, bear in mind I was in my uniform and then a full on sex scene broke out. Looked like I was watching a porno :D

I watched that last night too. Considering next season is their last I expected more drama to be ramping up already, although I'm fine with it not. Just expect things to start unravelling.

I'd love to see the characters react to the collapse of the soviet union but unless they do a huge time jump we won't.
