Cookyman Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 No thread for this? Pre-order for Kevin Butler DLC:bouncy:
Daft Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Looks really great. Much better than I thought it would. Shame it's going to get crushed under a miasma of 'it's just ripping-off Mario Kart' crap. It seems to really push the genre...you know, instead of pushing the same 16/32 track set up all the time.
Choze Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Looks really really good. Great stuff in there. Was worried about it being boxed in but its like Mario Kart in this trailer. Mod nations was overly complex in that area but it had great depth and mastering the handling took great skill. You dont want it to be too complex(Modnation) but not too shallow like say Sega/Sonic racing. Mario Kart will always be mentioned but if its a good game it will stand up on its own. I am actually happy its more like MK now. The extra modes and ability to make your games is great. Unlimited tracks, stronger online etc. Looking really good.
Choze Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Looking good. Looks better than Modnation and that was very good already Motion steering wheel with gear flaps for manual gear fans. It seems to be compatible with a default steering wheel setup strangely so it means you can use it with most racing games, including old games like Burnout 3, GT5, NFS games etc. LBP Karting will probably work with serious steering wheels too. flameboy Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Just got an email to say I'm in the beta! Amazing!!!!!
Emerald Emblem Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) I'm not in it...But my Little Brother is. LittleBigPlanet 2 and Modnation Racers are pretty much most of his gaming hours so I'm happy he made it in. Edited July 18, 2012 by Emerald Emblem
Hero-of-Time Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Woohoo! Checked my email this morning to find that i'm in the beta!
drahkon Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Played a bit and have to say it's quite generic gameplay-wise. But that's what you should expect. There will never be anything revolutionary with this genre. LBP Karting will be about the community and the beta can't really tell us how it will work out. But all LBP games are pretty sweet when it comes to user created content. What I hate is drifting. It's way to easy. And that little shield icon when you are attacked while possessing a defensive weapon to indicate when to press the button to a avoid being hit...that's stupid...makes the game pretty boring to be honest.
Magnus Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Aww, and you were so excited about getting into the beta three days ago.
Emerald Emblem Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 My Little brother can't get his code. Dunno why that is.
Emerald Emblem Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Well turns out he needed my account to get his code, might be why I didn't get a code.
flameboy Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Aww, and you were so excited about getting into the beta three days ago. you nearly always say something that's a dig but I can't help but love ya dude. Edited July 23, 2012 by flameboy
Choze Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Thought this was only private beta. Shame its only offline and single player right now. We can share tracks but even that is abit broken. Having said that the game is already quite polished besides some stutters etc. in menus. Seems like LBP costumes are compatible? Control wise its more simpler than Modnation, more like Mario Kart this time round. Tracks are amazing so far. Lots of good ideas already in the universe but materials are quite limited right now. I am hoping they open up online and multiplayer at least during the beta. Pretty excited about this one, one of the strongest betas in a while.

I've played it online last week when I downloaded it from plus. Not touched it since mind, as I find it particularly boring.
Choze Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Well its single player only right now. But as a single player Kart game its much better than anything before it already. Single player battle mode, mini games etc. its superb. But the main focus always will be multplayer. I hope they let people play against each other in the beta. I am sure it will be a hit for people here though randomness is a big issue in kart games. Right now I am just focusing on making tracks. So far so good but themes are very limited. More about clever design until we get the full game.

I'm sure many would argue the randomness lends itself well to the genre as a party game.
Choze Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 You say that but is it an issue or a big part of kart games? I'm sure many would argue the randomness lends itself well to the genre as a party game. Randomness is annoying for single player though. I agree about multiplayer, its fun. Funnily enough this was at Eurogamer. It didnt have a large presence or multiplayer(why?). Seemed nice though. They used new themes that were not in the beta which is a good sign for creators. Plays fine and seems multiplayer orientated.
Choze Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I preordered Little Big Planet Karting on PSN. Seems like it has already downloaded and installed. It should activate and charge me on midnight of release going by the message they sent. I quite like this system for pre ordering on PSN my first time doing this. Similar to Steam basically. I wonder if activation servers will crash?
Daft Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Sounds like an utter mess. I think the whole LBP look needs to be done over.
